I realize that this is unlikely, but I am interested in converting conforming clothing for the new figures backwards to use with the older Micael 4 / Victoria 4, David 4 figures.
(Why? Because I primarily use Poser and it takes too much effort to work with the Genesis figures in Poser).

I'm going to reach out to both RiverSoft Art Sickleyield and see if they can help, but I thought I would start here.

Yup, me too, Ivy. Categorized like a database, six ways from Sunday. Which is why I can quickly answer questions like "How many characters do you have for Victoria 4?". Answer: 1329. Have I used them all in a render? Actually, I have, but only because I also created reference renders for each so I could browse the thumbnails if I'm looking for something specific. I only use V4 as an example because, in terms of humans and their stuff, she's a heavyweight in the content repository.

At some point along the way it seems to have become more a case of collecting, like coins or stamps or doorknobs, rather than a matter of "I need that for a render!". Like Smaug sleeping on his pile of gold.

I think this is a good point; I enjoy the collecting aspect, and as hobbies go, there are worse for sure. I even do the occasional render I'm happy with.

I try to test drive everything at least once within a couple of weeks of purchasing; not necessarily make a full-fledged render with it, but just find it, load it up and look at it with Iray preview. (or try out shaders, scripts etc on something). For poser content, I then move it around in the runtime to fit my customized structure. If it's for a figure other than Genesis 3, I try to convert it to Genesis 3 content. I leave a copy of the order summary open in my web browser as a reminder to do this, until i am finished with a particular order. I try not to make a second purchase until I'm done testing the first; and when I fall down on that, I try not to make a third purchases until everything from the last two orders is accounted for.

I load them all, check out their textures - tweak them or adjust a lot (depends), and create a render in the A-pose; I don't consider that as using the item, I've merely got it to a stage where I might use it.

Since my OP, I'd reduced the number in need of loading up to 27; the pa and pc club sale had a seriously detrimental affect on that number - I've no clue, and am just working my way through. Then I might actually get to G2 before G9 arrives. I'm not able to place any bets on that, which is a good thing.

I've been collecting content since the introduction of Victoria 3. As a result I have multiple terabytes worth of content the majority of which has never been used. There are two forces that have been at work to cause this. First and foremost has been the Platinum Club, when I got started I didn't have much money, a fact that is sadly still true today. This made joining the Platinum Club a no brainer because it allowed me to get so much content at amazing prices. Those amazing prices become very hard to pass up and so I end up with so much content that I'll likely never need...but if I do, hey I got it at a great price. The second force at work is my imagination. More specifically the ability to look at content and imagine a way in which I might one day need that content. A third factor that deserves honorable mention has been the evolution of content. There is so much stuff I have bought with every intention of using it but before I do a new generation of characters is released and suddenly I'm obcessing over that and forget about all the old content that I meant to use. Then one day I remember all that old content and revisit it and I find myself thinking why did I ever by this? It's garbage compared to what is out there now. It's kind of like trying to go back to and be excited about playing Pong after you're used to playing GTA V. I still keep it all because I'm stubburn and keep telling myself that the day after I get rid of something will be the day that I finally need it. :)

Ah ok thank you much i will do that soon. However I do have a question that is rather frustrating me. I had gotten some weapon packs alittle while ago in the beginning, One was defently my bad because in the beginning I was not paying attention to the fact it said "victoria 4 michael 4" Now the other bundle I got did not say anything other thhan daz 4.10 and seems to have the right ingredients

Welcome back to the band wagon.  

Good news and bad news. 

Bad news first.    Daz's customer service has reportedly told people that Daz does not have the resources to support further development of Carrara at this time, and reportedly Daz has encouraged vendors who had created content that is Carrara-only (landscape sets that use Carrara replicated plants, hair products that use Carrara's strand-based dynamics, etc.) to create content for Studio instead.  Daz is not currently updating Carrara to take advantage of the newest figure rigging and high definition morphs.   

Good news.    Incredibly talented Carrara folks have continued to make Carrara a better-and-better creative program.  First, Mystara has identified some of the issues that have obstructed use of newer figure rigging in Carrara. If you go to that other site that rhymes with monstrosity, you wil find free G8F and G8M character sets by Misty that allow the Genesis 8 figure meshes to be used in Carrara.  G8M and G8F content in the Daz store can be used in Carrara with Misty's G8 characters if the items are converted to "blended" rigging (just a one step process).  Similarly, Misty created characters for Genesis 3 figures.  Those cost a nominal fee, but are well wrth it if you wish to use G3 content in Carrara.

