    When is a sci-fi hallway not a sci-fi hallway?

Or last week's Garage Vignette. I am sick, sick, sick of solid black rooms with a few garish light strips. How on earth can the Daz+ team think this is an ongoing good idea?

I'm not even bothering to get them anymore

i get the majority of free items just to get them out of the store so I dont see them anymore. I feel pretty much the same way about most of the DAZ+ offerings for quite awhile. Lower cost, I understand, but it gets reptitious. YMMV of course. Like I don't like all the shaders, or sci-fi animals, or the corridors, etc etc, but someone else does.  I just like a great sale though laugh Like today with the 5 items for 75% off if you buy a new release. Add in your tokens or maybe a coupon if you a Premier member, and its a good day. 89% off actually in my case of 5 items. So I have lopi bundle down to $5.88.@ 89% off. List price is $55.99.

I have always felt as though they pick the quirkiest, least useful things they could think of to model as freebies, I did however always love the Martin Frost plants.

Not DAZ+ currently and will probably not be for a few months

(I do find the optional single month subscription model a good idea)

you never will see a hair, an outfit or a character as a monthly freebie

(do get some older ones as regular freebies for everyone though)

That might be something to ask Jack in the D+/Premier forum.

We griped there before, but it hasn't had any impact. They just keep coming and coming.

This post was back in January, and here we are in May and almost every week, we get one of these black rooms as our freebie. When it is ever something (anything) else, it is cause for celebration.

And a month later, this post. But those black rooms just keep coming...

It would be so, so nice if there was a better balance of genres, or even better, things that are more universally usable.

Or, heck, offer a weekly coupon for a D+ or something, at least that would be something that people could tailor to their needs instead of the subscription (I refuse to call it "free" since it's only $0 if you pay them) content being useless.

They can't offer as freebies what isn't offered up as a potential freebie by a PA.

But they could say, "we don't want any more of half-a-ed spaces with all black textures." Daz taking those freebies is a clear sign to the PAs that this is acceptable. It's also a clear sign that they don't care about their customer base to get a quality (even if simple) product as part of their subscription. This devalues the subscription even more.

Nobody expects full blown environments or figures with 25456 different materials, but what we're regularly getting feels like a beginner practicing Blender. And the black ones are the worst, because even the textures look like the minimum effort (we do get some corridors that at least have some textures/something to tell them apart).

In general I feel that while the cost of membership is going up the quality of the weekly/monthly freebies is going down.

I have a ton of the sitting in DIM that are basically in the way. Do you know if they can be hidden or something? Especially texture for items i dont have, nor ever will. I always thought I could use them for something, but it never happens.

They usually have a very small footprint, so I have installed all of them, even if I have yet to find a use for all of them.

Yes, which means the PA needs to have offered them  - which is what I said a few nestings in, the Daz freebies need to be made by a PA and sold to Daz.

I thought it went the other way around, with Daz commissionning PAs to create freebies for them.

Either way, Daz has greatly increased the cost of membership. Have they increased what they pay PAs for the freebies? It would appear that they don't pay much, judging by what we get these days - a black box with no morphs, no material options, no render settings, no lights other than emissive surfaces that won't illuminate anything in the scene.

Okay, fair, but maybe Daz could... y'know... arrange for that? If they're advertising this weekly content as an incentive to become a member, it looks pretty cheap if what you actually get is... well, what we've been getting.

I'm only a member of the "free tier" since the end of January. Seeing what are in my opinion rather low value membership freebies each week/month only reinforces my decision to not pay for the increased membership prices. It has also affected my purchases here, having only made two purchases since January (opps ....it was actually 3, I also paid a few extra cents to use the $6.00 coupon code when DAZ did the free 15 day DAZ+ memberships). I may still pick up a month or two of membership during the year, but IMHO the value typically just isn't there anymore for old timers and small spenders.

I'm DAZ+ and I absolutely agree with the opinions expressed here concerning the uninspired freebies we keep on getting since quite some time now. I'm not saying they're badly made, but they're basically just one damn, very simple room in different iterations, like barbult said, and I'm so sick of them and of the absolute lack of impact complaints in this regard seem to have that I'm basically just sitting here waiting for my membership to run out to be rid of this whole subject. Maybe this is the intent, I don't know. I know people did complain about the plants we used to get too, but I for sure wasn't one of them, and whatever else you can say, plants are useful in so many different ways and different settings, and bare scifi rooms just. Are. Not.

I actually wrote a lot more, suggestions and such, but I deleted it all, it's just no use. It's really sad, because I used to look forward SO much to the freebies, but it is what it is, and I'm just over it.

This free hallway isn't too bad.  When you release your inner, creativity insanity and add things like a T Rex conga line, it kinda works.

And the giant bannered 4 hour 70 percent off sale... doesn't seem to be working.    It will discount with new releases that were released today, but not with anything else.

IMHO the biweekly (actual) freebies are better, which is sad to say since it's all pretty ancient stuff.

And yeah, a lot of it is old characters I doubt I'll use, or texture add ons to outfits I'll never buy. But usually there's at least one hair I could maybe use for a background caracter, or a pose set, or an outfit, or a cople props, or a simple scene from which I could harvest a couple props... at least the potential to be useful. And there's a variety of stuff, so more chance for a greater number of people to find things they like.

Same, and sometimes I even find really nice things in there. They used to be pretty bad for quite a while, but they've picked up a bit again and now often include some G3 stuff for instance. And the props are usually useful anyways, lile you said - throw on some new textures, and often you're good to go. Older stuff is often not as resource-heavy as well, which is great for rendering on a wheezing laptop.

Yeah, I'll often pick up the actual non member freebies, if they're G3 character wise, or a location, they will have some benefit.

The Daz+ freebies I collect just because I can, I think only maybe once or twice have I used one in the last 6-12 months or so

There have indeed been a few times I've gone "oh cool" and promptly used something that was in the offerings. The poses, especially; Bone Minion plus the ability to freeze sections of the character so you can just harvest an arm or a hand or something means they'll almost always get used... eventually. I even had one of the G2 poses in one of those sets turn out to be exactly what I needed for a scene, and all the newer stuff I had didn't even come close.

Another idea for solving the uninspiring D+ issue could be... offer the choice of the D+  weekly/monthly OR a coupon for the equivalent worth of a DO. Then people who truly do like whatever's on offer that week can still nab it, and those who don't, won't feel frustrated that the feel like part of their subscription fee was wasted. And the DO's are something that Daz has the ability to give away free, so that circumvents the issue of needing PA permission.

I'm a bit underwhelmed with the freebies but I still find a way to use them. That neon hot tub is one of my things now
