Well if all Gen 8 will look like V8 and O8 so far, DAZ will save me a lot of money by skipping this gen.

Here are the two figures side by side. Maybe one could construe that the faces are similar (much less so when you see them together), but their bodies are vastly different :).

Thanks for the renders, great comparison!

The only similarity that I see is in the eyes, to be honest.

Huh is that Oly8 ??? For the first time i think off damn ugly figure. Only 3 renders in the original product i could think, it can be something (all else damn).
    i'll pass...

Sounds like a rushed launch as i see in the product renders and content in pro bundle (nothing special).

► HD & all needed figure morphs should be in the basic main bundle as this is what makes the figure and not sold be seperatly.

HD NOT needed here, and as stated in another thread would serve to DEVALUE the bundles, especially for people that tend towards buying most or all of them

That is really helpful to see. Both the differences in body shape and skin texture are much more apparent here than the promos represent.

I really like the figure but the outfit selections didn't really interest me that much. Have no need for warriors in rags or pin-up outfits. So base figure it'll be + 2 outfits and that Febe outfit which was not part of any bundle but which has that mythpunk look I really want to see more of.

Thanks, that's a good comparison. Laurie's helps too. I think I like the add on characters more than the base.

Here are side-by-side comparisons of Olympia 8 characters. The two on the left come with Olympia Pro, and the two on the left of Olympia 8 come are Add-ons.

FWIW, I've gotten two new favorite hairs in the last two Genesis 8 bundles - Voss and GeeGee hair. Both very, very nice :)

seems like alot of repetitive female products ....maybe I'm getting bored of the DAZ cycles and need a break.

Yse, there seems to be a discount for people who have the items being offered free - there should apparently be a message ("orange banner"), daz is looking into why we aren't seeing it.

I've been getting the "you have a message" banner at random for at least the last six months. The message is there if I look, it's just the banner that sometimes never turns up at all.

FWIW, I have Olympia 6 and 7, no bundles, and I don't have a message either. Maybe one of the triggers is buying at least one of the earlier bundles?

(Although I do still have the message for the "puppy-dog-eyes-please-buy-me" offer for V8 or V8Pro, that expired the weekend before last...)

Reading all the comments makes me feel like I've dropped into the Twilight Zone. I think she looks stunning!! Really beautiful!

it is amusing don't you think that usually the complaint is each figure is toooo pretty/perfect not average everday looking or is youngish looking needs to be more mature older looking or toooo skinny and then they give us that or try to and then still complaints saying she's ugly or fat or old or butch the only female figure I've seen relised that everyone raved over was Star. Oh well can't please everyone. I also look at the related  extras you can buy which gives you more an idea of the newer character/s some interesting like the add on clothing textures or poses and so on as sometimes these better display the potential of the new characters and there are a few there that show off both the tough gritty side as well as more softer side of Olympia, Victoria and Gen8 as well as some of the add on characters. Got pro yeah maybe could've just gone for the base but want a few things to get going yeah she and Vicky can use older stuff but still nice to have few of their own things too and I think the archery set is ok too has that action comic suoer hero vibe feel to it would buy some of the extras if could afford

lol Yeah. Can't please everyone, that's for sure. One thing I think MIGHT be causing (or at least contributing to) the complain-fest is that there is a lot of really negative stuff going on in the world right now, and I think that might be affecting both people's moods as well as making them a LOT more picky about what they spend their money on. (That's just a theory though.)

I absolutely love Olympia 8 and will be getting her as soon as I'm able to get some money coming in. :)

No. It is the fact that not every face is universally appealing to everyone. Political climate has nothing to do with it. Is it so hard to believe that not everyone likes everything and they are not wrong if they don't? If you like it, good. If you don't, good. People should be free to say what the truly like or don't about it. It is how to gauge what people may or not be looking for.

BTW, what lighting/render settings are you using? Is that from a Daz product or your own custom settings?

Where did I say people are wrong if they don't like something? There is a difference between not liking something and just complaining. I get not eveything is everyone's cup of tea, nor will it ever be, but there is a difference between saying you aren't interested in a product and some of the comments and some of the complaining going on.

If you don't like something, cool. Maybe you'll like the next product. But some of the ways people are expressing it is far from helpful.

She looks like a dude. All that's missing is the male genetalia in the pro bundle. (I checked, no dice. I might have bought otherwise.)

Lethal Rogue outfit is really nice though.

    Wow... Just.. WOW!

Ahhhh I want her so much! WHY do I have to be broke!  crying She so beautiful!

'Wow' was my first thought, too. What hair is she wearing in that promo?

I don't think it's been released yet. I see it in a few other renders of the new products, such as in some of the renders for Barbarian Warrior Outfit.

Edit - Actually it MIGHT be this one: https://www.daz3d.com/perrin-hair-for-genesis-3-8-female-s

Though, if it is the same hair, it looks better in the newer product renders than in the promo images for the hair (just my opinion, of course). :)

A slightly different question about the promo:

Can someone tell me wich background was used here? Looks like kind of studio prop, but I can´t identify it.

Indeed. It's gotten REALLY bad since G8, though. Like DAZ is damned no matter what they try.

It might be a backdrop from one of DestinysGarden and InaneGlory products:

Looks to me like the background could very easily be:

Which is a really, REALLY great lighting kit!  Background included.

Thanks for that render, @AllenArt. If Olympia looked like that in her promos, I would have loved her immediately. I wish Daz didn't bleach the darker girls in promo renders.

C'mon Laurie, what would you expect with different hair, makeup, and skin coler. There are O8 and V8 promo head shots with the same pulled back pony, same general skin tint and approx the same pose. That comparison makes them look pretty much like sisters rather than unrelated adults.

Why do Olympia 8's eyebrow mats require Victoria 8???? I'm putting in a ticket for this, her page doesn't say anywhere she requires V8.

I used the figure's default textures. That IS what they look like ;).

  • While she does look a lot like V8 to me, she also kind of looks like Ophelia 7 to me too and I have always liked the Zena thing.  I will be buying the Pro Bundle because I have absolutely no O6 or O7 items at all so the three free bundles really do make it a bargan for me.  I also like both pinups and Sci-fi so the O8 bundle's clothing works for me and the 4 bundles get me started on the medieval heroine/acient goddess content (not really my bag but I am warming up to it).  When I got back into doing digital art I was buying G3 exclusivly so playing catchup for free is a no brainer on this bundle.

I use sIBL Archive's HS Gold Room and HS Cave Room a lot since I like the warm lighting. I used the Gold Room in the image with my typical tone mapping settings. I don't have standard settings I use...I just adjust them until they look right to me.
