Let me be the spokesperson for the silent majority and ask for more skimpwear.  ;)   What I'd like to see is more of the 'classic' skimpy fantasy wear like from Frazetta or Boris Vallejo paintings; gold pasties and jewels like Gareee's Martian Princess and the various Aery Soul body jewels. I don't think we need a whole lot more of half-practical fantasy wear though, the sort of outfit that could look perfectly normal minus the big cutout on the chest or abdomen. Those ought to have material zones that allow it to be skimpy or practical, widening it's potential customer appeal.

Well now that you mention it there is a pretty big catalogue of historical underwear that have never been made that should be made for some of this period historical clothing. With 3D getting more and more sophisticated more and more art stills and animations are being made with an eye towards authenticity of historical pieces so lots to create.

However, as skimpwear, period historical underwear is likely to leave a lot of people disappointed.

Who doesn't wanna see a gal in a corset and bloomers? LOL

Now that we have a great Western town, we need some longjohns for when the sheriff is woken up before dawn.

Yes, lots of good comedy in those old Westerm shows from underwear, changing screens, and tin pan bathtubs and other scenarios. Only so many times you can pose and render a gun slinger or a bow shooter before just say not again!

Chinese hanfu clothes, hair, buildings, weapons, and armor. Anywhere from the Three Kingdoms period through the Ming Dynasy.

Polynesians, including traditional clothes, buildings, and boats/ships.

Children and babies, including clothes with fit morphs for the Growing Up morphs.

Western or pioneer dresses from the 19th century.

There are some great Western outfits for the guys, but nobody seems to realize that not all women worked in saloons back then!!

...indeed, and most of the "non saloon" outfits available would still be "improper" for a lady to wear in public back then.  Crikey showing as much as an ankle was considered "scandalous" let alone the belly or cleavage.

Authentic historical architecture, clothing and props from various premodern cultures. Not some fabrication based on your own impression of how they'd look like, please, but something based on serious research. (I always want to scream when people mix up Chinese and Japanese stuff.)

There's this absolutely gorgeous traditional Chinese residential complex model that I discovered at Turbosquid. I was very seriously going to pay the required $199 for it -- until I discovered that its doors did not open and close properly and there were 'holes' or something like that in the geometry.

There also seem a shortage of (authentic) Aztec, Inca and Maya stuff. Come, make some, please.

I could always use more high-quality sets, props, and poses related to music. There's been a mini-resurgence in guitars/amps for sale here, which I think is a great trend. The guitars range from traditional to avant-garde. I'd like to see saxophones and vintage keyboards (like electric pianos) here, too. And more guitars besides Fender and Les Paul clones. So I guess the "genre" would cover the spectrum from retro to contemporary.

...I hear you on music. We do have some nice instruments in thw Melody Man series, however there still is not a nicely detailed concert hall grand piano on par with Ness' Harpsichord nor a pipe organ with an accurate keydesk and pedalboard (even the ones on Turbosquid fall short on the realism side). Also missing is orchestral percussion and accurate brass instruments.

More Keytars please! wink  Synths too!

And yeah, a few timpanis, tubas, glockenspiels, etc...would be nice also.  We can always have the musicians wearing skimpwear to keep it interesting for the skimpwear fans...

Mind you, I don't mind skimpwear in moderation (and in fact use it in appropriate settings), it's just that I don't need to spend much time to find skimpy outfits in my daz wardrobe (soooo many).  Other, less skimpy outfits can take longer though as there are a number of approaches to fashion.  And layering outfits?  Yeah, that can be a challenge.  Plus, I can often turn a basic outfit into skimpwear pretty easily, by utilizing cutout opacity and some cool patterns...

Spiked heels are another story... I think about half of the gal shoes in the Daz library are boots with spiked heels (and most of those have the SAME/extremely similar spiked heels), and that may not be an exaggeration... I sometimes use them, and have absolutely NO problem finding a pair of spiked heel boots or shoes in my library if I need a pair.  Flat or short heeled boots, surprisingly, are rather uncommon, and often don't have quite the style I need for something, or are so old that they don't fit well on newer figures.

Sometimes I end up deleting the polygons on the heels and flattening the boot/shoe configuration to get what I need.  The boots may not look exactly right, but at least they are more practical in wilderness settings that way.  THIS is why I keep suggesting that content designers make two versions of their boots, that way maybe some of them might actually include a short/flat heeled version that looks correct (as opposed to 'chopped' when I modify them), as well as the heeled version.  Since they have the 'source' file, yeah they often can do a much better job at the front end of the process than I can after the fact.

But I digress.  Yes, more musical instruments please!

horror, gore, devils... most of content looks like a child toy figure here if you watch over at pixologic :cD, but it could be that it's still a texture & rendering problem.

