Cab carried me home after a while, apparently nothing is moving on roads cos there are power lines down everywhere and flash flooding in the ‘burbs whisky tango foxtrot slept through all of it, our place is all good and quite cozy but looks like my year is ending as it started - in total chaos which somehow has left me unscathed. Is Wednesday here, the last Friday before Christmas might have come earlier than expected yay :)

...and on that Friday about 20.15 local time here I'm another year older.

    ...meh...

Actually, on Friday at 20:15 PST you'll only be one day older, which (unfortunately) you've been doing daily at 20:15 since birth. At least, that's how I tend to look at it. They say that age is only a matter of how you feel. I'm giving Methuselah a run for his money.

i named a dragon in my story Methuselah.  name has majik for me.

...did my marketing a few days early.

Weather was misty and foggy as usual for this time of year but finally warmed up into the 50s.

On the way home crossed at a mid block crosswalk to avoid getting blindsided at the next intersection by turning traffic (like I mentioned, motorists in this part of town all seem to be in some kind of hurry). As I reached the other side, my foot caught a 1" lip at the bottom of the slope (for wheelchairs & such) from the street to the sidewalk that wasn't visible due to debris (dead leaves) covering it, and ended up taking a fall.   Nothing broken, though spilled the groceries (fortunately no glass bottles or jars) as well as hurt my wrist (the bad one), banged my knee, and bruised a rib that was cracked years ago when this idiot cyclist clipped me while on a walkway.  Were it not for the fact I was wearing my heavy leather jacket, I probably would have several cracked ribs.  Don't need to be a motorcyclist to appreciate good armour protection.

Going to be sore for the next few days which puts a dent in unpacking things from storage place.

The city needs to do a better job of cleanup.

    Ugh! {{{{{{KK}}}}}}

    ...thank you.

Yeah, scary when you get to our age.  I just sat there for a few momwents making sure nothing was broken (easier to happen the older you get) before letting a fellow help me up again.  This is why if I see the advance forecast calling for icy conditions, I stock up and prepare to hibernate.  Also why even at 84,000$ (and less) for a house with monthly payments less than the cost of a room in a shared setting here in Portland, I have zero intention of going back to Milwaukee.   Once my SS flips over to full retirement (and hopefully by then I'll have my retroactive disability), it's most likely the south of Spain for me.

I hear Spaain is nice.  Warm, good food, fairly peaceful.  Sounds like a great idea!

Yeah, fallinf at our age is no joke.  When I was young I wondered what the big deal was, but now.. I learned the hard way.  I tend to walk very carefully now, because losing my balance is seriously bad news as my body hasn't figured out the left foot is gone and will try to transfer weight to the toes that aren't there.  It makes for a very interesting experience, let me tell you, that you really don't want.  Glad you didn't break anything!!

I think black holes suck up everything around it, am I wrong?

Another day, 68f and sunny outdoors.  They had predicted a chance of snow on Christmas but that changed, now it's just supposed to be cold.  I'll believe it when I see it.

Nothing going on, which is good.  Stress level is near zero for the first time in years. I'm now addicted to 'Top Chef'.. could be worse.

  • Black holes don't "suck" any more than a waterfall does.  Things being swept along by the river just fall into it when they get too close.   The huge super-massive black hole at the center of our galaxy lay dormant for a long time until just recently when a cloud of gas drifted a little too close and started falling in and started getting hot and emitting X-Rays so that we could see it.  But black holes are quite happy to just sit in empty space not sucking.  Much like the uber-nerd in high school that sits alone at the prom quietly thinking nerd thoughts until some unlucky jock gets too close and gets asaulted with nerd-talk.  The jock then gets more and more agitated until he screams in agony.  But because of the unwritten rules of prom courtesy can't get away from his doom.

Morning. Blue skies and heading toward 80 here a little after dawn, should be a nice day but freeways didn’t get the memo - can’t see any water left from the flooding so must be pre Christmas gridlock, natural causes of the retail kind :)

...sunny but only the mid 40s here today.  By this weekend highs will only be in the mid 30s with lows around freezing and water, in some form (possibly frozen), falling from the sky.   May need to do a stock up trip before Friday because most likely it will be freezing rain and I've already taken my allotted tumble for the year the other night.

...for anyone that gets too close to be caught in a black hole's gravity well, it would certainly suck though.

Complaint:  Arghhh....  What's the expression?  "If it seems too good to be true, it is."?  I just got the invoice for the gems I bought for $11 at the on-line auction.  OK, they charged me tax.  That's to be expected, but they want to charge me $500 for shipping!  WTF???  Ain't gonna happen! angry  I'm done with on-line auctions and I'm finally going to fill out the satisfaction survey from the organization that hosts all these independent auctions and I'm going to let them know that of the 6 auctions I've purchased things at, only three came through with what they promised.    The other three were Two "broken" bronzes, and exorbitantly priced shipping for flawed gemstones.  %50 satisfaction isn't going to cut it!

You might want to open a ticket with the host. Amazon, as I recall, started taking a cut of the shipping part of the price for their marketplace sellers as people were charging a very low item price (from which Amazon eas taking a cut) and hen making the profit from high P&P (from which Amazon wasn't taking a cut) - something similar may be happening here.

I feel nervous.  Very nervous.  I need to eat my dinner but people around me is making me more nervous if possible.  I just want to yell that everyone go somewhere else but that would be rude.   My body is shaking but I am not cold.  I am not sure why I feel this way.  I want quiet and to be alone and left alone but that is impossible.  I feel like I am unable to do anything right.  It is not that I am doing everything wrong but just nothing right.   I do not know what to do.

Probably that feeling was due to the two cups of cold brew ice coffee which were not small by the way.

Thanks for letting me know about Rufus.  I lost my Windows 7 pro 6 bit USB.  Either that or I thought the USB was 32 bit instead of 64 bit.   I need a 64 bit Windows 7 pro usb.   My windows license I bought was originally Windows 7 but is usable as Windows 10 as it was "upgraded" during the free windows 10 promotion. For reasons I am not going into I am not satisfied with Windows 10 on this machine.

I am upset.  I had to use one of my limited deactivations for iClone because iClone will not run on my computer as it is so I cannot use it to deactivate it.  I am about to change OS but uploading something to the google cloud so I will not loose it.  I am unable to redownload Zbrush multiple times so I am trying to upload it to both iCloud and Goggle cloud.  It will also be in my microsoft cloud too.  I tried to email myself my Zbrush file but it is too big.

Once It is backed up I will install the new OS.

I am trying to prepare my computer for an OS change which means backing up stuff.   Since I do not think I have a blank DVD (assuming the DVD burner works if it is a burner) and I do not feel like turning on the light to look for an empty USB drive, I have to back up to the cloud such as one drive.  It is taking forever to upload stuff.  Well not forever but a long time.

...well getting prepared to cook up the first big batch of my special pasta sauce tomorrow so managed to locate and unpack the box with the cooking and other kitchen supplies in it.

All my steel mixing bowls, from small to very large.

My large stainless steel strainer with stand.

My cheese shredder (important for shredding fresh cheeses which not only cost less but don't use cellulose non caking additives like pre shredded cheese does).

My big stockpot with steamer basket (I sense stew and homemade chili in the near future).

My two small stainless steel saucepans (now I can dedicate my enameled saucepan to just cooking rice).

    A second medium saucepan.

    My large pasta sauce pot.

    Various cooking utensils.

More flatware (get's old washing the same 2 spoons, forks, & knives all the time).

The rest of my chef's knives.

I finally feel my kitchen is properly equipped.
