Yes, makes perfect sense! I used to do something like this before the Wear Them All Expansion came out. I would fit V3 stuff to Genesis using the Generation 3 clones for Genesis, then use Wear Them All to fit from Genesis to Genesis 3. It's a two step process, but it's worth it to get some of your oldest content onto your newest figures. It's always fun to see how far you can finagle stuff. LOL

So yes, just do as you normally would, adding an extra step:

    1. Fit any older item to G3F via Wear Them All.
    2. Fit from G3F to G8F. (Note: When the pop up box asks you who it's made for, tell it G3F.)

Awesome! That's a neat trick! Thanks for sharing!

You're very welcome. Now I'll have to update some of my previous renders with "the new girl." LOL

First test render of Princess Alex for V4 on V7 and V8:

    Notes:

    • I obviously have some work to do on textures. I haven't done any SubD or smoothing yet, just applied Uberbase and put some metallicity on the gold sections of V7's outfit.
    • V7 is wearing default textures. V8 is wearing Renapd's "Coronation Day for Princess Alex" textures (Rendo.)
    • Overall the fit looks good. Slight poke through on the chest armor and a little funkiness around the hem.
    • Parts of V7's outfit look crazily plastic. I'm thinking that's either too much glossy in the default textures. I'll tweak. I only used Poser textures here, so wasn't expecting them to look perfect right out the gate.
    • Look at the height difference between V7 and V8. V7 is supposedly 5'11". How tall is V8 then?? OMG, she's an Amazon! (Must be nice, I'm only 5'5".)
    • Expressions: They are both wearing "Confident" at 100% from their prospective morph packs (G3G and G8F) with "Smile" dialed in at 30%. Interesting to see the differences.
    • There are no shoes with this outfit. The princesses will have to wait till I feel like digging some up!

The 3 Wear Them All products are such a bargain and timesaver.

They sure are! I use Wear Them All constantly.

Here's my second attempt at Princess Alex for V4

    Notes:

    • Converted to Sub-D and bumped it up to 2.
    • Applied smoothing to everything. That didn't help the hemline. Might have to fit it a different way or try draping the dress with VWD. (Yeah, I'm that crazy.)
    • There's still distortion on the front underdress of both dresses. Not sure why, but it's more noticeable on the green one.
    • DA's Iray Fabric Shaders did a great job of converting the cloth and leather to more realistic textures on both dresses. You could probably use ParrotDolphin's Iray Fabric Shaders and get a similar result.
    • On the metallic parts, I converted to leather then turned the metallicity back up
    • Bumped up the green dress, but still needs work. I need to read up on converting Poser textures, I'm sure there's more I could do with it. .
    • There are TONS of morphs in these clothes and they transferred just fine. I swung V8's cape and dress a little to the left so you could see an example of the movement options.

Yeah, that hem is weird! Have you tried transferring the dress with SY Templates? Since it adds morphs, you might be able to have more control. Though I'm unsure whether you can then transfer that piece (with the morphs) to G8.

@Llynara and @giselle3000 you made my friggin day! You know how when you pick out an outfit to wear to a party and it doesn't fit? That's how I felt all day trying to put V4 clothes on G8. Then I saw the posts from you to. Fit in one try. Wear them all has been a game changer. Any outfit for G8 has got to knock me out unconscious before I buy it because I have so much gear and the options are endless.  Here is one of my favorites from Rendo, Tight Shapers Set for V4

You are very welcome, glad to be of help. And wowza, she looks fantastic! For some reason, the room looks small, but V8 is rather tall!

@cchtien83 That outfit came out very well!

V8 is a glamazon for sure. Even scaled at 85% she's a giant

  • LlynaraLlynara Posts: 4,772

LOL! I love that term, "glamazon!"

I think the easiest way to get V4 clothes on G8F is just load the clothes onto Genesis 1 then save it as a Wearable Preset. You can then double click on the wearable preset to get them on G8F (because she comes with the ability to wear Genesis, G2F, G2M, G3F, and G3M clothes). :)

Thanks Diva, I will try this way too

  • FenixPhoenixFenixPhoenix Posts: 3,181

That does look fantastic, @ALLIEKATBLUE! I really like that set! I thought the room being small was deliberate, lol. Sort of like going for a dollhouse theme, which could be a fun series!

Here's Wonderland Mad Hatter for M4 on G3. This one is out of the box with just an uberbase thrown in. My observations:

    •
    • There's very little pokethrough, but raising the smoothing too much causes the clothes to explode into a mess.

Have you tried altering the Base Shape Matching to Generic that sometimes helps with this problem.

You're right! Didn't think to check that. Will do so and see what happens!

"Princess of Magic II"  for Victoria 3 on Genesis 3 Female. Courtesy of the "Baron" Baron_Von_ Harkonnen.  All of his models are about 10 yr or older, but all of them have separate matzones making the application of Iray shaders a snap.

I love that one, doesn't look like its available anymore though!! Nice job!

There are a couple other things you can try, I changed some of the other sliders a bit just to see what else might help - it worked pretty well on the Cassandra dress.  You can see the exact settings I used and what it looks like when I was done here .

Also, I am working on a thread that catologues all of the conversions from the earlier generations, does anyone mind if I add your conversions to the list?  I don't mind doing them again but I don't have everything of course.  A link would go back to your original post/render of course.

I just purchased this for GF3, where do you find it? The PDF suggest the clones are in the parameters tab, but I dont see the clone sliders anywhere.

How it works is you select the character you want to dress in the old non-compatible clothing and then click the preset icons of the incompatible clothing and Wear Them All intercepts the clothing preset and gives you a list of options of in a grey dropdown list of original DAZ model capatibilities like Victoria 4, Michael 4, A3, V3, M3, Genesis, Genesis 2 and so on. It is called autofit and it's intergrated to look like it's a part of the DAZ 3D autofit you should already of used before.

Ah yes, thanks for that, so it's integrated into auto fit, I understand now.
