3D printer experience?

Dear experts, I just noticed that you can buy a 3D printing licence for some items, e.g.
dForce Moonveil Outfit for Genesis 9 | Daz 3D
I searched the Forum but there was no mention of how to actually do such a print. Don't you need an STL file?
Excellent printers like the Prusa One can handle four color prints, so there might be some fun to be had. Make your own Barbie and Ken combo?

you are allowed to make your own 3D print
Blender will export an STL file and you probably need to make it watertight there anyway
(I don't know how as I use Carrara and Zbrush and I bricked my DRM locked DaVinciXYZ Filament printer years ago because it wouldn'd recognise its own propiatry cartridges so gave up pretty early)
Thanks! I have a new printer arriving next week, so maybe I can try it out. Not too keen on having to learn Blender, though.

There used to be a plug-in offered that converted Daz to the proper file, which is STL.

To be clear, it is not necessary that the file is STL format; this is a common standard for distribution of 3D print files, but a lot of the software will also handle other formats such as OBJ, as long as the mesh is watertight and otherwise suitable.
In the end, these aren't even the files that are used by the printers themselves anyway; the software has to convert them to instructions for the individual printer - be that G-code that provide nozzle head pathing (for an FDM type printer) or individual exposure layers (for an LCD resin printer).
Depending on the printer slicing software, it does not necessarily require the model to be closed on each slice. One of the versions of ChiTuBox for my SLA printer just required each slice to be a closed profile and didn't need the layer below or above to be closed, meaning that low hanging clothing could work and get solidified (not necessary to have a manifold on all layers).
