    [apologies for the lengthy rant]

No worries about the rant.  They're better than acting out your frustrations on innocent nearby objects or people.  Personally I can't stand dirty dishes.  About 9:00 each night I get them all washed, dried, put away, shelves wiped, and prescriptions for the next morning placed prominently on the shelf so that I won't forget to take them first thing.  However, I'm not as fastidious about vacuuming the floors or dusting.  The floor gets vacuumed at least twice a year whether it needs it or not.  Which isn't too bad because, I live alone, smiley and I know what is on the floor!  No pets, no mud past the door, and kitchen spills are wiped up immediately.  Dust on the other hand is a problem.  I live next to the main road through town and there's a farm on three sides of me* so dust accumulates.  When it gets to the point that I notice that my TV has dimmed I'll look around and say "gosh all golly gee, look at all this f'n dust", and spend the next three days intending to get out the vacuum and assemble all the hoses and brushes to suck it all up so that it doesn't just resettle afterwards.  Two weeks later I finally do it.  TV, books, shelves, upholstery, walls, window sills, table tops, and lamps.  Oy! indecision

Yes, yes, I know that dust settles on floors too and should be vacuumed more often than twice a year.  But I figure that since I have carpet or rugs everywhere, then they have at least 6 months storage capacity between the fibers. cheeky  But I do get concerned if I see gray clouds form around my feet when I walk on the rugs. surprise

*Notice that I implied that I live in town with farms all around me.  It's a small town!!!!

Complaint:  I've been patting myself on the back for the last two months, pleased that I've been under budget and able to put significant money into savings.  Now, today I went out to the car to make a short trip to the bank to cash a $12 check and before I got the car out of "Park" the brake pedal made a quiet "whoosh" and went all the way to the floor. ($$$)   Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh crying  There goes all that savings.   But... at least that didn't happen while coming to a red traffic light. yes

Four hours later... ARGHHHHHHHHH... Brake fix $160, but they pointed out that the unibody frame of the whole car is disintegrating rapidly ($$$$).  cryingcrying  Something that I knew last fall but it seems this car is on it's last legs without substantial monetary input for unguaranteed repair.  The car's "Blue Book" value is only $800.  So now I need to decide if I try to keep this wonderful luxurious transport running or shoot it and plan my life around a once-a-day bus.  sad  Other options are: Taxi this far out of the city is not feasable.   And it's doubtful my budget could adapt to car payments even for a used car.  Boogers. frown  I knew this day was coming I just thought I could squeeze another couple of years out of it.

On the up side, I could get rid of my gasoline costs and car insurance payments!   And renting a nice car for a short summer adventure is still an option. smiley

I tried to do mobile order to get my dinner from starbucks.  I ordered my favorite chicken wraps from them.  I picked up my food forgetting an important step.  I called Uber and got home.  I sat at the table to take out my dinner to find out that there was no chicken wraps.  Everything else was there but not the wraps.   I called the store and they said they have been out the whlole day, which meant it was not on the uber.  I called the Starbucks 800 number and complained that I did not get my dinner.  they said I should not been able to order that since they were out.  I think I got a ten dollar credit back for the missing dinner.  At least I had a can of ravoli in my cupboard so I did get some dinner.

Last time I complained about a fast food restaurant was in the late '80s.  We lived in downtown Washington DC and were on the way back home.  We went through the drive-thru of a Popeyes chicken place located in a rather seedy part of DC.  We put in our order in the first window where they usually deliver the product through the same window.  We were told in hushed voice to drive down to the 2nd window and we could get the chicken for half price(!).  Not one to pass up a bargain we decided to see what the deal was.  We drove to the 2nd window, paid half price, picked up our chicken and went on home.  Then as we thought about it we realized that the employees were not ringing up the sale and were stealing the chicken but collecting half price for it.  Yes, we called the store manager and reported the situation. devil

    major complainnnnt

last couple weeks i been trying to un-granify my place to impress 10yo cousin.  sleepover tomorrow

bought a lovely new bathroom rug.  i'm all proud of it, i start closing bathroom door.  it snags the carpet, not enough clearance for a bathroom rug crying

my kitchenette table is 30years old. but is hiding under tablecloth, pictures of cupcakes on itsmiley
threw out my 2 rolling clothes.laundry racks had for over 20 years.  replaced with 1 of those cube systems.
packed up old paperbacks, mylilponies and beanie boos on the book shelves now.
had 3 like rolling towers of the sterilite plastic drawers.  threw out 2, only 1 stack of 8 drawers left.
threw out shoulderpad shirts and stirrup pants.  i've withered, nothing fits.

cant believe how much more space i'm seeing without those plastic drawer towers.  hotel sierra

...indeed rant worthy and makes me glad I don't have one of those four wheeled beasties to support, I'd feel like a single parent.

Granted I have the luxury of a decent transit system (as long as I can stay in the city) that costs me 1.25$ for a two and a half hour ticket (or 2.50$ for an all day pass).  Even have a ticket app on the smart phone so I don't have to fumble for "exact change" or remember to get a book of tickets when I am at the market.  If I rode daily it would cost me only 28$ for a monthly pass which is just 3$ more than I used to pay for a book of ten tickets before I was certified as being a broken down old geezer.  Sometimes getting older has its benefits.

    ..and now for  an "un-complaint.",

Received another couple letters from the SSA today, and my Disability claim has officially been approved.  Will see my first benefit payment in April, gotta love bureaucracy, but hey, after about two and a half years of denials, I'm just glad everything went though.  Still need to take some information down to the local office for the Supplementary Income portion as well as talk with my attorney to see if I can qualify for retroactive payments as well.

After that it is looking into getting on the Section 8 programme so I cna get my own living space again.Where I am now the rent for this one room would be about 50% of my income.  With Section 8 certification, it cannot be more than 31%.

Yep, can't agree more.  I'm almost 70 and I remember going to Niagara Falls with my parents back in the '50s many times because we lived so close.  And I almost remember there being something worth seeing on the American side, but even as a kid I realized how shoddy/seedy the shops and viewing areas on the American side are.  Back then it was super simple to get across the border.  The guards leaned in your father's window and asked "Where were you born?"  and "Anything to declare?" and as long as you said "USA" and "No" you were OK.  So we would make a quick stop on the American side but would then zip over to Canada to spend the rest of the day in the beautiful parks, restaurants and numerous interesting shops.

Unkempt parks, dirty streets, broken sidewalks, litter everywhere, dirty windows on sleazy shops, dangerous looking people lurking in alleys, etc...  Yea, the falls themselves are what they are, nature.  But the unappreciative attitude of the city of Niagara Falls, USA itself is an embarrassment.  The Canadian side oozes pride and costly maintenance.  The American side oozes cheapness and disinterested burdens.

It seems that the biggest tourist draw and cash generator is the gambling casino and you can probably guess how much that clientele cares about the ambiance of the area around the falls themselves.

I should organize the photos that are on my external drive.  I have about 715 photos to look at.  715 photos use about 1.99 GB of space.

Whee!   I am so happy for you, KK.

...thank you. I'ts been a long rosd sometimes a rough one, but finally.  Granted, it's not a "skittles and beer" lifestyle but better than worrying abount ending up on the street and I can get my own place again that I will actually be able to afford..
