Rigging or Weight Maps?!
Possibly - though that would require posing the figure that way, baking the rotations so it functions as a new zero pose, using that as the avatar for the clothing creation, using the transfer utility, then counter-rotating the legs on the clothing and baking the rotations on that.
Hmmm, well thanks. That is something to keep in mind as I want to buy Marvelous Designer but maybe I will use a A pose for the legs instead of the splits..
Mirroring weightmaps from one object to another ? (gloves)Could you not have a figure with both hands, weight it using symmetry, then use the Transfer Utility to move the weights from the two-glove figure to the left glove and right glove figures?
Post Your Renders - Happy New Year yallHey Rocky, wanna see me pull a rabbit outta ma hat?

Used George morph and David's Santa suit. This is a crashed render ( postworked ) rescued from the DAZ temp folder as Carrara crashed out when I loaded a camel into the scene .. oops

Poke Away 3 For Genesis 3Yeah, morph brush would be really nice.. or failing that, even just having the d-former placement not be totally weird when you're trying to use it on an already posed thing. Using a d-former to adjust a skirt over a thigh on a sitting character... the field is like on her face and rotated 90 degrees, kinda messes with your head.
Rigging or Weight Maps?!Well my question is could of Jason avoided that problem by having the fellow do the splits before using the Transfer Utility?

Rigging or Weight Maps?!The Transfer Utility projects from the source mesh (the base figure) to the nearest part of the target mesh (your clothes). In tight spots, especially if the target is at a distance from the source, that can have odd results. That doesn't mean you can't do things like this, just that the Transfer Utility maps cannot be used as-is in these cases.
Smart Content EmptyThat sounds as if you were still using the Valentina database engine, presumably you have now installed PostgreSQL but the old database wasn't converted. Did you in fact run the Valentina to postgreSQL Conversion tool - if so it should be listed in the installed tab of Install Manager? If you did and it failed that probably indicates a corrupt Valentina databse (the tendency to corrupt was a major reason for the switch of engines). If you hadn't, back up your current database (Content Library option menu, the lined button in the top corner or right-click the tab, Content DB Maintenance, check Export, click Accept), then run the conversion tool - if that works it will transfer the old list across, but you may then need to reimport the metadata (again, Content Library option menu, Content DB Maintenance, check reimport this time, Accept, Accept) to get your own entries - I'm not certain on this, so look before you do the reimport..
Poke Away 3 For Genesis 3I like your suggestion Fisty, however it does assume that the poke through is due to a figure distortion which is comparable in shape to a pre-existing morph in the clothing. Probably this is true quite often. I think this is a good work around, along with hiding the body part below the clothing. Both ideas can work but each has disadvantages. In the case of applying an existing morph in the clothing, this might end up changing the shape of the clothing a bit too much. I guess the best thing is to try it and see if it works. However, would it not be wonderful if DAZ brought simple tools like brushes into DS, which could be used to solve these annoying problems easily and quickly. Other 3d programs have these tools, some have had them for years. I'd just like to see DS brought up to date in this area.
My Freebies Newest--Coming soon.Well...a little experiment on my part.
It was mentioned in a 'folded clothes' thread that you could probably do something by flattening out the base character and making a morph, to use as a way to get 'hanging clothes'. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/123356/folded-clothes-option
This is the result of my experimenting with that idea.

Damn cool! =))
um...anyone know where I can get a clothes hanger?

Loads of them (should show free ones first, grab the OBJ ones): http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Index.cfm?keyword=clothes+hanger&sort_column=A5&sort_order=asc
Replacement for GeoGraftingI see what Daz is doing here but the problem is there is no way to do custom sculpting on the graft while it's grafted to the figure (mudbox/zbrush/ whatever)
Horns, Tails, Anatomical Elements, feet/hoofs etc all have to be deleted and sculpted separately.
Is there a way to get an object with the grafts back into daz and then transfer all rigging, weight maps, controllers, and the whole library of morphs onto the new figure?
Rigging or Weight Maps?!Thomas:
Thanks! I made them using Marvelous Designer and then used the Transfer Utility.
Jason
Rigging or Weight Maps?!1) It can be anywhere - you just have to make sure the weight maps and rig are correct.
2) That is a weight map issue. A few of the polygons from his right leg are assigned to the left thigh. That's why they stretch like that on picture 3.
3) Weight maps. You basically have weight painted on the wrong thigh of the pants.
How did you make these pants? Transfer Utility?
settings for cloth (posing)I sort of agree with Richard in that rigging an outfit just is not worth it, unless there is a sizable return on the effort pout into something you paid for. Preset pose morphs can look better on the poses that the morph dials were made for, other poses may vary depending on situation. I don't think I have that night guard tunic (That one?), tho I do have another G2F thing that also dose not move with bone placement (morph dials only). It just is not worth my time/effort as an end user to fuss with the outfit, and others love using the thing. I know your grief bluey90, I've been there. It's an ultra cheep PC+ item that the merchant isn't getting a lot for, so I've come to expect some thing left out of such things the PA isn't getting much for. And not all PC+ items are like that, just some.
The rest is a tad advanced regarding my difference in point of view with rigging a skirt/tunic to look good with custom bones using bone-placement and 'weight variation' between bones (I know it's there, don't know how to myself, discussion for another place and time). For here we will just leave it at, it can be a lot of work with incredibly expensive software (err Rent-were) for little return for paying the bills and putting food on the table.
how to transfer DAZ to a new PCIf you used Poser content in your scenes DazStudio made internal /data/ folders and files "auto_adapted" - make sure you are transferring those too!
Yes Im glad you said that about the auto adapted files! There is a problem with an error like that when I load some scenes .duf I do have some poser content as well. I am not sure but I have two autodapted folders with the same files. I didn't transfer something right ? Could you assist? Thank you
I did do a fresh Daz Install latest version onto my SSD and re-install using DIM. Then copied all Daz folders I could find on my old HDD to my new SDD. Some things work without error but some do not.
i posted screen shots here on another post
Problem with Elbow BendWhich figure is that? You may need to make sure you export the JCMs in the Morph Rules, though I'm nto sure how they would convert to C4D.
settings for cloth (posing)When posing you are using a simpler form of skin-binding - often it has the opposite effect, only part of the mesh moves during manipulation and the rest snaps into place only on releasing the mouse. This has nothing to do with smoothing or morph auto-follow, it's a rigging thing - there's no way (that i know) to use the manipulation mode as a final mode - in order to get the outfit to follow the legs you would need to rerig it, but then you would see why this isn't the preferred emthod of rigging as it makes the robe look as if it's stitched to an invisible pair of trousers.
Change color to shadowsMake that plane a better match to the surface before you make it Matte.
Similar skin colour and reflectivity, and even a slight curve, these will all help to modify the shadow and transfer skin colour onto the bullet.
Hellfish Morphs... WhenWill: They're worth the price, IMHO. Plus, they transfer to Gen2 via GenX pretty well (though he made a G2F set for his morphs, sans the Catfolk. Never did a G2M set for some reason), if you have the plug-in and primarily use Genesis 2.
There are a few little qualms with importing the morphs to Genesis 3 (mostly with finger morphs and sometimes there's a warped tooth/tongue), which is why I'm all the more happier he's making Genesis 3-native morphs. They can't come soon enough!
