Sleepy as well.  Thought I'd get a full night's sleep but t'was not to be.  At least I made it to 3:40AM this time, but feel I'll be groggy most of tomorrow (today technically) as a result. :/

Morning. Signs of spring and a little warmth from a big yellow sun in a bright blue sky that for once isn't overshadowed by gloomy grey :)

8 - 10 minutes in an inch or so of boiling water is enough to cook green beans to serve on the side of whatever, cook & cool for using with salads as well :)

  • it's so disappointing that it takes my poor sad computer to get a 2500px render of two figures with no background 2days 14 hrs to get to 75%, but a spot render for the same scene takes only 20 minutes to get to the same point.

*sigh* I really new a new computer.

Complaint:  Only got a few hours of sleep last night, despite how tired I felt.

Non-Complaint:  Said lack of sleep was preceeded by roughly eight hours of playing various Halo games with a group of friends and having a wonderful time, best I'd felt in weeks.

Morning. City towers glossed and luminous by gentle rain showers a little after daybreak this gloomy Monday :)

...well finally got the big stuff over ro rge new abode yesterday. Helps ro have a friend with a big extended cab puckup. New bed hasn't been delivered yet so still stuck at the old place. Down to just doing takeout as most of the kitchen stuff was moved as well. Yikes, was so tired, flopped into bed aruond 21:30 last night but not before enjoying one more curry dinner from the little mon & pop Thai restaurant down the block. Slept like the proverbial baby until the morning alarm went off so I could catch the eclipse this morning.

...(part deux as getting paragraph breaks are a pain on the phone). Yeah, though not completely total in Portland (99.2%) it was still pretty spectacular. Was able to get a pair of the appropriate viewing gasses (unlike Tjohn's) and watced as the sun was slowly obscured to the point of what I called a "toenail' sliver of sun left. Didn't get totally dark but was still eerie especially looking to the sourh where the sky was noticeably darker. Actually was able to see Venus and one other fairly bright star. The neatest part however was a shimmering effect that could be seen on the ground just before the maximum which was caused by the corona refracting around the moon. Pointed it out to orhers there who were amazed by it. Could kick myself as I had my phone and didn't think to take a video.

Well, I didn't see 99 and 44/100ths percent ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5FJfmOy4Ro ) of the sun disappear but I did get outside a couple of times to check on the progress of the occlusion.  I used binoculars on a three axis camera tripod head to aim and focus the image onto a piece of cardboard.  It got to about 74% occluded here. smiley

It was so exciting that I whooped and hollered till the animals around me were scared so much that they stared at the sun to try to reason out what was going on and they all went blind.  I've tripped over a half dozen blind dogs & cats and I'm now running from the neighbor who doesn't seem to appreciate blind horses. devil

...maybe that is what happened to all the dogs people brought to where I was as they began to run around frantically chasing one another, in the process, nearly knocking standing people (self included) over as well as diving into or over where groups of people were sitting. It made me wonder if these dog's owners were the same ones who take their pets to fireworks shows.

The humans or the canines?  I watched one of the NBC channels on the Internet and saw weatherman Al Roker narrate the event from the top of an aircraft carrier in Charleston, SC harbor.  At totality the humans around him were behaving as if their hometown football team had just won the Superbowl.  Human nature, bah, humbug.  Being an alien, I do just fine without it. cheeky

Didn't get to see the eclipse where I lived, but Nasa had a twitch stream up on it so I got to see it there. Pretty cool stuff.
