I just bought this today and it's great, but...

When I right-click on Upper Body/Full Body and choose Reset, it also resets the face back to the default Genesis base figure by zeroing out all face/head shape morphs. Tested on G8 male and female with the same results. Haven't tried G9. Running V4.23.

Right-clicking and resetting on the Head tab doesn't alter the morphs.

    Is this the intended behavior?

Yes, but how much sense it makes when you put it like that is debatable. The head has a separate reset expressions so I probably thought reset head shouldn't also reset expressions. But then upper body does? Technically expressions are part of the upper body of course, it does make some sense. Meh, i don't know. You can never win with this type of stuff smiley

Expressions are what I'd expect to be reset, but character face shapes should remain the same, shouldn't they? It doesn't reset the body character shapes, only the head.

I want the head to reset its pose, but I'd rather it keep the actual character's face. I start with a character - Holt8, for example- but when I reset the upper body, his face is gone; just the default G8M face remains. Holt8 Head slider is zeroed out.

If this is the intended behavior, then fair enough. I just need to go through all my characters and lock any sliders I don't want to inadvertently be reset. Just wanted to bring it to your attention in case it was a bug.

Shaping should not be touched at all. You discovered a bug, I was just able to replicate this. Merely loading a character does not do it, needs to have other dials changed on top and only those will get reset. Will fix ASAP.

Ok, that makes sense. I didn't load a preset character- I used G8 Base and just modified it with a few dials when I was testing. Body shape dials weren't affected, just the head, as far as I could tell.

Using Full Body | Reset turns off  3DU's Time Machine On/Off parameter. I intend to correct this by locking the parameter but I was curious. That parameter's settings says "type" = "None". If the type were one of the shape types, would pose zone skip over it?

It might, but it sounds like a bug either way. What does this thing do?

Oh, yeah, the page is gone now.

3DU Time Machine is a set of age morphs. It has 3 non-hidden parameters:

    Age: 0-99, default 25

Time Machine Enable Female: On/Off, default Off

Time Machine Enable Male: On/Off, default Off

When one of the enable parameters is on, varying the age away from 25 morphs the G9 figure (proportion changes mostly. Some spine bending for older ages, etc.)

I guess I have to stop using this for figure resets. It's a shame because it's easier to reach than a menu item and works on hands and arms so quickly. Maybe those are still safe:

I couldn't figure out why the character's head kept changing. (And yes, the head is a trainwreck with those three mixed heads. That isn't the point and I only noticed because I'm trying to fix this character.)

    Steps to reproduce

    1. Create a character from a preset so that one of their head shapes has 100% as the default
    2. Mix in a few more head shapes for science (or laughs)
    3. Right click the BJ Pose Zone Full Body button and select Reset

I did discover that locking the age items above did work. But I shouldn't have to lock all the shaping parameters to use Reset.

    Good luck, BJ. :)

I think I fixed that but never pushed out an update. Are you a Patreon subscriber per chance?

I will be, eventually. I have a free sub. But I'm waiting for your big posing tool (forget the name) to mature a bit more. sad It looks awesome but I am not inclined to be an alpha tester.

It's surprisingly solid, if I do say so myself. Barely any bug reports :)

This has been a godsend, and especially the way it can ignore things, like moving the figure around the scene. It's really great. Pose from the DAZ store mostly behave because of thee DAZ rules.Poses from other sources can re-scale the character, whole or parts, send it flying off out of sight because the creator used Body to move the character isntead of hip, all sorts of things,as they genrally save pose presets that include every scale, translation and rotation from the Body on down. This plugin deals with all of that.

    But ...