More functional clothing items... clothing locked into a single shape or morph, is a bit boring. Wouldn't mind more dynamic clothing though... or at the very least update the ones that are there and make them fit and work with the newer figures.

Underwear as in panties (American term) are relatively new; early 19th from what I can tell.

More historical medieval clothing. Particularly male... Particularly codpieces and miniskirts :)

Period clothes are great! I believe we have so much skimpy clothes because sex sells and this is a business of selling content. For myself I would like to see clothing and enviroment sets set up where you can find everyting for Desert scenes in one place and everything for Underwater scenes in one place that way we can use the Daz Website to set up our scenes and instead of just doing pinups. I want to tell stories with our pictures. Daz did try to sell something similar called Ready to render but this was too focused on pinup instead of being generic setups were we could put in our own charaters. It would also help sell your items if it checked if you had the requsite items already in your Runtime. It would also be nice if people could upload their own Scene Setup file with nothing in them but the Setup not the files included. This would generate more sale and make rendering more fun. Setting up scenes is tedious. (HINT HINT Make this a feature for Platium Club Members. Daz Web People and you can sell more Memberships). This is why I use paper and pencil to work out what I'm going to do. What I have found works best is having a picture database which makes looking things up easier.

I would love to see more fantasy content, but Asian fantasy/wuxia inspired items. There are some things in the shop (and many that are G2 and older), but nothing that comes close to some of the awesome wuxia outfits that make their way into Asian movies and tv.

I think we're seeing the long tail.  A big market for skimpwear and then a rapid drop to what each one of us really wants, but the total market is probably small.

No more greek or roman stuff. I think that is one historical era that is well covered, egyptian as well. Every male bundle seem to have one greco roman fantasy outfit and I'm kind of sick of it. Barabarian outfits for both male and females are pretty over done in my opinion. Love to see more 20th century vintage outfits.

I would LOVE Greek if they could get it right. I have yet to see a full true pteruges, just pieces and parts of one.

I would also love some Revolutionary American/English clothing as well.

Stonemason, you really should consider selling a tutorial about how you create those scenes and what postwork is involved. That would be one of the few tutorials I'd ever actually pay for.

I don't need to ask for sci fi stuff here, I can be sure, there will be allways some cool stuff here. What I can'tget enough are medeteranian villas with interiors and HowieFarkes landscapes.

The trouble with historical garments is that they (for women, at least) tend to be long and flowing. Without a quick and easy dynamic draping system it is very difficult to make them look good in all but a few simple, standing poses. Seated or reclining? Forget it. I even have to make custom morphs for short but wide skirts so that they don't bend like sheet-metal when in a sitting pose. I think that is why you find so many of the historical gowns in PC+ and one of the reasons I don't subscribe to PC+ unless there is a mad offer on a 3 month subscription.

Yes, I know about VWD but that is another long and sorry tale.

  • Sci-Fi... always sci-fi.  We are still waiting on some really cool sci-fi uniforms for (at least) Genesis 3

Every day clothing would be great too

I would LOVE to see a lot more clothing based in the 20s-50's for Genesis 3 and up.  There are some good Downton Abbey inspired outfits for Genesis 2 but they don't work on every G3 figure as well as I would like.  Plus, there hasn't been a decent flapper outfit with accessories in a while!

More Golden Age of Hollywood hair for Genesis 3 and up would be great too.  There already are some great sets, but they are starting to look a bit dated (as in not looking as natural as newer hair meshes coming out and NOT style) It would be great to get some more.

This would be great! Combine it with the hanfu style of clothing and we could cover most periods up to the Ming Dynasty. As a reminder, Han Chinese men did not cut their hair or shave their heads, except for monks.

Well, when you think about it, anything that shows up in the forum's most likely long tail, as only a tiny fraction of the DZ and Poser userbases even come here, let alone post.  And I imagine that most of us who do post tend to only do so when we have a question or a specific type of product that we're looking for.  Or just can't get to our rendering computers at the moment, for whatever reason. :)

It depends on what era.  There were several stretches where said skirts were shaped by hoops and crinolines, in which case stiff and only good in standing positions is not inaccurate... :)

Ordinary everyday vehicles. While I happen to live in a neighborhood where everyone drives Lamborghinis, Ferraris, vintage Rolls-Royces, Morgans, Bugattis, or titanic combat vehicles with machine-gun turrets, not everyone is similarly blessed or cursed. We do have a few anti-grav skycars roaming around but they're so nouveau riche, don't you think?

Yeah, I'd like to see more everyday vehicles.

While I'm at it, my female story character would sell her digital soul for a sewing machine...
