Here is the link to the beta site.
Garibaldi beta site
You need a registered copy of Garibaldi to sign up for the site if you haven't already.
Once LAMH has been opened, it doesn't shut down until you close DS.
What happens is that, if you open a known good scene with Garibaldi hair, some or all of the scene content will be invisible in the view port. It will render fine - you just can't see it in the preview window. You also get an epilepsy inducing screen flicker every time the cursor moves.
As long as you are opening or creating scenes that don't use Garibaldi hair then all is well. Only scenes with Garibaldi are affected until you shut down DS to close LAMH as well.
Hi @Gone,
Thank you for the information.
All the best,
Trish
@Puntomaus
thanks much,, I tried to install beta plug ins for current ds 4.6 public beta,
by installer, to appoint the beta directory.
it seems install all file in beta directory too.
but I had no menu (create and edit) for garibaldi and infinito.
then I needed to set menu correctly as same as you mentioned.
by window> workspace> customize.
I needed to add action for edit menu too.
without it, though create garibaldi hair, I had no way to edit the hair. :-)
as for me ,it is first time to install these plug in for beta DS
so that I do no know, if DIM up-date beta, I need to re-edit menu too or not.
I am having a bit of an issue, new install of everything on a new computer, accidently installed the basic beta 1.1c I believe the jan 6 one, so I uninstalled it and installed the express 1.1c, but reloading etc is not giving me the option of entering my key, tried uninstalling all of daz and reinstalling from scratch and the garibaldi and still no luck. Under help and installed plugins it shows Garibaldi but no option to enter a key there either, would the next option be uninstall and search for registry remnants then try again? I am at a bit of a loss. The create menu shows no create option for the hair, and the edit shows the edit hair option like the basic did, seems it has stuck me with the basic no matter what I do.
Edit, ok even deleting all registry entries and installing the original Daz store 1.0 edition it just tells me I have installed the basic edition and still gives me no option to enter my key. When loading Daz studio after install the thank you screen pops up with the thank you for installing Garibaldi basic yada yada, with an option to go to the website and to click done and nothing else. I have no idea what else to do to get my key into the damn thing.
The only difference between Basic and Express is the garibaldiPlugin.dll in the plugins folder. If you have the latest Express dll installed, it should have a size of 4.39 MB.
You could try unpacking the file to a temp folder and then copying the dll to the plugins folder and see if that gives you the registering screen - or works properly without all the fuss. If your serial number is stored properly in the registry, there shouldn't be any need to enter it again.
I've switched back and forth between Basic and Express several times without any problems.
There is only one registry key where the serial number is held. Did you find that key when you were clearing the registry?
I didn't find a spot for a key in the registry, nothing that even looked like it should be one. And the dll is 3.55 mb. Only reg key I have found with any info says "BASIC" if I change it at all I get the Welcome screen again and can click done and it changes it back to basic. Nowhere do I get an option to click next or to enter my registration key.
And since the installers are exe not sure how to break them open to extract the dll and they do not give an install directory option, all autodetect. So I cannot just install somewhere else.
It was so easy on my old computer lol
I wouldn't worry too much about it saying "BASIC". Mine says that as well after I installed basic and didn't change back when I reinstalled Express.
This may be a dumb question but did you install the correct version of the plugin? Windows/Mac, 32/64 bit. Also, when you reinstalled DS did you put it in a different location?
The installer starts with the question about removing the old version but it doesn't do anything until you get to the final install screen. About 3 clicks in, you should be on a screen that says where it thinks your copy of DS is and gives you the option to choose a different location before committing to the install.
If the location listed is not correct for your new install, then make sure you point it to the correct location. It should be pointing to the folder where DazStudio.exe is located.
Win 64, 7-8, so correct version and was having a brain freeze moment, it does allow to choose where to install, so I stuck it in desktop to get the dll out, even swapping dll and so on so forth clean reinstall including registry wipes and with Daz installed to default with the download manager it still installs basic with no option anywhere to input my key.
Hold the phone...Ok, For some unknown reason it installed daz 4.6 in program files, and Garibaldi is going into program files(x86) sigh....
Ok, Daz is installed both in (x86) and program files, garibaldi is the only thing in the plugin folder in program files (x86)...Something seems Charlie foxtrotted
Only bits of Daz are in (X86) though
Success!!!! Finally, Found the dll in the program files folder, replaced it with the express dll and now have the option to enter a key! Thank you!
Thank you Gone. Now, once I have something to show I will come back and try to keep this thread from being too lonely.
Glad you got it working.
