Thing about "counterparts" is that other than Aiko and the Girl, Vickie and all the ladies can share Micheal. At least thats how it looks on art sites.
The toon Gals need someone other than Micheal(Vickie is a common pairing for the toon gals lol).
And historically, there has always been a duration where the latest Vickie, has couplies pose sets that use the last generation male. Maybe not on Daz's store..but elsehwere. I'm even talking back in the V4/M3 days.
Never will be 1:1 counterparts. Never really has been a time either, though generations ago it was kinda close.
Yeah pretty much every realistic female can date M7 (or morphed M7) no matter the way she looks I guess.
But besides Michael, I would LOVE to see a skinny guy with a slender physique, a robust guy with some meat on the bones and the athletic super hero.
Of course this will never happen because of the market demand and Daz seems to be much more willing to experiment with female releases to see how a new type of figure will do than with male ones.
The biggest male experiment seemed to be the Cory figure which I hope not to see ever again : D
I only really liked Gianni and Darius (no idea what was it about Lee and Michael that I did not like but for some reason I was like "meh" when it came to these 2) and the young teens are not really my thing at all since they look very unrealistic with their dolly faces.
So I was wishful that the selection of G3M would be better but judging by the current situation, I will be very content with a well done Michael 7 : D
I have done 3 darker skinned black/caramel tone characters so far but none have made it out yet -.- One is shown in promos for our Belleza Dress and the other 2 are mia lol.
There is a difference between a PA making a product and bringing it to DAZ to see if DAZ will accept it and DAZ contracting to have figures modeled to their specifications which is how the DAZ base figures are done. The base characters such as Victoria, Bethany and Karen are morphed from the the base figure and also contracted. PAs support these with characters they then create based on the base or base characters, and submit them to DAZ.
Of the sets I have checked, mainly those included in the Pro bundles when people have asked in the forum, pretty well all have included genital textures.
My following post addressed this (though it was just quotes from others). But if you look at the history, you can see I very specifically said I seriously doubt V7 was something that randomly happened. Daz steered that. Fluff was then stated to pass the buck away from Daz regarding the lack of diversity. Then someone brought up elves...
So like I said quite some time ago, Daz isn't steering anyone to bring people of color to the product line this early. And we no longer get ethnicity morphs that we had for Generation 4 and 5.
Very one sided view of the world some people must have. it's not even an accurate representation of the US.
However, you are confusing the issue on figures and characters contracted by DAZ and products submitted by PAs which are morphs of the base figure or DAZ characters morphed from the base figure when you say things such as "Just remember, just because it has the label Daz Original, does not mean Daz made it. Just means they own it. Bought it off someone." That is the notion I was correcting as I have seen you say similar before and what you are saying is something I think you have misunderstood somewhere along the way.
I can tweak that wording a tad though. Did not mean it was absolute.
I don't think I've got the wrong idea. You can't tell from the Daz Original label if they contracted someone or simply bought it. It's the same label either way :)
Sure there are plenty of DO that also have PA names on them, but no one ever said that was an absolute rule either :)
Daz wants to make super heros, they could learn from Marvel.
Some how Marvel makes money doing it...
Just to be clear, Genesis 3 Female is the base and was contracted. There are base characters and so far they are Victoria 7, Eva7, Bethany7 and Karen 7, which were also contracted. Most others were products made by PAs and may have been purchased by DAZ, making them DOs, which is not the same as being contracted.
What we are still not clear on is if Karen was inspired by Marvel, DC or Disney.
Or would Marvel count as Disney now?Crossgen maybe?
I've thought for a long time that the base figure (Genesis, G2F/M, etc) should come with a set of several skins, ranging from light to dark, and several head/face morphs to cover several ethnicities. This wouldn't preclude doing ethnic iconic characters, but from the get-go, a user would have a better chance of being able to create the characters they want. Some sets of ethnic morphs and skins would also be welcome, even if not part of an entire character, especially since G3 can't use the older skins.
but I am losing interest.... not really sure why.... but no poser support even with dson, limited backwards compatibility, no guys yet,
It's only been what, 3 months since G3F was released? Took twice that long between G2F and G2M's release IIRC.
Riftwitch: With the core morphs, I've managed to capture several ethnic groups tolerably well with G2F and G2M. And you can 'push' skins in various directions.
But having a good Pale/Medium/Dark tone skin to start with would help a lot.
2 months, actually
I'm not sure that's really a "movement". There are 10 Belle 6 characters, and not a single one uses the Belle 6 UVs. Same with Brodie. I'll check the UV sets used by some of the other Genesis 2 characters later.
