For me it takes about 10 seconds to know that it's not worth even checking the $1 selection, a quick glance at the fact i'd need to pay at least $13 or so for something I don't need or particularly want will cancel out any benefits from the saving of something in the $1 selection
Yeah... If they want us to buy new stuff, they should offer more interesting things... Yesterday was better...
There are some massive savings on some pretty recent and desirable items in that list. I don't have tokens but am still considering the buy-in to be worth it.
Scroll down and there's a coupon code to use for the 1 selection stuff if you want to purchase something from yesterday.
Yeah... But I was talking about the "new item." Like, there's this 'Buy any 3 “Mayday” New Releases to get...' But I think I'd only get the FG house for this price... In fact, buying three new items that probably don't go lower than 50% even with everything added is too much for me, and voids any other promo benefit, but, at least yesterday there were three items that would make me tempted (though I'd probably quit after putting them on the cart and seeing the total value...).
i have 5 tokens, so that would get me in the ballpark, even on the new stuff. There are 4 items in my wishlist in the $1 listing. I had 3 in the cart and with the 1 new item came to $70 without the $1 coupon. then under 20 without the tokens.
But...but...I don't like the Still New items any better than I like today's new releases. Now, if I was in some weird alternate timeline where any item tagged New triggered the deal...maybe I'd buy.
In my initial cart Jenga test, I put in three new items + 8 tokens + 10 Mayday items, for $36. Mildly interesting if there's at least a couple of new things that are interesting to you. There's a reasonably large number of Mayday items to pick from, released from as recently as a few weeks ago, so definitely not just the same old picked-over-umpteen-times sale fodder.
The mesh for base V4 is lighter than the mesh for G8 with high SubD - And some G8 charcters require high SubD to look right - Level 4 or 5. We're not necessarily talking about human characters, though. V4 doesn't often have a lot of HD texture or displacement applied. People likely use V4 at base resolution. There are some specific morphs that require more geometry to look good. When SubD is used with V4, one doesn't usually need more than Level 2. I've seen that Level 3 works ok - Then, it's a pretty heavy mesh. And V4 textures are generally smaller/lighter than G8 textures, but not always. It depends on the individual character and the number of maps in use. Generally, V4 characters are a svelte 30-50mb download compared to routine 80-300(!)mb for G3 & later.
The LOD configs actually load a lower-poly mesh from a separate file. That gets swapped in when selected. When you select the LOD for figure, you have to pick a conversion type. Pick Poser!
Lorenzo and Loretta are intended for crowds and distance shots. I haven't fiddled with them much, though I also have them. I like the low-res skeletons.
i think its stuff that perhaps didn't sell all that well. I had a difficult time finding 6. 3 were easy as they were in my WL. The discounting is a bit better though with a couple of new releases. I'm going to knock off down to just the one new and 3, %1 products and see where I end up. Easier on the wallet.
EDIT: decided having to buy a buyin just isn't worth it, even if I get 3 items for a buck each. I think at some point I can get the same stuff for under $4 each sooner or later. There just hasn't been anything new that's been interesting to me for awhile. Maybe, after all this time, my senses have finally taken over my credit card.
...when most of the new releases save for one or two items, are G9 related, it doesn't leave a lot to choose from. FG's House is nice but that is about the only item that is interesting.
Thank you for this. I'd WL'ed a few of the items, but the day was busy so I really hadn't mathed it out or taken the time to actually look at the $1 selection until I saw your post. I didn't have 8 tokens, but what I did have from my 4/30 shopping trip made it worthwhile. I now have some new toys to play with. :) Much appreciated.
I'm attempting a "No-Buy Year"- buying nothing except food and necessities. Trying to break a shopping habit. This includes DAZ items, especially as disk space is an issue and I don't want to melt my laptop, which is my only working computer. The wishlist sales are always tempting, but so far I've been sticking to my resolve. This doesn't really have much to do with the sales discussions except to explain why I haven't been participating in sales.
Completely off-topic and unrelated, but does anyone know why the Kala 9 Pro bundle is inactive? Thanks.
Congratulations! The Kala 9 Pro Bundle is likely being replaced with the Kala 9 Character Bundle for Premier consumption. This happened with other Genesis 9 Core Figure large bundles.
