Honestly what I want is a series of hair products that tie intogether. What I mean is you have a basic hair style as one product, nothing facy other than a unique hair line or bangs and length with all the basic morphs and fixes. That will be one product. The next hair product will the the same hair style, except in an undo, keeping the hairline and or bangs. After that a ponyhair or pigtails. After that, wet, straightened, curled, flying. It would be nice to have a series of hair products that look like they belong together as if one person is changing hair "styles" and not look like that person is wearing another head of hair.
If you are REALLY handy with primitives, you might be able to cobble one together.
Dunno if one of these might be what you are looking for:

I agree. We have almost no ionic greek and roman garb and environments and many that we do have are very outdated. I think we need a TON more and as historically accurate as possible.
Thanks for the heads up, downloading the Brother now. I tried to cobble up a sewing machine using Maclean's Everyday Morphing Primitives but, great & handy though they are, couldn't produce anything my character would actually sit down to and sew a...well, a garment that didn't use much material. Barely enough to pad a crutch, as the saying used to go.
I would love to see some awesome wuxia hairstyles for men as well!
Sci-fi is my main pleasure, and I've always had a particular soft spot for cyberpunk. More implants, cyborgs and futuristic streetwear!
I will echo what a lot of others have said. I need everday clothing that people at home would wear from the 1930s through the 1960s. Some good dresses below the knee with aprons would be wonderful like what Archie Bunker's wife wore in the sitcom. Also, historically accurate clothing would be nice, but using mix and match, one can make a good approximation.
Yep. that's another thing we need. I understand that there are issues with producing something that is a perfect copy of something as distinctive as a Prius, but a lot of the DAZ vehicles go so far out of their way to avoid looking like anything on the road that they've stopped looking like real cars altogether. Fortunately there are a few vendors out there, mostly at Rendo, who've produced things that are recognizable and carry a normal number of passengers. I'm hoping that now that Vanishing Point is selling here that we'll start to see some decent vehicles actually made for DS and Iray, and at least we finally got a decent Fire Truck a few months ago. Now mayber we can get a reasonable approximation of a Crown Vic so I can stop using the throwaway Police Car from Stonemason's Urban Ruins...
Oh, and for those cars, how about a MODERN gas station that comes with something other than post-apocalyptic textures? As far as I know, there's not a single gas station set out there that even has a posable hose for the pump.
More buidlings like Jack Tomalin's Balneae and Stonemason's Streets of Tuscany. You can never have too many of these.
I also want a glorified bikini fantasy warrioress outfit for my V8, with totally impractical and completely unrealistic extreme stilletto heels, please.
Cheers,
Alex.
I'd personally like to see a higher end category of Monsters/Aliens NOT based on a genesis model. Something really creative, with more than two arms and two legs.
There are some great 40s and 50s vehicles in the store (I picked up a HUGE list of that period content a while back when everything was like 50 cents)
Good tails (the last Genesis 3 tail I saw grew out kind of right in the middle of the spine. That's not how a tail extrudes, dude). Proper anthro ears (that's a mean request since it's kind of impossible to do right without throwing the topology over). Proper animal leg morphs. Though. And proper back paws. Those should be doable. I'd love to see those.
I'm a Sci-Fi and Superhero guy so mostly that, but I'd like to see some WWII pilot stuff.
And I'd like to see more practical Sci-Fi gear for females. I have daughters and I try to inpire them with my art.
I am tired of "STAR STRIPPERS" too. :\
Yes, this is perfect. Things like this.
For my part, I would like to see much more environments.......
Please don't misunderstand me. I write about my thinkings on environments, not a critic against Stonemason. Stonemason is a master on making environments. I would never ever critic what he does because I'm nothing compared to him (I can't even make a room :), so he is like a god for me. He is a professional and knows exactly what he does. So please STONEMASON and please people, don't take my thinking as critical or negative. I never mean in that way. I'm so HAPPY with Stonemason's products and will DEFINITELY continue to buy his products no matter what he creates. I already bought all Urban sprawl and will definitely buy later Urban future 5 :).
OBS: I mentioned some vendors but there is a lot of excellent environment vendors at DAZ. I didn't mention them, not because they are not good but because this mail would have been very looooooong.
....and the same can be applicated for cars for example (parked cars or "rolling/running" cars).
I would like to see a lot more SF stuff like Petipas recent items Oberon Station,SF Rover Titan, New Colony, Starship Astra,..... Polish's SharkT air striker,..... and recent Mars transportation items (I can't remember the vendor).
Recent real space suits, near future ships and suits.
True. It's just too bad that that 60-70 year old vehicles are pretty useless for modern renders. The only modern DAZ original autos that are close to the real world are the Car Ranger and the HumVee, though the Limousine Prince would be almost acceptable as long as you recognize that it's closer to a VW Bug than a limo in every way, shape, form and function. The rest tend to have glaring proportion issues or look like they were submited as designs for Tonka Toys and Hot Wheels.
