This should be fixed now,   the DSON sale

Hmm, there are still 174 items in that list that are not discounted. Some of them were discounted earlier today, but are no longer.

They are discounted again. This is a little chaotic today. :)

I really wish  the actual outfits were also 70% off. Just for a few hours.

That made me click off too. Once I saw TEXTURES for everything...I was like....Daz...Daz....Daz.....

But I got some really cool stuff regardless.....

There's a set called Steam Punk hideout...I got lots of places to stage battles today.

I find I'm not working the most over PLACES...One thing I didn't really consider until recently.

  • Hmm.  Somehow, having Aiko 5 (One of the DSON items) in the cart, is influencing the price of the newly mad items.  That discount on the rest gives her a net cost of $2.57, so I think I'll go for it.  I don't see anything in the sales talk about why she influences the newly mad, but other DSON's like the steel town blast furnace don't.

I was going to make a post about the Aiko bundles, but she comes with enough and enough add-ons that she should be fine and I shouldn't have to worry about putting her in additional clothes.

Worth it as a figure...I got two Aiko Pro bundles today...

So...I'll roll and entire Genesis character and keep it all Genesis ...

I might even Facegen her face and out it on a Gen 3 if it's THAT good a character I come up with,,,

Regarding the G3 black characters, I don't actually have any at all (apart from Samira, who I never use and was part of a bundle) because they generally look really shiny to me. It's even worse close up since characters of all colours around here are blemished and unwrinkled, so the gloss on black characters makes it seem to me like you're looking at plastic. I can't be bothered to mess around with the settings or muck about editing eyelashes out of Facegen textures and so I've just been waiting for the arrival of Skin Builder 3 so I can make my own reasonably quickly.

I thought I might buy today's offerings though as they're quite cheap when the various discounts are taken into consideration, but the cost of all these 'quite cheap' purchases adds up pretty quickly. Zarina's not bad, but Xavier looks like he's got a bit of the usual abnormal gleam about him. Lots of people do buy the black characters on here though, so I suppose what I'm asking is, am I seeing what's really there or is my brain just supplying me with what I'm expecting to see? I'd swear none of the black people I know in real life look like they've been rubbed over with a bacon slice, but maybe I've just not noticed it before.

I don't know enough about Daz and it's rendering processes to know how they approach darker skin. I do know that iray does a pretty good job of replicating the way light works in real life. As a pro portrait photographer I can chime in on the real life part of this. Darker skin reflects light more then lighter skin, so any time you get darker skin in bright light your going to get a lot of shine. Talking with a black photographer friend she told me that as a dark skinned person it's something that you are used to seeing and it just seems weird to us white people. If you look at real unedited photos of interracial couples you can compare the way light effects the skin on both skin types and you will see that both shadows and highlights are stronger on the darker skin. When I photograph dark skinned people I try and be very careful of the lighting, keeping it soft so that it gradually fades into shadows. No hard lights, and sharp shadows or you will get shine and shadow with no detail.

If you start with the last page of DSON sale items you can get ones with a sku under 16000 for that extra 30% off :)

Great info! I have struggled with lighting the darker skinned characters correctly in DAZ. Seems like either the light bounces off their skin or is absorbed by it. There's a narrow range where it looks awesome, and I'm trying to find that sweet spot more often.

Sooo, there's no benefit for pc members from buying pc+ items being in the Featured DSON catagory then?

  • Well, as sad as I am that the Reptillian bundle was removed from the 70% off sale, I did just get the Dragon 3 pro bundle for $19. So win! laugh

No, not true. PC+ members are still getting the 30% off Daz Originals stacked on top of the 70% off. This makes the toal discount on the ones that are DAZ originals 79%.

yes, but not for pc+ items in the catagory, which remain their usual price. Also, some of the DOs in the DSON sale are not disounted properly either.

Are the only items this sale is working for the ones marked at 79% in store then? This catagory sale is much more taxing than usual, my brain hurts  :/

I keep putting things in my cart then taking them out because I wonder do I really need this? Don't I already have soooo many similar things? And this will probably be a freebie soon because it's such an old item,.. Ugh. These sales are way too time consuming and exhausting. Great for newbies though who don't already have a lot of stuff.. if I was new, my cart would overflowing now. It still is. Ugh.

What the heck is going on? The banner is back to the same old same old, no mention of the Daz Originals sale from this morning. I stayed online until 6am this morning and the sale wasn't fixed, now there's no mention of it anywhere.

It evidently is only for featured DSON items and that still shows in the banner and the sale page.

Every time I think I have everything I could possibly want or need, I find new stuff.... Already had to get a new gift card and now my cart hit that max. There needs to be a rehab center for Dazaholics...

Don't want to be that guy, but I'm a little nervous about tonight.

I think it's going to be really big. And it's probably going to run across the whole weekend so THIS....IS...IT....

Don't see any reason why that would be the case?

Weekends are usually catchups and other rehashes, and it's not likely to be the end of the MM sale.

    Yeah, it's REALLY not cool that they keep the freebies hidden. This thread is pretty helpful in that reguard though: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/152301/don-t-guess-here-s-the-current-bonus-buyer-freebie#latest ;

If you keep an eye on that thread, there seams to be a new freebie every 3 days or so.

But I totally agree, having that as a hidden thing just seams strange.

Thanks for this list and the link.  I've missed some!

I noticed a lot of the characters seem too shiney or waxy to me - white or black or other. It's just a lot more noticable on darker skin. I think the problem is that many of the PAs try and use the same shader settings for the darker skinned characters as they do the lighter skinned characters and it doesn't look right. I've found I have to tweak the settings on EVERY character I buy, without exception, in order for them to look their best.

Does anyone know what's going to happen if I have something in my cart at 73% off, but the product page itself lists the product at full-price? No matter how many times I refresh the cart, it says 73% off. There are several such products from earlier today. Will the shop charge me the full price, even though that's not what it says on the cart page?

Do what I do before every check out - take a screen capture of your cart. That way if you end up getting charged more you can sent the screen shot to customer support to get the difference back.

Edit - Oops, looks like Charlie beat me to it. lol

Me too, I find lowering the Glossy Reflectivity and raising the Glossy Roughness helps a lot.

It's not THE  end, but this is the last  official weekend in March and they ramped up last night (as far as I'm concerned).

So I expect something different and even fastgrab hasn't updated in DAYS. I expect that to flip. Maybe a flash sale or two.

They just did the DSON/Poser users bonus...there's a lot of places they can still go.

    Someone linked to this....vendor's products.

I never heard of this guy, but this stull is incredible.

Who knows what other vendors are coming up/down...

What new releases are on deck.

Funny... I was away all day doing a project for school. Making fictional logos for fictional companies in Illustrator.

So, I had a sudden need for an English Riding habit for this project. I came and did a search, found a DSON compatible Genesis 1 version that said it was $5.95 on sale. Great. Grabbed it, put it in my cart, got to my cart, and it said it was $9.50. Hit the back arrow, confirmed the price said $5.95, went back to my cart, and it showed as $3.95... thought to myself...

"I bet something is wrong with the market check out and I should investigate this before it is fixed, but I don't have time..."

Bought my $4 habit and finished my fictional logo.

    Postwork in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Meanwhile, looks like pandemonium was breaking out here. Like - 94 new notifications between then and now. Wonder if I'm too late.

Whelp. They just lost a sale from me. They dropped my March Madness Banner right before checking out. I refresh my cart and boop - everything jumps up in price. And my banner is gone. Yet the new sales day hasn't started yet, and probably won't for another hour. Nice Daz. Nice. You just lost a sale. Again.