I think I would rather slit my wrists than ever, ever, ever install any app to the programs folders. I've seen so many people have problems with those folders I think I have actually blocked their existence from my memory! :)
Anyway, here's a new do for the BC2 lion.
I like that, I do not know if it was what you were going for but the effect is very much like an oil painting. Especially with the choice of background.
Any submissions will be a while, I have been away from Daz for almost a year and it seems I have forgotten most of what I managed to learn, that and the newish layout of 4.6 has changed my learning curve a bit.
How do I undo an action in Garibaldi? I've recently started using the program (like just an hour of use). I'm marveled at the amount of control you get with this plugin but something that would seem obvious like a redo and undo button I cannot find. I do see in the Style section, Global settings a undo limit bar but that's it. What am I missing?
Oops, while looking how to export the hair found the top menu. Now I see that the edit menu has undo and redo.
So far LOVING this plugin!!!!!
Can anyone help trouble shoot a small issue please.
When I create a hair style on a human where the hair is parted in the middle, I will always see a tuff of hair sticking up from the part when I go to render where as in the GH window and in viewport I dont see it at all.
Can anyone recreate this at all or has seen it already?
Thank you
You need to change the autopart setting in the style pane of GH. The default is 180 - you want to set it around 100. But don't be shy about trying other values to see if they are more to your liking. :)
The blue hairs you see in GH and DS view are just guide hairs to show the general shape of the style. These are located at the vertex points. The generated hair is created on the painted areas and are influenced by the guide hairs. The further the generated hair is from a guide hair, the less influence the guide hair has (hence the tuft). Since all polys have multiple points, there are multiple influences on the generated hair in each poly.
Autopart helps to control the strength and direction of the guide hair influence.
In the Paint room how do I erase? I know I can undo but the control is not the same. Also I don't see an option to paint with symmetry which is totally necessary.
never mind, found out that the value slider on zero makes the eraser function. But symmetry I haven't found yet.
If you are using version 1 there is no symmetry. You have to register at the beta site linked in my first post on this page and get the 1.1 upgrade to get symmetry. You need to make sure you get Express and nor Basic.
Apparently, the latest update was submitted to DAZ at the beginning of January but hasn't made it to the store yet. No idea why.
Too bad, because the update also includes a free player called Garibaldi Basic.
I am wanting to use this plugin to simply add frizz to pre-existing hair
Is that possible, could someone be kind enough to show some examples
MDC's posable ferret with fur. :)
There are several ways to do this - it all depends on how much frizz you want and the hair prop you are using.
Keep in mind that the generated hair from Garibaldi will probably look quite different from the prop hair.

Thank you for the fast response Gone. I'm off to pick up the upgrade. Hope DAZ release this upgrade soon. Garibaldi needs to be made DIM compatible too, it will be much easier to find out about upgrades.
There were problems with the original map - so I redid the sucker from scratch! :)
anyone tried for some satyr legs?
are there lady satyrs or are they all dudes?
:)
Well, to do a proper satyr you would need goat legs - which I don't got.
I suppose I could buy Rawart's satyr but it comes with LAMH hair so why bother making Garibaldi hair?
I do have rabbit legs so I could always fur them. :)
That ferret is looking great with your hair!
How to adjust the "thickness" of the hair?
In the distribute pane, top line is amount that defaults to 10. This means it will generate 10 hairs/sq cm. Depending on the style, amounts between 100 and 300 would be good starting amounts.
To change the thickness of individual hairs, you want to change the base/tip settings in the width settings (also in the distribute pane). The max setting here is 0.2 - which is pretty thick for an individual hair.
Thank you, Gone.

THank you, I will try to remember that the next time I play with it.
I got the fur looking better. It was really just a matter of getting the base and tip size correct.
Was I hallucinating or did this message change? Anyway, for those as may be interested, I thought I would share a bit about making my lion hair.
The first image is a screen cap of the DS viewport and scene tab. As you can see, the lion has 8 hair nodes. I did it this way to make the lion more customizable. Next are Garibaldi screen caps for the distribute, clump, and tweak settings of the body hair.
The body hair generates just over 1.1 million hairs with these settings. The remaining nodes add another 300K hairs for a total all in generated hair of just over 1.4 million hairs.
As far as my system specs go, I have a quad core duo machine with 6 GB of memory. When I hit the render button, it takes about 3 minutes to complete the hair calculations so nothing appears to be happening. Total render time - including calculation time - is 30 minutes due to the speed boost you get from using AoA advanced ambient and spot light. These are the only lights I use now with Garibaldi. :)
The follow on message has some renders with different hair nodes turned off.
Here are the other lion renders.
