today was terrible for me ... couldn;t get in for hours then couldn;t attach an image to a post. It finally worked tonight.

  • I got the handshake one this week!

In a related note, I got a Bad Gateway on another site - and the page said something like, "Sorry, this is totally on us, it's not your computer or anything you did, please come back and see us later." I liked the messaging.

This morning was a festival of Bad Gateway, and it went on for a while, too. It was CloudFlare. Seems better now.

This is what CLO-Set reported as the reason it was down.

    •

    • Reason : The Cloudflare firewall service was unavailable.

    • Resolution : The Cloudflare firewall service was restored.

  • Another site I frequent was having a Cloudflare problem today.

Thanks for the info. Also, thanks to your post, I discovered a 3D clothing store also called clo-set. Not sure I'll shop there, but I will at least give it a look.

Wait... What CLO-Set are you talking about?

The Cloudflare issue was global, according to local news.

Which reminds me of a youtube video I watched the other day where they said that everyone had become way too dependent on cloud services.

Anyway, Daz forums are still wonky - when I back up a page using the browser back, the pages sometimes pop up without styling.

Yes. Web was meant to be decentralized and redundant. Instead, it's become highly centralized in the huge datacenters of a few giant companies. That being said, centralization is a function of scale and seems to happen in all industries.

Link to video, please? Or I can search for it.

Yup. Details are still forthcoming. Remember the recent AWS outtage? As we move to agentic AI assuming more automatec roles, I wonder how infrastructure integrity and durability will stand up to the change.

BTW here's the Cloudlfare CTO's report (full post at X):

Earlier today we failed our customers and the broader Internet when a problem in Cloudflare network impacted large amounts of traffic that rely on us. The sites, businesses, and organizations that rely on Cloudflare depend on us being available and I apologize for the impact that we caused.

Transparency about what happened matters, and we plan to share a breakdown with more details in a few hours. In short, a latent bug in a service underpinning our bot mitigation capability started to crash after a routine configuration change we made. That cascaded into a broad degradation to our network and other services. This was not an attack.

That issue, impact it caused, and time to resolution is unacceptable. Work is already underway to make sure it does not happen again, but I know it caused real pain today. The trust our customers place in us is what we value the most and we are going to do what it takes to earn that back.

     Cheers!

Sorry, was unable to track it down.  I'm not sure if "cloud" was part of the title as searching my browser history on that word didn't give any results.

While searching I did come across another channel though which is talking a lot about the topic:  https://www.youtube.com/@CloudComputingInsider

When I first downloaded Marvelous Designer, it was the non-commercial version of CLO-Set. CLO-Set is a high-level design capabilities for commercial production of real clothing as I understand it and is priced for it. A few years ago, the overall company had me update my account and now I get notifications for both levels. Marvelous Designer does have a store where users can sell their designs but I have not done so, nor bought from there. I maybe totally off, but this is the best I have been able to figure out. The clothing in the store may be designed for Marvelous Designer's avatars so might need work.

@memcneil70 thanks for all that. I found their connect site which is a store and has at least one g8 outfit, no shoes. Prices kind of all over and what you said about ease of use seems to apply.

This is the first time I've seen it say the problem was Cloudflare and not DAZ.