Challenge accepted! Though... you're pretty much right. ;)
(It's not so bad if you are doing longer-distance shots, though)
I would definitely want to see more realistic everyday clothes. The guys in the Daz’s world just don’t have the variety. Guys need more trousers, shirts, shoes, jackets and etc.
I would like to see more everyday women’s dresses that were not designed for sex appeal, but rather everyday wear or out and about wear.
On the nonrealistic side, I would like see Daz come out with more anime, specially Keiko 8.
The one thing we have too much of in content stores is sex appeal and skimpy outfits.
Sex sells so your always going to see more of that than everyday clothing. I'm 100% with you on that. I have a very small library of everyday clothing for both male and females but less male stuff.
Would like to see more occupations represented, with gear, uniforms, tools, ie freight delivery, steel worker, fireman, veterinarian, miners, blacksmiths, jewelers, sweat shop seamsters, ships's crews (not just pirates), window washers, and so on. For females as well as males, with things that represent the same era. The Carnival series was close, except for the hair styles for the men. Many men, inc my dad parted their hair on one side. Women did, too, and we are seeing a few more of the female hair styles showing a part. Binge watching say, "77 Sunset Strip" might inspire.
And, is it possible to have sleeved fitted clothing where the sleeves are not a bulbous attachment at the shoulders that look worse when posed? Men used to wear shoulder pads to "square off" the shoulders of their suits from the 1910s to 1960s. Whether a private eye, a businessman, gangster, military man, politician or mogul, they had clean pressed seams in their coats and pants. And as another poster mentioned, ablity to open and close.
Very nice! But how do you get into a .3ds file? I've never managed (and, no, don't direct me to the 30-day trial version. It won't run on a Mac.). And what file format is .gsm? Can Studio open that? (Maya? ZBrush?)

Agreed! I call those tails coming out in the middle of the spine as "belt tails" as they evidently never bothered to look up an article on comparative anatomy. It looks like the kind of thing a five-year-old would design: tie a rope to your belt and pretend it's a tail. It's either for that reason, or the people doing them are just so in love with the idea of an ass crack on a figure they won't consider getting rid of it.
I've always had to rely on kitbashing tentacles or something to come anywhere remotely a semirealistic tail on a humanoid figure.
you can get a set of 8 bugs and beetles from Turbosquid for $399 bargain!!
I would really like a good newborn baby and year old model...very realistic, not overly cutesy...or strangely adult looking like some of the older and current crop of children. I've tried adding some of them to my renders, but they usually look a bit doll like, or just creepy. I'd like to do some village scenes with mothers and children and babies...etc.
I'd like more distressed clothing that looks worn from daily use, not ragged or torn...maybe even showing some signs of repair. Dirt options, from lightly dusty to muddy or oily would be nice as well. I'm thinking that I've got these adventurers, male and female, running around through the wilderness, and dungeons...etc...all looking like super models. Skimpwear or not, the miles have to put some wear and tear on any working man or woman's finery. How about some boots with scuffs and partially worn heels? How about some driving wrinkles for that business suit? How about a slight fray around the cuffs of that twead jacket...or a dark spot from some spilled coffee that almost, but not quite, was removed in the last cleaning? Just some thoughts....
As to the OP's question, I render fantasy for the most part. However, I agree that some "realistic" outfits would be a nice add. Don't get me wrong. I like good skimpwear. But, it should be mixed in the right proportions. If EVERYONE in the story is wearing skimpwear, it just doesn't quite work. SOMEBODY should put some clothes on for gosh sake. ;) What I like to see in an outfit, fantasy or otherwise, is some thought as to what this person likes, needs for their adventure, and perhaps some quirks. Maybe Joe Adventurer loves to smoke and keeps a cigar case strapped to his chest or on his belt. Maybe Joe is a camper and carries a waterskin and cup dangling from his pack. Maybe he wears some medal or religious symbol around his neck, not because he is a priest, but because his mother gave it to him. These are just the tip of the iceberg as to how much detail could be put into a clothing set.
I haven't had much success with converters either. I tried the sewing machine that tj_(etc.) so kindly pointed out but all I got was a mess, with bits scattered around seemingly at random. I'm sure an experienced user would know how to put them back together, but as far as I'm concerned the thing might as well be Humpty Dumpty. Too bad, because it did look very nice.
If a half-decent sewing machine is what you're after, the best (make that the only) one I've seen is over at Renderosity. I bit the bullet and bought the set it comes with, and although I'll want to add iRay shaders to some or all of its parts, it doesn't look half-bad as is. Search on 'Stylista' & you'll find it.
Those renders are gorgeous! Very well done
