Thanks to everybody for the birthday wishes. smiley

Mini-adventure to Erie, PA for steak and sweet potato and dessert was more of an adventure than I'd expected.  Started off OK but as soon as I started up the range of hills between here and Erie the drizzle turned to sleet, then snow, then almost white-out.  Slipping on icy patches, slewed by the wind, blinded by the snow, but as soon as I broke over the top of the last hill the sky showed some blue, the snow stopped and the sea like vista of Lake Erie lay before me.  It was just like a Sibelius symphony (#2).  Naive journeyer encounters unexpected trials but fights his way through, and persistence wins the day as he bursts through the final windstorm and sees his destination in full view in all its glory.  If that sounds familiar, it should.  I commented on it once before in this forum. smiley  Journey back was just as bad if not worse. frown

Wow, it sounds like you walked.  In the sleet, snow, a driving blizzard, a skin-removing sandstorm, and a monsoon, all at once.  Uphill.  Both ways.  surprise

    ...

Well, in truth I cheated a little.  I was driving.  In a luxurious leather upholstered big old American automobile with a working heater, a personal library of high fidelity stereo classical music, as well as snacks and drinks.  So, the dangers, though real, did not imply discomfort. indecision

Adventure = fully stocked stretch Hummer with a pile of dancing girls. ;P

Yes, and, despite the pleas and threats uttered as to what would happen to the first person to dare say it to the first person that did, it was indeed said on the first day it appeared

dFForce with you will always be :)

    Odd, you are.

    Sense of humor, you lack.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I heard him do accoustic versions of some of his songs.  You forget in all the glitz that some of these people actually have a good voice.  Accoustic versions bring it out nicely.

  • Complaint:  I just got a notice from the on-line auction house where I bought my beautiful little bronze owl, that the item was damaged before shipment.  Arghhh.... sad

Non-complaint: They've fully refunded my money, which I sorely need at the moment. yes

Complaint:  On my little mini-adventure drive to Erie, PA yesterday my exhaust system  blew a hole in it, is making a lot of noise, and needs to be fixed!  no (To be clear, it was the car's exhaust system, not mine. indecision)  Although I do go into the hospital tomorrow to have my drainage system Roto-Rootered. surprise)

Lunch time!  Heated up a Shepherd's Pie in the air fryer, yum, mashed taters and peas and what appears to be ground beef, not shepherd.. I suppose ground shepherd must be hard to come by around here.  Eh, it's incredibly tasty anyway, so not a real complaint. Very filling, whoooo, stuffed now.

Writing one final document while waiting fo Amazon deliveries.  This will be my last piece of work for the company, as far as I know.  The eye doc and I are going to have some words Wednesday, as even with 6x glasses thee screen is too blurry to read.  There's a 99% chance I'll be filing for disability next week because of all this, or maybe malpractice if he can't explain why he didn't use an optically neutral oi to fill the eye.  Things could get quite exciting.

Dishwasher drain in the kitchen is now working.  New tech shook his head when he saw that the new disposal's plug hadn't been removed.  I said, "you're going to give so-and-so (the other tech) some crap about that, I take it?"  He smiled.

But he couldn't fix the hot water unit.  It all checks out okay, too; there's water flow and electricity where those things are supposed to be, but no hot water coming out of the business end of the unit.  So I'll have a new appointment for a replacement unit tomorrow and another day without a shower.  At least it's under warranty...for like another 9 years!

One thing at a time, I guess... :|

Yes, and at least the dishwasher is running now so I can get the kitchen back into cooking condition reasonably quickly.  As long as the microwave or stovetop keep working, I can make hot water.

Too bad you can't figure out a way to fit in the dishwasher...!

Ahhhh, beer delivery.  A six pack of Stone IPA, 4 bottle of Arroogant Bastard, and a cute Christmas bottle topper that looks like a holiday sweater (it was a free surprise).  Only the best beer for me!!!!!

Ground shepherd doesn't digest very well.  I should buy more papaya enzyme tablets to help with digestion (urrrp).  Most of my Amazon order has arrived, just waiting for a few more things.  I'll run the power and USB cables for the studio sometime this weekend.

Sipping Stone IPA right now..  gotta enjoy life while I can!! :)

  • Beer delivery?! surprise  And here I was thinking that back in the '50s we were decadent having potato chips delivered in 5 pound cans. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Chips

Back then they didn't really pay attention to what was or wasn't good for you. It would be nice to have a frig that would hold a keg of beer. Save a lot of money that way. It's pretty inexpensive to get one here. The cost of a few 30pks

I wish I had room for a kegerator!!!  Alas my room is already packed to the wall with gear.: fridge, air fryer, pantry, Keurig machine, bed, laptop with dual monitors, music keyboard, guitar, closet, fan, heater, and the ever-present recliner which isn't mine but ended up in here.

Saturday or Sunday I'll do a video and you can witness the compact disaster that is The Serpent's Pit! :-o

Last of the Amazon gear arrived: Vornado, guitar cable, more 6x reading glasses, lens wpes and a pair of emergency fire extinguishers in case the air fryer blows a gasket.  Better safe than sorry!  The second one will go either in the house kitchen or the house laundry room, I do worr about small fires getting out of hand.  No worries now!

Catching up with the online ambient music scene.. I'm way behind, sooooo many new tracks out.  I need to finish off the studio and start in on my second album, le sigh.  At least I don't need more gear!!!!

This is modern Austin: with Prime Now I can get goceries delivered from Sprouts, food from abour 30 restaurants at last count including DEAD FISH ON A TRAY, and beer/wine/liquor from Drizly inside an hour!!!!!  The booze delivery place is 8 miles off and the Amazon waehouse is 5 miles away.

I'm only leaving Austin if I have no other choice.

I wonder if 16GB more RAM will make my text editor run faster? Or load my 4GB of ethnic South American instruments faster? The current 16GB seems good enough for music composition, software development, and of course most importantly pr0n.

Watching Task Manager.. 8 cores.. One is actually at 2 percent!!! Must be SoundCloud hogging the processor, sheesh! :p

...here in Portland they let people bring dogs and cats on board buses without being in a carrier as "service animals" (they aren't restricted to just the traditional guide dogs).  The local news rag actually had a field day with this and the writer jokingly mentioned about bringing a pony on board as a "service animal" only to find out it fell under the description, if it was registered so.  So on that note, thinking of getting a big lizard or snake and calling it my "service animal" so I can get a seat to myself.  Really loathe it when the person next to me has an argument on their phone, is stuffing their pie hole, or has their MP3 player turned up so loud I can hear every note and lyric through their earbuds/headphones (and usually it's something that is not my personal taste).

...well last night was pretty wild weather-wise. Heavy rain, high winds beating against the windows for a good part of the night. Fairly dry today but a deluge on the way for the next three days.

Chilly yesterday morning, was only 3°F above freezing though nice and warm inside. Love having good insulation after living in a modified cellar and then a drafty 120 year old house.
