    wonder what it could be?

Oh my god... it's full of stars!!

So, the announcement was about the 7 exoplanets, some in the Goldilocks zone. The best part is you can buy the real estate now! Just one catch ... The real estate office is on Mars!wink

The nearest I am likely to get is Baked Alaska, preferably with hot chocolate sauce.   http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/baked_alaska_with_hot_20041

-50° F (without wind) is very, very, cold. and the sun does not rise until almost 09:30 in the morning.

...actually, kind of glad I didn't get hired, though it paid pretty well even for Alaska standards. About the only thing to do in Fairbanks in your free time (especially in winter) is go to the pub and drink, and during the summer, practise improving your batting average on the mosquitoes. Then there are the winters which can be incredibly brutal even compared to Northern Wisconsin standards. Not sure my old bones and joints could take that these days.  Was hard enough when was 30 years younger and still reasonably pain and stiffness free.

There is daily train service to the "big city" of Anchorage, which makes Portland OR seem like an East Coast metropolis in comparison.  In fact, the entire state of Alaska's population is only 100,000 more than the City of Portland's (2015 estimate).

Thats too bad.  If you make good memories with your neices and nephews, it will come back to you.  They remember, and appreciate the time spent more than you know.  Take it from me, this is experience speaking.

she can still come over for playdates, but afternoon ones only.

was killin me, never saw so much wasting food.  grew up with fixing a plate of food for what we actually ate.
she piles a plate, eats the bit she wants, then throws it out.  even with the salad, picks what she wants with her fingers, i'm not gonna save whats left after she poking around it with her fingers.
    was a bit horrified

The local news people this morning had pictures of yesterday's annular eclipse... no, wait, they said (and the caption on the picture said) it was an 'annual eclipse'.  You know, it is not that hard to get stuff like this right.  There is no excuse for shoddy news writing.

    Autocorrect, probably.

    Autocorrect, probably.

No doubt!  laugh  Or just plain ignorance.  I see a lot of misspellings in professional publications these days.  Once in a while, it could be a typo, but this often...it's just plain apathy.  I think there are no longer any proofreaders in the publishing business.

Is it the right one?  Or is it the one that's left?

Complaint:  I quit caffeine a couple of years ago when I started having heart trouble.  No coffee, no tea, no chocolate either.  However, a few days ago I fell off the wagon and bought a couple of Dove solid dark chocolate bunnies because of the season.  Then because I was feeling so good I decided to splurge on my diet and have a real ice cream treat so I bought a half-gallon of quality ice cream, some chocolate sauce, and some mixed nuts to make big ice cream sundaes.  Now I'm paying for it.  I started getting mid-morning headaches but they'd go away after I had sundae or another big chunk of chocolate bunny.  Then I realized, DUH!, it's the caffeine and these are caffeine withdrawl headaches that I was once quite familiar with.  Now I've got to wean myself off of caffeine again.  Sob. crying
