@Richard Haseltine: I learned this term on this forum, but I didn't know it meant "pron", which of course is against TOS. Now I understand the problem of using this term, sorry. Where I live, watching pin ups during work, wouldn't be deemed all too favorble for your career, so that is where my misunderstanding came from, lol.
It's a variable term, I wouldn't assume it meant outright porn but it would generally include things we don't allow (our restrictions are a lot stricter than just not porn).
@SapphireBlue, thank you for remembering that render! That is so sweet of you. I've actually kinda sifted through my G2 library already, because I do think too that this thread is such a great idea. Maybe the other older figures should have them as well? Because you're all too right, we forget the old things so quickly, even if they worked just fine.
Will try to participate further, for sure, and am looking forward to all the cool artwork of you and the others here.
Just contributing this one ... I don't believe I have ever done a render with G2. This is Gia 6 with G2-era hair, clothes, pose and prop, and an older prison environment. (Most of the surfaces have been updated.)

I am a bit distracted atm, because there is a (to me) real good daz+ sale going on for all kinds of older and newer assets. Hopefully I have done my decisions soon. Until then thanks everybody for creating such great contributions for this thread, this is such a nice time travel to me and hopefully to some of you, too!

I haven't used G2 in many years, and as I remember it G3 was almost here when I started.
But I found some characters and clothing and made a render.

Thanks! I really enjoyed working with Ysabeau 6, but I always added a few extra morphs, and used Anagenesis II to improve her skin. IIRC I most certainly added some Girl 6 to her, and from the looks of it probably a little V6, and no doubt dialed in a few more specific morphs.
Here is another image I did with Ysabeau 6. The outfit is once again XBA01 from AlfuSeeD, probably the same morphs as before, and I used Anagenesis II for her skin.
This second image I used Alani for Callie 6 (https://www.daz3d.com/alani-for-callie-6), Sexy Librarian for Genesis 2 Female(s) (https://www.daz3d.com/sexy-librarian-for-genesis-2-female-s), and Librarian Pinup Updo (https://www.daz3d.com/librarian-pinup-updo). Note that the the shin shaders fo Alani aren't nearly as dark. Applying Anagenesis II makes her a lot darker, and the setting the translucency to 75%-80% will make her similar to what you see in the image below. IIRC she also has some Girl 6 and V6 with a few other morphs mixed in.
@DustRider: Many thanks for that hint to dialing in some morphs - Ysabeau looks really awesome in your renders. I also like Anagenesis II, the results are almost always impressive, although I mostly use g8f skins or https://www.daz3d.com/iray-smart-converter-and-advanced-skin-managers-for-genesis-2. So a lot can be learned here (and in your gallery) about the art of Pin - up - thanks again!
mding Thanks for mentioning the Iray Smart Converter! I obviously didn't remember it or that I already had it... Now I can put it to use for renders for this thread, and also try out Anagenesis II, which it would seem I also have...

Most surfaces have been updated. (I'm using the original Michael 6 textures with 1-Click PBRSkin, which became my go-to tool during the last days of creating characters in G8, before transitioning over to G9.)
@SapphireBlue: How she blends into her environment and at the same time seems to long for the world outside the place she is bound to ... wow, I wish I could do such " quick-ish" renders
@paulawp (marahzen): The hair looks very realistic (for g2), as does the character! Nice idea with the doctors' coat -many thanks for that well done portrait!

So, I'm looking at this intriguing thread, and it has me investigating all these Genesis 2 assets filling up my drive without being used (thanks, mding). And I was wondering how to get the skins looking better in Iray. And along comes DustRider to remind me about Anagenesis II, which got spectaculary specular results back before I became enamoured with photorealism (of which ai has now disabused me). I scroll further and see Michael 6 looking like he belongs here, due to 1-click PBR Skin and paulawp, which I purchased upon release and forgot about. Thanks, you guys, for adding some excitement!

I've been playing a bit more with Nadia having got the Lorelei Mermaid tail and spent a little time creating normal maps and an Uber Iray setting for it. The background, as before, is Namtar3D's Underwater HDRI, the old boat was (I think) a freebie but is lost from my memory, and the fish are from Shredder's freebie Coral Reef on Rendo. I was surprised and pleased to discover that the leg poses in my underwater poses didn't alter the tail in any way I could see.
