I am posting a link to Nathy's Commercial Thread just in case anyone has not seen it, as there is a deadline of the end of the month for these items.

It's a weekend wishlist sale!! 48 hours of storewide savings!! Get an extra 50% off up to 5 wishlist items!!

...but you have to buy a new release

    ...and D+ items don't count

    ...neither do new releases

...also, you'll be paying at least $4, even if the 50% off should give you a better deal than that

Coolcool. There was some stuff over at 3D Shards I had my eye on anyway.

Just copy-pasting this from the sales issues thread, FYI:

Fortunately, it doesn't work quite like this. Items that were already below the threshold before did discount further with the WL promo and did NOT shoot up to 3.99. That's good! Should maybe be advertised better.

Edit: You can also reduce the price further if you add membership coupons and/or tokens. Still, the buy-in is just too much for me to make it worthwhile, with only 5 items allowed. But if there's something you really want in the new stuff today -?

Yeah, the buy-in alone was enough to count me out, the rest was just insult to injury (as it were). But the rest is good news for anyone wanting to take advantage.

... and I feel like "Should maybe be advertised better" is kind of the sale motto around here. =P

yes..it got in there couple of hours later. I grabbed it. My Premier expired today.

I'm glad you're happy with it. I wouldn't have done it. Looks like a stingy bundle compared to earlier bundles - bundles getting stingier all the time! Ooh! A figure and 2 items. And no, I don't count the HD add-on as any kind of extra item. Not impressed at all. With extra-thin bundles like that, Daz makes the case to not buy premier.  Why not just have the figure and the HD add-on and call that a character bundle? At the rate they're going, it'll happen! On the bright side, the steampunk outfit has something to it, a lot more than just lingerie. But still... Those packs are supposed to be one of Premier's big benefits.

at zero dollars it was worth it, just for the figure, the hair and outfit a bonus. I agree though on the bundle size. I feel the same on having to purchase the HD as an extra product.

Those minimum prices are definitely increasing sales... on other sites for me :D

Very underwhelmed by this weekend wishlist sale.  I'm pretty burnt out on the concept of having to buy the tie-in item for a decent discount for the Wishlist items.  If they even qualify.  It must be popular because they do this all the time (I don't like it one bit).

Overall my spending has been reduced a lot these last couple months.  I still like getting the character bundles, but outside of that, I'll use Monday and Tuesday just to get tokens to prepare for the bundles.  But hey, saving money is a wise things these days, so it's not all bad.

It'd be less offputting if there was something in the offerings I would use, but the focus is mostly genres I'm not interested in, a few characters that look pretty much like all the other characters, and maybe one thing I'll WL because maybe someday I'll decide I need it even if I don't have a us for it now.

ETA: speaking of each day's new releases in general; I can't even remember what specifically came out today.

The thing of it is, Daz deals are still much better value than other sites.

So there's a full character on another site. I like it, g8 character - $15, never on sale. There's a body shape I like - $7. Either I like it enough to buy it or I end up buying a $3-$5 bundle with several items here. That's the option, and I haven't bought the items from the other site.

Let's do the math a little more. I can spend $9 to get my month of Daz+, buy two $5 outlet bundles and $3 of other outlet stuff for $22 or I can get those 2 items from the other site. It's commodification. It's not fair but it's reality.

I think I made up the term commodification. I mean I'm treating the 3D assets as commodities not as works of art. They're fodder for my art, entertainment items.

Also the month of Daz+ includes 2 sets of coupons and a month of freebies. Taken as a whole, Daz wins.

But that gap is getting narrower with each year.

Daz is definitely still a king for getting value in bulk, but if you're aftrer some good quality clothes, for example at Renderosity you can often find 50% off items at $5 to $6. Now we are at cap of $4, but that cap may go to $5 in a year or few months.

Edit* Oh and the above is without the their Prime which can lower those prices even more.

Yeah-if at least one of the buy-ins interested me, it wouldn't be a problem.  But lately I'm just not impressed with the new releases, or enough to justfy to spending that much.

...OK 10 of the new releases are G9, 2 are "fetishwear" and about  the only one of moderate interest is Brazil; Alley  Not a lot to whet the appetite for the 50% wishlist discount (a number of items on the list are now Outlet buys at 3.99 which get no extra discount).

    Looks like more money saved.

Maybe I'll get a 1 month membership during the October Daz+  and  the Holidays sale.

  • If - IF - I buy anything on my WL besides the (Quick Grab) Pegasus bundle this weekend, it will be a couple of older items that are at a nice discount solo. Today's Expansive releases aren't interesting to me & I'll be surprised if tomorrow' "themed" releases are.

Dont get me wrong, when the Daz stars align, it's fantastic, but those times are few and far between now. I'm personally finding the coupons difficult to spend and the character bundles incredibly underwhelming since Premier became a thing. I can well understand why the annual memberships returned if others are, like me, taking up a month when a good sale arrives. I think I'm on a month in three. They probably wanted to lock folk in for longer. That seemed to go down relatively well on the forums, but not for me and I read a decent proportion of others. I'm skeptical about how well it would go down with those who don't engage with the forums at all, but that's just my own experience speaking. Who knows!