Where are the examples of the makeup that people keep asking for? Is there a natural makeup? And I second that the makeups should be shown, two out of six isn't a good representation.
Actually, the Gen 3 pro packs have been on a par with the Gen 2. Both are either 11 or 12 items: 3 charactets, 2 hairs, 4 outfits, and some combination of 3 or 4 pose, expression, or accessory sets.
The only 10 item pro packs were Monique 6 and Darius 6. On the other hand, pro packs have gone up in price, and I don't think the sales are as good as they used to be.
I have these as WIPs right now. The Japanese-looking one is Rumiko, the dark-skinned one is Ipsa, and the white one is Ninette. Ipsa and Ninette arent' shown with final textures. Of the entire collection of eleven women in this series, there are four Caucasian and six Asian, plus Ipsa, who is Indian. The men's group will be thirteen, and has two black, four white, and the rest are Asian. One of the women will have a second set of textures that will include heavy scarring on the torso, and another that can stand to lose a few kilos. I also varied the base heights coming out of the box, from Ipsa at a bit over two meters down to Takahiro, Joyce and Noriko in under 1.6m. Darren will be tall and super-thin, whereas two of the guys will be really bulky, albeit for different reasons.
The next series will be a mixed bag of thirteen men and women across the entire spectrum, including some that are intended to be much older than others.
Each member will come with an accessory that will be assembled to fit to the base figure, with morphsets to fit the character they come with. The glasses Rumiko was rendered with are hers, for example. With some tweaks, they should fit everyone from that base figure.
So that will be a fun thing. Clothing and hair, when produced, will be considered accessories for this purpose.
Love your work, Silver-- just wish I could afford more of it. I didn't want to speak for you, so I spoke to what I'm working on personally. Having issues with CTS at the moment, so it's going slowly.
Yeah definitely all make up options should be seen in the promos.
It says that Karen has 6 make up options but when you look at her promos you can only see the following:
- green eye shadow + red lipstick
- blue eyeshadow + silver lipstick
- purple eye shadow + purple lipstick
So where are the other 3 make up options?
Fair enough, I didn't buy Genesis 2 pro packs either. I basically left after Gia came out and didn't pay much attention. So it is possible they are on par with last gen. But I still am pretty sure V4 and V5 had much more robust bundles, and I was more active back then.
The boots are separate, the suit covers all the way to the ankles. There's long gloves (which will fit snug against the skin if you turn off the FitOverSuit morph so you can use it for other outfits). There's an option for No Sleeves and No Legs so its a leotard (with geografts to trim the edges so the openings fit snug against the skin). Socks can be hidden for boots only. Hope that helps :)
You're making me wish I wasn't dead broke Mada ;)
Does that mean there are more buyers now, who can buy two times a Pro pack in a month and DAZ needs satisfy this demand?First of all, there is a hilarious typo in the promo measurements (bust): 36" is not 71 cm but more like 91.5 cm. Could any DAZ employee please fix it ASAP? =)
Then, dear users, has anyone bought her? If yes, could anyone be so kind as to measure her shoulder width for me?
PS: The diversity of perceptions astounds me as well. 20 year old skin?? To me, Karen's skin texture in closeups looks more like mid-thirties at least (those lines in nasolabial folds... I'm thirty, and I'm not there yet). And while I agree that certain skintones are underrepresented on the character market, I am coming from the opposite point of view: not enough Fitzpatric type I kind of skin. Ah well, I guess it's unfashionable.
She is the top seller today. So I would say it's working.
That is assuming my interpretation of the What's Hot category is correct. There could be other variables used to determine how "what's hot" is populated. The more expensive the bundle, the better the seller. Unless they are using revenue as part of the equation, which is not uncommon.
Very much, thanks. Love the outfit and it was in my cart anyway.
Larsmidnatt- as an online business owner for ten years, and having purchased/explored many carts (thousands of dollars worth) I didn't encounter any in the latter years (as carts progressed) that you couldn't tweak and put whatever you wanted to in the "Best Sellers" or "What's Hot." You can have it generated, but you can also add to it as you see fit. Did not get Magento (too many issues, as we've seen repeatedly) but I'd be surprised if it can't be tweaked. Many sites use it as a selling tool, the "hop on the bandwagon this is popular type thing." Not saying Daz does it.
Just looking at what is showing for me today itr looks like "What's Hot" is primarily what sold best in the last 24 hours, the last week, the last month - and weighted toward the more recent of the three.
