That's something I've definitely noticed about the ones that are being sold as DAZ originals, though there is more variety in the non-DO product. The thing is, by my count he's knocked out over 85 characters for G9 in a few weeks over 3 years, and a full third of them are DAZ PC+ items. I don't know what an Artist gets paid for a DAZ buyout, but given that DAZ is really the only "customer" customer in those cases, is it a surprise that those items overwhelming lean towards the establiched store predilections?
It has more to do with the fact that creating a character from scratch takes a lot of time, and with all the sales, coupons, etc., characters end up being sold here for less than three bucks, so, to make the business feasible, you create one from scratch, then you make others that are variations of the latter, so your business is sound. One can expect PAs to always create entirely new characters and, at the same time, purchase them for less than $3 bucks. Like, I'm not saying you have any obligation to buy them: we can always vote with our pockets, and I also refrain from buying a new character when I notice I've bought it three times already (if not more) -- I'm just stating the reality PAs face when they create their products, combined with their real price values.

exactly. Its why i stated they need to be spiced up. Even those were getting too much with all the similar tats. Similar faces. Its difficult to create new unique characters though, especially when there's so many already. That's why Feng is decent, but now his old er women are starting to look similar. I think a part of it is if you're working solely with the G9 model ad its existing morphs. No matter what is done they remain similar. The good different ones are zbrush modeled or whatever. maybe I'm wrong but maybe not
It has nothing to do with ZBrush... There's this myth that, "if ZBrush (or Blender, or Maya) = good; if Daz = bad..." I can make thousands of different characters in Daz, while in ZBrush (or a similar program) you can do the same thing over and over from the same starting point... Moreover, to make something good in "ZBrush" -- here, meaning "sculpting" -- one has to be a good sculptor -- I've seen a lot of deformed characters that were obviously done in some ZBrush-like software, and the "sculptor" was really incompetent. Moreover, there's also this "myth" that it's only good or original when someone doesn't use dials -- while all those programs also have dials or directly input parameters for precision (and, on the other hand, Daz has its own Geometry sculptors, plus there are other plugins for those who don't like the Premier solution).
no myth or bad in what I was saying. When you are using the same base with the same morphs, your underlying base is the same, and thus similar looking characters. Sculpting can change up the deal. How many sisters are there within the stock G9 chatacters.
Morphs can do the deal the same way as sculpting (of course, I'm talking about partial morphs that target specific parts and not full body morphs or full head morphs). And, dude... I don't know if by "stock G9 characters" you mean the "core" Daz characters (Victoria & co. -- which, by the way, aren't core for anything since long)... If so, most of them look the same (and since a long time ago...) Like, experiment with rendering them all with the same skin to verify this fact... If I misunderstood what you mean by "stock G9 characters," sorry, but, then, I 'm curious to know what it is.

I'm not following why this observation would be limited to G9 based characters. I feel the same way about many of the G8 based characters that continue to be produced. I've also seen that some artists are able to create in their unique style, yet still produce interesting characters, whether it's with G9 or G8.
There are a lot of factors at play and it's definitely not limited to just G9 or the use of z-brush.. though it's worth pointing out that while the first demonstration of z-brush and release the original Victoria figure both came out in 1999, there really wasn't a publicly available version of Z-brush until until 2003, so z-brush's relationship with DAZ really only began during the run of Victoria 3 period, with z-brush not coming into it's full-dominance until Victoria 4. That said, even during the Victoria 3 days there were artists whose characters consitantly had a certain "look" that always shown through, some more strongly than others. Ultimately, while the tools certainly influence thiings, I think it's akin to how things are in the world of illustraion, as it mainly comes down to what the individual artists are interested in and find aesthetically pleasing. I think most people can immediately recognize a lot of artists styles automatically, even if they don't necessarily know who the artists are, and it's easy to spot a character by Frazzetta, a pinup girl by Gil Elvren or a a superhero by Jack Kirby.. The thing is, they're all realistic versions of human beings and while there are those who kvetch at times that most of Frazetta's barbarians are pretty much indistinguishible from each other, I don't think there are many who would turn down the opportunity to have an original. If you don't like a particular 3D figure, that's fine... no one is twisting your arm... and if enough people stop buying from a certain vendor because they think the products that are coming out are too similar. it's up to the PA to be aware of that trend and make course corrections as they see fit.
Oookay, I have to eat my words today, as the new Golden Ticket is really really generous and well worth the price (https://www.daz3d.com/mb-danniella-hd-for-genesis-9-bundle). I love MB's bundles anyways. It's just a pity that many of her newer (not 'new' in the technical sense) bundles don't seem to be getting the featured artist base discount. But I suppose that only some stuff from the stores is generally included there. Still, I'll be getting some that have been on my WL for a while. Nice!
I agree the bundle is a great deal and a very generous offer. I encourage anyone who likes it to buy it; but I must still say no thank you. It's not to my taste and I would not use it.

There are many great PAs on Daz, and if they participate this year, we're bound to see some amazing things. I remember last year there were at least a few stunning ones.
I'm on the fence about today's GT.... very generous offer, but I kind of have a case of the ick that she looks young/the outfit is meant to be young... and yet there are undress morphs for the clothes. I know it could be argued that they're meant for if you use it for an older character, but... just me, maybe.

Not just you, I'll be removing those morphs, and making the top a bit longer.
And yes, it does add an ick factor to the undress morphs.
It doesn't show this figure in the undress morphs. The clothes can be worn by an adult. The benefit of Daz autofit is you don't need to buy size XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL clothing or dresses is size 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and so on or shoes in various sizes. And thus the "same" cute sweater can be worn by a teen and by a 40 year old.
Railing against clothing with weird cutouts and sideboob is one thing. This is a nice outfit that supports dressing morphs.
@joanna thanks! I always hope something appealing to me turns up, but I've plenty of stuff in library that suits my taste perfectly. I'm spending more time with all that, and it's a wonderful thing.