Thanks! And that is good to know. Although I wish I had bought the Kala 9 Pro Bundle when it was in my Lightning Deals for under $10 many months ago. Thank you again for the info.
once again, the new releases do not trigger my interest enough to get 20% off a WL item. You know, it just seems its the same stuff over and voer, nothing really creative or overall new. I know the PAs work their butts to create these products, so I'm sorry for feeling this way, but I assume they are created more for new customers that don;t have 10,000 or more items in their catalog.
yep, the problem is the new releases are all things done before I have much of already
such as a science classroom, hairs, beachwear, lingerie etc
only the quetzalcoatlus is unique but I am not really into dinosaurs
....yeah just can't get excited about these sales anymore when it's only 20% off if you buy a 13 - 18$ item.
Beginning to wonder if the upcoming the Daz+ spring/summer sale will be worth it if its the same format..
I'll venture that it will be worth it if you have a Premium membership and spend a lot, less worth it for lower tiers and less spending.
It's possible to get to high 80%'s or low 90%'s discount with the mayday-mayday-your-day promotion + premier + 8 tokens. Or somewhere around $2.75 - $3.00 average per product (including the buy-ins.) With some of the items being newer, it competes well with the march madness price. You might also be able to add a few other things to the cart and use the monthly PA coupon; and if you wishlisted the buy-ins, today's wishlist-weekend promotion could give +20% off the buy-ins if you do a combo cart.
I went ahead and grabbed some wishlisted things from the $1 bin even though I still haven't allocated more Daz budget after leaning too hard into March Madness. :P
...yeah it is definitely more for the high rollers rather than "thrifty" folks like myself. Crikey, a 25 USD cart is a "big ticket purchase" for me.
Now if say environment, vehicle, prop and/or "utility" (like morphs shaping, etc) bundles were included with the free bundle coupon, that could make it a bit more in appealing.
It's a laudable goal. I should probably do the same.
Tried and failed I'm a DazAholic
...I realised I had way too much Daz stuff when I would discover I already had something that I was thinking about buying.
I'm thinking 2027 will be mine.
Still have D+ through 10/2026, and while I could go ages on what I've got... I'm still in the stage of discovering gaps as I get a bit more ambitious with what I'm trying to do. At this point I'm just holding out for really good sales, though. So it's kind of a middle ground from where I was a year and a half ago, where sometimes a "good enough" sale had to be good enough because otherwise I was completely dead in the water.
Yeah, with today's sale, same as yesterday: nice offer, but just nothing for me in the buy-ins that I'd like at the 'new' price. I think this policy of buy-ins being exclusively from the new stuff of one day has really taken over too much of the sales by now. Imo, it would make much more sense to ask for any new release as buy-in. But well, it's not my store
Yeah, agreed. While I get they're trying to generate excitement over the day's releases, so often they're themed in a genre I don't vibe with, or it's an outfit and texture set(s) that doesn't work for my people (so there go two or more options), or it's a character I don't want plus multiple variations of that character, PLUS a bundle for all of them together... so easy for there to just be nothing I'd even vaguely want. But that thing from a few days ago, maybe I would've considered it, except the offer for that day's batch of releases wasn't appealing, so... guess I get nothing at all and wait for a different sale.
Wow, much underwhelm in the LDs...one G3M pose set, a V4 and an M3 outfit and toys for the Mil Pup.
My guess: they may have been bitten where it hurt with unforseen stacking discounts and allowing offer to work with any brand new item would pretty much open the door to such discounts.
Overall, while they are losing sales from people who are not finding anything enticing among the brand new items to purchase something, not having discounts stacking through the roofs may be an advantage worse pursuing even from an overall revenue point of view, to say nothing of keeping PAs happy, which are the other people Daz has to keep happy.
It also make for easier to understand sales for consumers (and for the people creating them), because, sure, it's can be fun when you did found than by adding this item and this item to a cart, everything else in that cart is dirt cheap, but if you missed the trick and you read a message on the forum explaining that 'Hey, did you see that by buying this and that, you got a 96+ % discount on these items ?', it could sour the enjoyement of getting a shiny new product to play with.
