Looks like a great product, I'll snap it up if or when the next major version of DAZ Studio 5 allows Mac users to use Filament.

Thanks! Now that I have your toolset to make consistent looks in scenes, I think I'm going to try to make a comic with her as the main character.

Oh I love comics! If you end up making a comic, I hope you share the link so we can check it out. And please feel free to post on one of my favorite threads, the "3D Comic Book Tips and Pictures" thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/228061/3d-comic-book-tips-and-pictures#latest

That's a bummer that Mac users still can't use Filament, but I do know that they are working on that. Hopefully it won't be much longer.

     I have used https://www.daz3d.com/mesa-desert
and applied Mesa Desert HDR Afternoon Render Settings Preset from the package.
After that I have used https://www.daz3d.com/easy-filatoon
with its tools for the environments and the magic happened.
I am still trying to get a shadows on that scene,
but now I know, how versatile is Easy FilaToon.

Easy FilaToon is amazing and I like very much, how it deals with the environments.

I am still trying to get a shadows on that scene,

To get shadows, select the Distant Light in the Scene Tab and use the "Light Cast Shadows ON" preset in the Scene Settings folder.

Or, alternatively, you can open up the "Lights" Tab and under "Shadow Type" select "Deep "Shadow Map" or "Raytraced" (it doesn't seem to make a difference which, just as long as it's NOT set to "None").

Then to make sure the surfaces can a Recieve Shadows you can use the "Easy FilaToon - Shader - Base Ground" Shader Preset on the environment's surfaces (that shader preset is found in the Enviroments folder and the icon looks like the adorable character Cookie and she's casting a shadow on the environment).

Or if you don't want to use that shader preset, select the environment in the Scene Tab, and select it's surfaces in the Surfaces Tab, Enable "Recieve Shadows" to "On" on it's surfaces, and change the "Shadow Threshold" to something around 14 (you can play around with this setting to suit your taste).

I hope that helps. If you have any other issues or questions let me know and I'd be happy to help if I can. :D

HAHAH That's so cute! I see you got the shadows figured out too! Yay! :D

This turned out great - what a cute character! She seems to be saying something like "Come with me on an adventure!"

Thanks for the explanation. I have also  watched your tutorials.

This Mesa environment is quite big and I could not find the proper settings yet,

so I continue my journey with the other items/environments.

I did a little touch-up and switched out the environment for Fabiana's Sage Babylon just because it looks so nice. I'm really enjoying the ease of converting sets and setting up a look.

Got round to trying out Easy FilaToon - and unsurprisingly, it's easy to use! smiley Love the wonderful, detailed video tutorials. And love all the presets and how quickly we can cycle through them to see what works. heartMany are useful as shortcuts in other renders too, like the surface selection and bloom functions.

I decided to try it on G8.1 - didn't take as long as I feared and I was happy with the results. I was even pleasantly surprised that animation with G8.1 was only a bit slower (a manageable 2-3 times slower than my previous project with G9, but that may just have been the larger environment?).

I was trying out the Arabian Palace Courtyard for a DAZ+ challenge, and decided to turn it into an animation after converting it to FilaToon. (I used a free animation from a set in the freebies forum, and made a little "ambient bellydance practice track" for this sequence.) I did do some color grading in post in the video software, but I often do.

I'm definitely going to put this to use in converting some of my older G8 projects and see what I can do! Fun and very useful. Thanks 3Diva! heart

Nice work with the video. I guess, it was rendered pretty fast.