The last four days, hunting through all my pose sets to find poses easy to adapt to the scenes in the story I'm rendering, for some reason almost all the ones I've wanted to use are hierarchichal poses, which it doesn't work on. And the thing is, in each case I only want the effect of the main pose on the selected figure. The figure either doesn't have the prop or graft or whatever is included in the hierarchical pose anyway, or I don't want it to affect an attached graft and it does. If BJ Pose Zone would just work on hierarchical poses and apply just the part that's posing the selected figure and ignore the reat, that would be great and stop me groaning eveyr time I drag a pose to it and get the message it can't do anything because it's hierarchical. Please ...

Yes that would be another great 2.0 feature, which is in the works. I'll see what I can do.

  • bluejauntebluejaunte Posts: 2,293

And wearable presets that include a pose would make sense too right.

Absolutely. Sounds great - and if you need a tester ..,

Some tiers on Patreon get early access to such unreleased stuff smiley

  • DavidGBDavidGB Posts: 665

Ooh - that Rapid Pose looks VERY interesting. May well subscribe to Kilo, maybe Mega for that. But the Giga tier that says it gives access to other plugins is too expensive, sadly:been disabled and just on benefits for years.

  • bluejauntebluejaunte Posts: 2,293

Yeah that's the main attraction. You haven't seen that yet? There's a thread here too: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/767111/bj-rapid-pose-faster-posing-better-ik-in-out-of-daz-studio/p1

  • DavidGBDavidGB Posts: 665

No, han't seen that. After starting with Poser in early 2004, switching to DS on the day the 0.9 public beta was released, and being all over the forums for several years, it mostly came to a crashing stop when I became disabled in 2007. Kind of kept up on the new figures, reading DS release notes etc, and bought stuff for what I might want to render, but didn't then use it. Picked up again recently - first time using Iray insetad of 3Delight! Had read about dForce but never used it. Now rendering out a story I'm posting on DeviantArt. But I have a limited capacity to focus on things, so new things like your stuff, unless it comes up while I'm searching for a solution to a problem or I see it in the store (already have sevral of your products), I know nothing. And I want to get on bieng productuve rather than spend days and days reading old forum threads.

But I'ma Kilo member now, and just installing BJ Rapid Pose. Am caught between wanting to try and learn it, or getting on with the series I'm rendering and posting.

Will it, say, keep a hand attached to a graft while posing the graft?

Ah cool, welcome in. Get on Discord too. Yep, should do. :)

  • DavidGBDavidGB Posts: 665

Might be worth me taking the time out to try to understand it then right now.

I post on a few forums when needed over issues. I've never done Discord, or any social media (have never had accounts with or used Facebopok, instagram, Twitter/X etc).

  • bluejauntebluejaunte Posts: 2,293

Discord is a bunch of chat channels. Not sure I would call it social media, it's more like what IRC used to be.

  • DavidGBDavidGB Posts: 665

Back in the 90s, lot of use of a few Usenet newgroups, Then quite active on some forums, like here. mostly collecting rreports of trouble with particular products from other stores in Poser format with DS 1,2, 3, and diagnosing the issues to give the details fo what needed fixing to the DS devs. But since 2007 I'm living in pain, thick brain fog, only intermittent flashes of memory (side effects of pain meds), and have a limted ability to focus on things as focusing on anything causes rising pain, and when I stop the pain doesn't stop, it just stops rising. So I need to ration my limted able-to-focus time and I'm not inclined to 'chat', in real life or on the internet. I'm afraid all you're likely to get from me are questions where I don't understand, maybe bug reports if I'm sure it's a plugin and not the functionally idiot operator, and perhaps requests.

Now I must get back to posing a hand. It's a G8M and I hadn't realised there's a problem that the thumb won't pose in ways a real one will!

If not Discord then probably switch to the Rapid Pose thread for questions. Happy to answer either way! Top left is a config menu, you can check the keyboard shortcuts there for a good overview of functionality.

OK, thanks. I'm in the middle of a sequence (one's rendering now) and don't want to 'lose my thread', given how hard I find it to remember what i was doing at the ebst of times, so am leaving investigating the plugin for now. But soon. DS's built in IK I've been using is ... not without issues.