The new outlet changes aren't good for me either. Mostly DO's that are now higher in price than what I was waiting to pay. That further diminishes the usefulness of vouchers. Too many codes on sales exclude the use of vouchers too.

Without a membership or tokens, Daz is extortionate as far as I'm concerned. Other sites don't have buy-ins, have lower base prices (granted, some sites that allow artists cart blanche in price setting do have the odd artist who's prices are absolutely wild) and have better diversity in products (imo, and also with the caveat that quality variance can be wide elsewhere, although Daz doesn't feel streets ahead on that recently).

I think the quality variance had diminished, in part, because Daz has absorbed a lot of those other artists. Some, like Fabiana, are truly cream of the crop and a very welcome addition to the Daz store, but some others are cringe worthy for me. The thing that has cut my spending the most is the overwhelming emphasis on lingerie, nudity, fetish, and bondage. I don't want any of that, so there isn't as much I want to buy any more.

...indeed, life in the "Basic" lane is budget busting for some of us. particularly as so many sale offers now require a buy in of one or more new releases. Granted part of this is my doing as I never much bothered boarding the G9 bus save for a few "unique" characters (that only require the free and most basic "essentials").

I agree about the influx of so many new artists from other stores.  There are some really nice ones and then others that leave me saying "meh".  At times I wonder if I am even still on Daz or one of those "racy" (for lack  of a better term) 3D sites given the increase in what I referred to above as "fetishwear" and "anatomical " content..

Yeah sitting back for a while, but still putting things on the wishlist now and then (like Stonemason's latest) for when I do decide to "sign up" for a month or two during one of the "signature" sales...I would be a bit more interested in Premier if bundles other than character based ones (like props, vehicles, utilities, or environments) were also offered.

But Daz doesn't have the adorable ceramic critters I fell in love with on 3D Shards! Or the chocolate fountain!

It's all a matter of how much Asset X is worth to a person, and most of what's on my wishlist right now is neat, but stuff I'd be fine without. There's a bunch of stuff I could get from the Outlet, but I learned my lesson last time and I'm spacing things out this round.

It looks like a great sale today, especially with the extra 50% for 'Bash' items that are your wishlist. I would love to participate but I have to save up to repair/replace my main computer that was severely damaged by a lightning strike.

@CharlieJudge, have you checked with your insurance company yet? I found out a year too late that my destroyed external 16Tb harddrive might have been covered by my renter's insurance from wiring damaged by extreme freezing and ice getting through my non-existent window seals and a temperature drop into the negatives one January.

Yes. They claim that electronics are excluded from my homeowners policy.

Typically they are covered, so is lightning damage in the North America. I would write the company, ask for the claim to be processed by an adjuster and request any denial in writing.

Edit I have a degree in insurance and if you need proof, go here and scroll down you will see the certificate. I am very surprised to hear you got that response . . . so I am assuming a gatekeeper told you that and not an adjuster.

  • Recent wishlist sales have not been helpful for me - almost all of them exclude new releases and aside from a few items that aged out of "New" in the last week or so and some new Outlet items I wishlisted to find them later, that's all that's on my wishlist.

So I'm on the sidelines for another wishlist sale.

No. The gatekeeper thought it would be covered. It was the adjuster who denied the claim.

The buy-ins are getting too heavy overall, imo, and the selection is often too small. The prices are also calculated too much to include tokens. Like others said, if you spend a lot you get discounts a lot, which does seem fair, but there's other stuff I'd also like to get - like a massive amount of wood craft items this weekend that I didn't quite know I needed before I saw all those amazing filigree flower swirls that exist in this realm of crafting. And many will fit my real life dolls houses, so off I went on a swirlie buying spree, and now there's only 4.50 left for DAZ. I thought I'd get the Zeddicus van with them, but honestly - I don't really need it, and it's not very pretty. So I dropped it. And now I'm off to play the Sims 3 laugh

It's probably not very helpful to point out at this stage, as all of yesterday's new releases have disappeared off the promotion page and are presumably no longer valid for the wishlist offer...

... but I'm assuming Iron Lace Lingerie is one of the things you categorised as "fetishwear".

I personally figure that if you toss away the leather straps and edit the materials to make it less see-through, there's actually a decent basic underwear set in there - something which is actually fairly rare on the store; most underwear assets are lacy bedroom wear, and the rare few "normal" underwear sets are often under-detailed, with no stitching or the like to give it shape and texture.

I might tone down the translucency setting I used a touch more next time (I feel a little translucency makes clothes more realistic), but I'd say that's a serviceable set of everyday undies; something you can throw on a character without it looking like they're wearing it for someone.

I agree with what you're saying - Sometimes you have to buy the stuff where the stuff is. But if an item is too high-priced, it's not so easy to spend the money. I don't know what lesson you learned last time. I got a lot of treasure. It was a fun party. This could be fun for a while, too. We shall see!