Looking through the "you may also be interested in the following products" section, it would seem that's kind of MB's thing. Out of seven shown outfits bundled with young-looking people, over half of them have undress morphs.
I think I might buy it for the hair, and maybe the jeans and shoes. The rest is... not to my taste.
Every garment should have a way of being put on and taken off. For me, this garment doesn't even deform. StudioRQL's clothing truly deserves to be called transformable.
I'm not interested in this character. This artist occasionally releases young female characters and likes to sell them bundled with costumes. I think this is unintentional.
This bundle didn't contain any of the products I needed.
People consuming too much media have been conditioned to see 25-30 year olds playing as 18 year olds in Hollywood and I think it warps their concept of what is a teen. Most of MBs characters look 18 and over to me. Maybe a couple of them are slightly younger.
Also bear in mind, some cultures, Americans especially have such unhealthy diets that teens in the US look much older than teens in places like Japan. Some of this is genetic but some is absolutely bad diet.
As a reminder, these are college girls in the 1970s. Every time I look at this I am reminded how old I am and also how much worse our diet has destroyed our youth. Yes we all get older and we all forget what young healhy adults look like.
...the clothing and hair interest me as well (don't use G9 for much else) Yeah, a pretty good deal even for 4 USD (currently have no D+ subscription).
So does the hair use Omni shaders of standard Iray? I'm on an older version of Daz that does not support Omni shaders. In the past I've purchased G9 hair products that didn't specify which shaders were used but turned out to be Omni based so I had t return them.
Also for the clothing, are the shaders hierarchal or standard?
Sadly the difference in the mesh and mapping between 8 and 9 are difficult to resolve for full character conversion to G8, save for clothing and hair. I like the character (not as stylised ad 3DU;s) but not about to spend a small fortune on G9 add on utilities and plugins (also here are no tools like like Xev0's Skin Builder and XTransfer for G9).
In he cart bur haven't clicked the buy button yet.
I would love to know if the BEACH PROPS released today - if the ones made for a person - like the swimming googles - can be fit to G8 or any character, Thanks in advance for a reply.
All this reminds me of a neighbor I had sevsral years ago. When I met here she was wearing jeans and a t-shirt with a cartoon cat on it, since it was a school day I asked if she shouldn't be in school and
after she finished laughing she informed me she was 34. She looked 15. Yes I was totally embarassed

Thanks for sharing your research. I only have one MB character, which I got for the textures, which regularly act up for no discernible reason. I admit that hadn't incentivized me to get any others, but now I'm even less inclined.
Others can of course follow their own concience and sensibilities, but for me it's a hard nope.

I'm usually very much with you on this topic, I think we did even discuss MB specifically in this regard before. With the new bundle, I feel she's been putting a brake on the 'teenager's clothes being pulled off' morphs, as from the promos, there are noticably fewer than before, and not so, ah, specific ones. Also, I appreciate it that she didn't show them in action on the character anymore. Maybe that PA is reading the forums from time to time, and taking action accordingly? Would love to see that happen. Anyways, this new bundle seems okay to buy for me personally. Just my 2 cents, of course!

Add to it, that children are usually not born fully clothed and later often tend to change their clothes sometimes, which makes them need to put other clothes on. I'd rather not think about the reaction of a set with poses that show parents helping their children putting clothes on - like helping them with the buttons and stuff that parents usually do each and every day for several years when their children can't do it themselves.
Setting floor price at $2.99 for the items discounted by the Golden Ticket gives the incentive of NOT buying Golden Tickets as their discount is applied automatically. So with a Golden Ticket, a cheap, $3.5 item will be actually more expensive than if you didn't have a GT and just used the promo code for 30% off. And once the item reached the $2.99 floor price from GT, daily coupon code is invalid on that item, meaning you can't have 30% off from the GT and extra 30% off from the coupon, and since coupon doesn't have a floor price, it's more attractive than the GT (again, cheap items, maximizing the offer; it doesn't matter if you're buying more expensive stuff). Tokens, of course, work to bring it down, but the bottom line is: if you're looking for old items already discounted heavily, you're better off not having the GT, which defeats the incentive of getting it.
It's a small thing, but shows how floor prices are annoying. I can see how Daz is trying to balance "crazy good discounts" and actually getting some money they have to share with PAs, but to me, it turns "an awesome sale during which I'll probably max out my budget" toward "meh, whatever; I'll probably get some golden tickets if they're good and call it a day."

I grabbed the bundle too, too good a price to pass. I'll convert the clothes and hair to G8 and maybe, possibly the character mats as well.
It is definitely one of the best golden ticket items I've seen. Three new items for $3 is a steal.
I agree the bundle is a great deal and a very generous offer. I encourage anyone who likes it to buy it; but I must still say no thank you. It's not to my taste and I would not use it.

Is Daniella supposed to be a child or an adult? I didn't see any info on the product page.
she loads the same size as a default G9 but her body & face proportions are IMO similar to those of a pre teen or early teen. YMMV
I assumed she was a young teenager. The rabbit sweater reads youthful to me but not young adult.
Looks like preteen to early teen to me.

as someone born in the 60s, I definitely looked exceedingly young for my age until my mid 30s
and dressed childishly
age caught up and raced me to the finish line afterwards
however that character looks 14
I still bought the bundle though

Methods to increase profits: 1. Increase the original price. 2. Announce a guaranteed minimum price from now on, regardless of discounts.
Otherwise, I would skip these promotions and wait until there are no minimum guarantee requirements.
I won't care about the minimum guarantee price for products I truly love.
