Richard, thanks for sharing more of your "cat history!" I was going to say more, but my head is still quite fuzzy.

What a wonderful way to start my day! Tom is such a handsome cat!

I'm getting ready for an eventful day.

I get a haircut at 9:30 AM. I usually get a haircut once a year... perhaps. I lose track.

I get the hair cut very short. They use a "number 4" guide on the shears. I find the process to be much simpler than "a little of the sides," etc.

Everyone loves my hair after a haircut.

I have lunch from 11:30-Noon. Then at 2 PM, we have a big "Winter Carnival" Social party. We expect a packed room of about 100 people.

Last January I had lost hearing in my right ear. I had not yet received my hearing aids. I felt quite isolated.

I'll be able to hear better today. However all that noise overwhelms me and my hearing aids.

I'll likely have one or two alcoholic drinks. It will be fun sitting with all my friends.

Hmm it would seem Tom can't spell important words. On the other hand, he can recognise my excellent acrobatic skills, so I suppose that is a very minor flaw.

I've been telling my friends about this story. They are very interested.

However, most of them either don't have computers or understand how they would navigate to DAZ3D.

Barbult, I would like to show my friends your entire story. I'd do it on a large HD TV in our dining room. Many of my friends would be very interested in seeing your story.

Barbult, would that be ok with you? You could attract an audience of up to 100 people.

If you like, I'd be happy to provide people with any links or info you'd like. You know, web site address, bio info, whatever.

Well, Tom does idolize you, and you have often demonstrated here in the forum that correct spelling of human language is unimportant to a cat. wink I think Tom may have learned that from you, actually. But, because I respect and appreciate you, I flew back in and corrected Tom's little faux pas for him.

Ron, I would be pleased if you showed the stories and renders to your friends. The more people who can laugh and have a good time, the better.

I did think it was a case of the Richard calling the Tom "orange" - especially as there was nearly a typo (that I noticed) in the reply.

    Thanks, Barbult.

I'll likely talk to someone in the office next week. We've had a very frantic time this week.

We had an emergency with our heating system, and a Winter Carnival celebration just now.

I had a little bit of whisky in my hot chocolate. I sat with some of my lady friends, and had a nice chat.

Now it's 3:30 PM, and I'm ready for a nap. (Senior Citizen!)

I get such a kick out of your replies. I imagine I am not the only one.
It's strange that the forum SCAYT thinks Richad is a fine word.

    Two Down, Three To Go

Richard had helped two of the Toms find good homes; three more to go...

Angela: Knock knock. Ron, I brought you an afternoon snack.
    Ron: Come in!
Angela: Oh, look at all those pretty cats! Where did they come from, Ron?
Ron: The one over on your far left is my friend, Richard Haseltine. The others are some distant relatives of his. This one on my lap is Tom. I adopted him today! The other three still need a good home. Are you interested in having a cat companion, Angela?
Angela: Oh, I hadn't thought about it, but living alone is a little quiet and lonely sometimes. It might be nice to have a warm friendly cat to share my space with. That one on the right is sound asleep. I wouldn't want to disturb him. The one in the front looks very stern and his claws are out. I don't think I could handle him! But the one in back, close to you and Tom, looks like he really wants to go with me. I'll take him down to my first floor apartment and see if he feels at home.
Ron: Take the box he is in, too. His name is Thomas, and he really likes that box.
Richard (whispers to Thomas): First floor! No dealing with the metal curtain and magic floor! Easy access to outside! You can watch out the window for the brown truck of boxes! You hit the jackpot, Thomas. Be your best lovable self, so Angela keeps you. She looks like a kind lady. She brought Ron a snack.
Richard (whispers to Tommy): Pull in those claws! Humans, especially women, don't like claws. You might snag their sweater, or scratch their child, or rip up the furniture. You won't find a good human to serve you if you show those claws. They will take you to the vet (!!!) and cut those claws off. The vet might cut off other critical stuff while you are there. That would be bad!
Tommy: Yes, that would be bad! I will heed your good advice in the future, Richard.

Oh my I wonder what Angela looks like, and what snack she brought me.

I love dill pickles, potato chips, licorice, etc. But most any snack will do.

    I have a Home!

Angela: What do you think, Thomas? Would you like to live here with me? I'll take good care of you. We can put your box over there in the sunny window corner, where you can look outside and feel the warm sun while you nap. Your brother Tom can come down and visit, along with Ron. I'll get on my computer right now and order you some cat food and cat treats and cat toys and a cat bed. The boxes should arrive tomorrow or the next day, and then you'll be all set. I have some canned tuna and even a couple cans of sardines for your supper, until the boxes of cat supplies come tomorrow.
Thomas: Yes, yes, yes! I have a home with a good human who will treat me like a king! Boxes are coming!!!!!
Angela: I still have some more dill pickles and licorice. We'll invite Ron and Tom down tomorrow. Hmm, I wonder if cats can eat pickles and licorice? Maybe I'd better add some more tuna to my online order before I submit it.

