Very nice gymnastic renders, Ivy! As a 3DL user I'm a little curious as to why I don't see any motion blur in any Iray renders although I have seen some products in the store. Are they not working?

  • Just some portrait work

    A New Life (part 2)

    One week into training.
*(How.. ..am.. I going.....  to survive ..another... eight weeks...  ...of this.)*

The Daz Studio version of Iray does not have motion blur out of the box, but it does have very good depth of field control and in camera effects (designed to make sense to anyone who understands how cameras and lenses work).

Nice one! Yes I've noticed that DOF looks really nice in Iray, that adds to realism for sure!

Well good I popped in to remind you then=) I miss that extra sense of motion in many action renders, not only Iray but generally. Kind of surprising when people seem to go for ultra realismsurprise

in most holding & basic walking poses you don't require motion blur

    A New Life (part 3)

Three years in, recently promoted to head of Security.

    A New Life (part 4)

    The end of an adventure.
*(You are and always will be my dearest friend.  You have kept me safe through all of our adventures.  I will miss you always.  Though your adventures will no longer involve me, I will pray for you and your crew's safety...  **sniff** Here I am tearing up talking to a starship.  Here is where we part ways, never to see each other again.  Farewell dear friend...)*

@JamesJAB, I've really enjoyed your mini-series. Nice story arc over the four images. I'm glad to see she survived the adventure.

Here's a little something I did for Llola Lane's monthly challenge. The theme this month is Lights, but having used my Christmas card image for the Time of Day, I wanted to do something not holiday related. I came up with this:

    Nocturnal

    Nocturnal, by L'Adair

I used one of Sy's Starry Night HDRIs but I still ended up adding a ton of 1, 2 and 3 pixel white spots to the night sky. Several years ago my husband and I were visiting Crater Lake. We pulled off the road to look at the stars at a place where there was no light to wash out the night sky. It was amazing just how many teeny tiny spots of light were visible. I tried to capture that awe I felt with this sky, even though this image is more just for fun.

Sooooo.... (a second scene extending part 4)

    A New Life (part 5)

    Reflection and sadnes
*(So many years ago, a young lady sitting on her box in this coridor wondering if she made the right choice... Scared of the future, afraid of failure, worried about dissapointing everyone who believed in her.  That little girl was me... is me!....  Well here I am again, same place scared out of my mind, moving into the unknown, leaving everything and everone I've known behind.  "You've served your time, star hopping is a game for the young." Hearing that made my heart sink down to the pit of my stomach.)*

*(Hold your head high, one foot in front of the other...  Hold back the tears,.. I don't know if I can.  Be strong this one last time, be proud, stand tall, remember the good times... I'm going to miss my chair... my chair for ten years.  It's in good hands now, I know it is.)*

*(The time is now, through this door is my crew, my friends, my family, my most cherished creatures I've encountered in this universe.  Time to say my farewells... most I'll never see again.....  How do you say goodbye, I don't want to open that door...)*

This render was just meant to be a nice detailed portrait of my currently un-named character.  As the render came into being itteration after itteration, it became part of her story.
On a side note - The level of detail on esha's dForce Little Red Dress for Genesis 8 Female(s) is amazing, the promo renders do not do it justice.

    A New Life (part 6)

    A simple smile.
*(When your best friend of fifteen or so years asks for a photo, you smile.  A simple smile, a sad smile, a smile you knew was coming, a smile you've been dreading.  Most of all a smile that says goodbye.)*

    The Horrors of War

This didn't quit come out how I imagined, but here it is.  It was inspired by a real painting I saw.  I can't remember the name of art or the artist, but I was told it was the 1st time a painting depicted the horrors of war.  Most paintings up until that one depicted war as glorious and/or adventurous.  These alien prisoners are innocent civilians being executed.  Their only crime was being born on a planet other than the executioners.

The Third of May, I believe?

Interestingly, I did a 'scifi' rendition of this, too:
