    And it is back!

    Thank you Frank

    Try and delete the .ini file for the account in %appdata%/daz 3d/installmanager/useraccounts/account.ini or your profile .ini file, then try to reenter your login info and try again. DIM must be closed before this process.

    I was able to get in and download. But now, Apple forced me to update my MacBookPro to the latest version and while D|S is working and my files are there, DIM spun for over an hour, not connecting. The external hard drive seems to be okay, but I am taking it over to a Win 10 computer for a disk check.

    Just curious how Apple "forced" you to update your MacBook Pro to the latest version. As long as. you have the auto-update in the update settings, when you do your updates is completely up to you.

    I was working and it just pushed its way into my face and stopped me. I was stupid, closed what I was doing and let it go. Yeah I know. Dumb, really dumb. Paying for it now. But I have also been worried about not getting security updates.

    It's certainly not stupid to perform updates, especially secutiry updates, but if you get into the habit of doing manual updates, you can pick a time when it's convenient (e.g. beginning or end of the day) and install just those things you feel are necessary at the time an leave others for later.

    I am having a problem installing an update to the product "Everyday Moves aniBlocks and Poses DS". I got an update for this and the corresponding BVH product. I tried to install them. The BVH update installed correctly, but the DS update hung.  The DS update downloaded and got to 91% in the install phase and just hung there for around 10 minutes. I tried to use the X button to cancel the install and I got one of the windows blank screen queries if I want to let the DAZinstall helper make changes to my computer. I said yes, but the install manager stayed hung. Finally I killed it from the task manager.  This is what the install manager log file looks like:

    2023-01-23 09:54:21.735 [INFO] :: Installing: 19050-3 : Everyday Moves aniBlocks and Poses BVH

    I tried to update this again and it failed the same way although there are no log file entries from that. I then tried to uninstall the package and it then became a new product rather than an update.  When I tried to install the new product it did the same thing, hanging up at 91% installed.

    I then went on to updating other products which seemed to update correctly, but when I looked in the log file I see:

    I checked each one of these products and they were installed in DAZ Studio inspite of the warnings about InstallManagerFileRegister.json. After these errors, I updated many more products without any warnings in the log file. In the log file I have the BVH install was the first one to give warnings about InstallManagerFileRegister.json.

    So at this point I cannot get install manager to install "Everyday Moves aniBlocks and Poses DS".

    I am using Install Manager 1.4.0.94 on Windows 10.

    As a side issue, I do not understand where the path "C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library" for this file comes from.  At one time in the distant past, this was where the install libary was, but it is now at:

    2023-01-23 10:08:33.224 [INFO] :: Current Content Install Path:

    2023-01-23 10:08:33.225 [INFO] :: Location = L:/My DAZ 3D Library

    If I bring up the basic settings, there is no reference to the path "C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library".  This path must be saved in some config file somewhere.  When I moved My DAZ 3D Library to the external drive I replaced it with a shortcut to "L:/My DAZ 3D Library" so this path should still work, but I don't know why install manager is still using this path.

    Rewriting as I misread.

    When you install content Install Manager records what it has done in the manifest file for the product (.dsx file in, by default, the Manifests folder alongside the Downloads folder). It records the exact location of the file, including drive letter and path. A shortcut won't tell it to look elsewhere when it wants to remove the files to uninstall (or update), nor will it tell it that the existing files in the new location were placed there by itself and so should not be logged in the InstallManagerFileRegister.json file (usually pre-existing files are recorded there so that they are not removed if the product is uninstalled). You need to update the manifest files to reflect the new location, either by editing them or - if you kept the zips - by using the reinstall using current paths right-click command in the Installed tab in Install Manager.

    I edit the Manifest file for the "Everyday Moves aniBlocks and Poses DS" to correct the UserInstallPath to the current value and tried to reinstall the package again.  It again appeared to hang at 91% installed. I went off and did some other things and when I got back, the install had finished:

    2023-01-25 09:30:45.737 [INFO] :: Installing: 19050-1 : Everyday Moves aniBlocks and Poses DS
    2023-01-25 09:42:16.886 [INFO] :: Install Successful: Everyday Moves aniBlocks and Poses DS
    2023-01-25 09:42:16.932 [INFO] :: Install Queue Finished: 11 min 31.1 sec

    Notice that the install took 11 and half minutes. I have never seen an install for a product take that long. Apparently I just didn't wait long enough for this install to finish before killing it. There were no warnings about InstallManagerFileRegister.json this time.

    I noticed on Advanced Settings under the Installation tab there is a property "Content Updates".  It is currently set to "Install to each package's respective installed path".  The other choice is "Install to the currently selected path".  Would changing this option mean it would ignore the UserInstallPath in the old Manifest files and use the current install path so I don't have to edit all the old Manifest files? I probably have thousands of old Manifest files that need to be edited.

  • Yes, that will cause the new files to be written to the current content directory instead of the old one (if the manifest has not been updated) with the current setting.
