You spend a lot of time with that game?  I couldn't stand it.  They keep saying the same things over and over.

Non-complaint:   I found a small housefly dead on my bathroom floor yesterday and realized that I hadn't seen one for quite a while.   I don't miss flies.  When I was a kid in this town there were houseflies everywhere.  Even stores had those sticky tapes hanging from the ceiling, houses had screen doors & windows, yet flies were everywhere, fly swatters were always within easy reach.  Dead flies littered the window sills.  Walls, clocks, picture frames, lamp shades, any surface actually, had "fly spots" which were a euphemism for fly shit.  Flies flew around your head, in restaurants, at the dinner table, landed on your food.  They were a general nuisance.  The absence of flies now may have had something to do with the fact that back then there were many active farms almost within the town itself but the problem was not limited to the towns.  Even in the bigger towns and cities flies were a persistent problem.

However, in the 11 years that I've been back up north here (after 40 years in the south) I've noticed that houseflies are actually quite rare.  This may have something to do with why we no longer have toads either.  Nowdays houses are air-conditioned and keep the doors & windows closed so there's no need for screen doors, although most modern windows have a redundant built-in screen.  In my short time as a computer repair guy who made housecalls I have been to farmhouses around here where they don't have AC and still use screens but the house is full of flies like it was 50 years ago, the flies are attracted by the farm animals.  Thankfully though, now most of the farms with animals around here are at least a mile out of town.

In the last 11 years, except for one year when my neighbor tried to corral his horses in his front yard right outside my kitchen window, I haven't had any problem with flies.  The horses, for some reason, decided that they didn't like stepping in their own poop in their grazing area, so they agreed amongst themselves and designated an official bathroom area which just happened to be right in front of my kitchen window where I had a magnificent view of their evacuation activities.  The horses in the front yard problem went away when the town notified the owner that livestock were not permitted within 500 feet of the town streets,  somebody apparently notified the town officials of the issue. surprise)  It's a good thing the horses are gone because with horses, you have horseflies and they are MUCH more troublesome than houseflies, they're big, they're fast and they bite, hard.  And they make a sizeable splat if you can hit them hard enough with a flyswatter.

Remember, this town has not gotten larger in the last 100 years.  If anything, the population is smaller than it was in 1920.  A few houses have burned, several have been torn down, and the big houses that had big families now have been split into duplexes (like the one I live in), but no new houses have been built in my lifetime (almost 70 years).  I don't miss the houseflies, but I do miss the toads.

Finally I must admit that I have been to Austrailia and I have learned the need for perfecting the Austrailian Salute and wearing stupid looking hats with a couple dozen dangly balls hanging from strings along the brim of the hat when visting the Outback.  The flies are desperate for water and fly up your nose and into your mouth to get the moisture in your breath. YUK!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC-c4-6jvrI

Arghhh.... I just realized that in my first post about the upcoming concerts I said "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Apprentice".  Duh!  It's "... Sorcerer's Stone" not "apprentice". I guess I had Dukas on the brain.

Word of advice, don't get old!  Because one's brain is so filled with facts, and the processor gets so sluggish, that the facts collide and commingle during output. sad

Actually, it's Philosopher's Stone (or Philosphers')

That depends on which country you went to see it in. It was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in some countries and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in others:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter_and_the_Philosopher%27s_Stone_(film)

Yeah, apparently the people who are responsible for movie titles didn't think American audiences were sophisticated enough to grasp the connection to the story of the Philosopher's Stone that turned base metals into gold that was the goal of Medieval alchemists.  But any idiot in America can grasp the concept of sorcerer.  As George Carlin said: "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

Actually it was the book publishers who changed the title for the US edition.

seems to be more than a million book title generators around for publishers to play with

....well one more step for finally getting a new place.  Received the paperwork I needed from the SSA and dropped that of at the rental office today. That is the last verification I needed (apparently the background check went off without a hitch).  Could very likely find myself moving within a week.

He was married to Elizabeth Montgomery when Bewitched (which he produced and directed) was on the air.