Angela looks a lot like Angela 9, with some aging morphs applied. wink

Oh my, look at the view. Angela looks marvelous. The world outside the window looks great also!

Thomas certainly will have a wonderful life!

I am confusing myself - why wouldn't Thomas need the lift [elevator] on the first floor, I asked myself. UK the first storey is the ground floor, the first floor is the second story (the first wth a floor as such, presumably)

Now I'm confused. Here in the Frozen North of Minnesota, it works this way (I think!).

First floor is "1." Then we have an elevator button marked "G." We call it the Garden Level, but I think that's the Ground Level.

There's a bit of a hill or rise in the back or side yard. There is also a courtyard out there.

I live on the 5th floor. That's likely known a Level 5. But we don't usually use the word "Level."

Richard Heseltine: Absolutely. Buildings go (listing upwards down the list)

    • Ground,
    • First,
    • Second etc

It appears that in most countries where drivers drive on the wrong side of the road, the building floors go (in reverse order of altitude, starting at negative local relative altitude)

    • Sub basement (optional)
    • Basement (less optional)
    • First (at ground level, probably not optional at all)
    • Second
    • Third etc

Seems strange that you don't come into the lowest floor at ground level.

Having said that, my aunt had a bungalow on a slope that had a single story on one side and three floors on the other side. The ground floor at the front of the bungalow was the first floor on the other side above the ground floor. So she really had a ground floor and a lower ground floor, with the first floor at the top of the Bungalow. And bungalows only have a single story. No, I didn't understand it either. She was odd. Very, very, very clever, but odd. I think the bungalow reflected her in many ways.

    Regards,

    Richard.

@barbult - your stories just get better and better!

I was about 7 pages behind (I stopped looking when a got a few of those "Content not viewable in your region" messages) but today I decided to make the effort to catch up. I especially loved the tinsel-tail stories and the lift (elevator) images. Can't wait to see what happens to the last two kitties! (But I'm NOT in the market as my husband has a bit of a cat aversion)

Where I live, in Florida, the 1 (first floor) is at street level. My doctor's office elevator has two buttons, 1 and 2. Button 2 takes me up one floor to her office. 1 takes me back down to the street level (ground). YMMV. In my story, Richard clearly understands this. In my story world, location seems quite fluid to Richard. He has tea with King Charles and goes punting on the river. But he also doesn't have to go far to walk to Dodge City in Kansas, Daz in Utah, or the Mustang Ranch in Nevada. The location of Ron and Angela's building is ambiguous, as is where Richard and Lola live. Characters live or travel to locations I want to render. You may have noticed that my stories are not constrained by facts!

barbult, I lived in Florida for a few years. I was in Largo, which is near Clearwater & Tarpon Springs. Tampa was a bit further down the road.

The map would be like the Hundred Acre Wood, or soemthing from Calvin and Hobbes (hmm, another gingerish cat).

OK, @MelanieL, I let you off the hook for cat adoption. Richard is getting low on human friends, though. barbult is a macaw, acb is an owl, Rob is a shark (probably a land shark, since he has legs). richardandtracy is also evidently a cat, judging from his avatar. Background and SapphireBlue appear to be human candidates. Wendy is a cat and she wants to get Richard "fixed", so that just won't work! Then we have the receptionist and hairdresser Tom (appropriate name) at the hair salon, who might be candidates.

    Walk This Way

Richard: OK, guys. Walk this way.
Richard: No, no,no. I didn't mean we have to march in lock step. I only meant follow me in this direction.
    Tom-Boy: Oh.
Tommy: I'm getting homesick. I miss mama. I'm kind of a mama's boy, I guess. I don't want to be picked last here. That would be a blow to the ego, you know. I think I want to go home to Dodge City. I've learned a lot from you, Richard. I think mama's friend Matt has human friends that would be a good match for me, and I could be near mama. Yes, I want to go back home!
Richard: Well, OK, as you wish. Do you think you can find your way back on your own?
Tommy: Oh, gosh, probably not! That's a problem.
Richard: I'll draw you a map before you go.

    Snacks and Boxes

Angela: My goodness, Thomas! What has you jumping up and down so excitedly? Do you see Ron and Tom coming? I have the snacks all ready. They should be here soon...Oh, I see, the UPS truck is here. They must be bringing the cat supplies I ordered for you.
Thomas: Brown truck! Boxes! Boxes! Boxes are coming!

[For anyone wondering, Angela's apartment is one of those Daz+ freebie ugly black interiors that I completely remodeled with shaders and added accessories. The outdoors is an HDRI.]