Second,   the plugin folks continue to add functionality to Carrara. An example includes a plugin to add dynamic draping to Carrara (VWD by Gerald can be used with a Carrara plugin bridge by Philemo).  Again, see that other site that rhymes with monstrosity.  Several incredible new plugins are free!    Other free plugins include a shader randomizer for replicated objects, a fluid simulation plugin (FLUIDOS), a hair-to-mesh plugin, a phong plugin to improve bump to displacement, and more.  A couple are Windows.

Regarding content, my primary generation is genesis 2.  I have to do some minimal adjustment to shaders, but the G2 stuff works very well in Carrara.  I know that several other people have built large libraries of Victoria 4 / Michael 4 content and continue to use those.  UnifiedBrain even entered a Victoria 1 image in a recent challenge, and it was most excellent.  EDIT:  SteveK enters 48 hour film festivals relying on Carrara and his library of V4/M4 content.

@xyer0 Certainly not bored. :) I do have other commitments though. But I think the bigger problem is that I spend much more time working on a single character these days. During the Victoria 4 times you'd create a nice texture map, shape a pretty face, dial up a body morph and upload it to the store. These days it's HD morphs, normal maps, fancy iray shaders, real lashes and brows, etc etc. So while I was able to create a decent character in 1 or 2 weeks a couple of years ago it takes me at least 4 weeks now.

@DisparateDreamer Thank you. I think the eyes are the trickiest part of a character when it comes to realism and I always try to improve mine (but I'm never satisfied).

The Trahquilizer Guns are the only freebie directly from Daz. I don't recall if it was in the same section of the sales page, but it was definitely part of the Holiday Sale.

Original post: Has anyone done a list of all the Holiday freebies the PAs have put out this month?  I was going to try to do a render with a bunch of them in it, but I've forgotten a few, I think.  A list would be good, and someone usually does one, so I'm wondering if I've just missed it somewhere.

Eva 8 has Granny Hands!

*All the following renders done with the same 2 lights. First render is default Eva with medium translucency. You should be able to see the full size image with a right click, view image or open image in a new tab.

Look how angry Eva is! I'd be pretty unhappy too if my hands looked like Grandma's. There are 2 reasons for this. First the main texture has a lot going on her knuckles for some reason. The second is her normal maps are way too strong in this area. Its not as bad without the normals, but as I said the main texture still has a lot of lines on her knuckles. Its kind of werid.

Someone mentioned trying Altern8 on her, I have that. This is the Victoria 8 preset.

I'm not sure if it suits her. Her nose is reddish like she has a cold. Perhaps I could lower the translucency or try another preset. But I moved on to a totally different skin.

Here is Eva with Caitlyn's skin from the bundle. She's also using Caitlyn's firber brows.

Not bad, not bad at all. This is right out of the box. Her hands look much better, too.

How about going totally off base and using good old Dfeault Genesis 3 Jeane's skin. This is with my own surface settings.

She looks even angrier!

Funny enough, somebody mentioned Zelara, I had already made a test with her skin, too. This is default Zelara, she can be much nicier with a couple minor tweeks.

This one using BJ Misumi skin, still using Caitlyn's brows.

That's quite nice, IMO. Maybe Eva can start smiling again?

I wanted to experiment. I wanted to use Misumi's settings with Eva's skin. Eva's diffuse textures came out too orange (surprise), so I switched it up and used her SSS maps in the base color and transluncency sections.

Boom goes the dynamite!

So to get this result, I used Misumi's settings and Misumi's roughness/reflectivity maps. I only used Eva's SSS maps, and Caitlyn's brows.

Depending on what you're after and how picky you are, imo, this is probably one of his best bikinis here for G8F. There are two other products by him which have a slightly odd feature where the right strap that runs from the breast up to the neck is twisted, particularly in "Hongyu's Bikini 2 for Genesis 8 Female(s)" and "Hongyu's Bikini 2 for Victoria 7". It looks like he changed this for the newer product models.

You could use the ExP exporter to export your new morphs in a form that can be loaded with or injected into the regular version of the Victoria 4 figure - I'm not altogether surprised that you current route is giving trouble, though I think your solution is a trifle sledgehammer-to-crack-a-nut.

i am going to try your method. Didn't know that it existed until you posted your comment. I'm relatively new at Daz and I really appreciate the help.
