Hello everyone! Starting this week, we’re beginning the process of testing changes and enhancements to the Daz 3D website and user experience. Our first round of testing will streamline the checkout process with a new look and easier navigation so you can get back to creating your 3D art easier and faster. After that, we’ll begin testing improvements most of the website in further rounds over the next several months.

    Our main goals:

    • Improve customer experience with checkout and cart
    • Added clarity around products
    • Improved category system
    • Updates to search and website navigation
    • Revamped designs and user experience
    • And more to come!

A few major pieces of the website are currently being redesigned, including the forums and gallery search, however those won't be updated this year.

I like the new thumbnails when looking at your product library. It makes it fun and easy to browse whatever you've filtered by, or to quickly check out shiny new purchases - cheers!

    - Greg

I thought that's part of the DAZ Deals add-on? - but you're right, it is great; it should really be part of the site itself, not 3rd party functionality.

Oh is it? My bad! I've been running the add-on for a long time now but never noticed it before. Thanks for the info.

  • I've never understood what Most Popular in the search filters meant.  Trending I get, it's referring to what's hot right now.  Most Popular I originally took to mean Best Selling Historically, but clearly that is not even remotely the case.  Right now the Nutcracker Prince bundle is near the top of the Most Popular filter search.  There is no way that the Nutcracker Prince Bundle has sold more units historically than the Victoria 4 base.

A genuine filter tallying historical best sellers in the store or in any sub-category therein would be very useful, especially for someone new to the store, but perhaps it would be too difficult to implement in software.

For the fun of it, I tried to set my browser in full screen mode.

And in comparison, this is what you see if you reduce the width of the browser window as far as it goes...

That is the best I was able to get mine to look. Thanks for posting.

Gaslighting seems to be an international pastime.

    You ain't kidding.

Yes, agreed--I think the wishlist buttons and add-ons from the DAZ Deals add-on should be part of the main website.  I can never get it to work correctly from my main computer.. I have to go uninstall the add-on then reinstall it to get it to work.. so it is like it works only "per browser session".. the wierd thing is that it works fine on my laptop in the same browser with no issues..

    Search in the gallery --awesome!

One thing that I think would improve the shopping experience (if I can explain it) would be that ability to filter within a sale category. What I mean by that is that when a sale is promoted there is a link to a self-contained collection of sale items. Often these items only display the sale price after it is added to the cart. While the filters provided by the excellent add-on are still available, the category search filters from the main site (People/Clothing/Places/Structures/etc.) are not applicable to only that sale category - they remain a site-wide filter.

And with thumbnails? Yes! Daz should've farmed out the site upgrades to Ati and Overdrawn, 'cause they know what the people want.

  • Why can I not see gallery images on product pages anymore?  Did that go away?  I liked that, helped me to see how normal renders looked with the product before purchasing

That is a feature of the daz-deals plugin, you may need to update it.

The rampant miscategorization of store items makes it useless for auditioning assets. The people category is full of clothes, hair, and other non-people items.

They still can't link the sku to the corresponding product readme page...

You could probably consider Most Popular as 'trending over a longer period of time', like 3 months rather than a week or whatever. That would explain the Nutcracker Prince Bundle - considering it was released before xmas and thus seasonally relevant.

If you just had historically popular you'd never discover anything new - it would always be V4.

I don't know if this was mentioned, but clicking through pages of the store is annoying.  I look at page one, scrolling down, click on the 2 to get to page 2, and it automatically puts me at the bottom of page 2.  I have to scroll all the way back up so I can see all the items, then scroll down again if I want to get to page 3.  This didn't use to happen.  It used to be that clicking on page 2 would take me to the top of page 2.  I'd then look at everything and click on the 3 at the bottom, which would take me to the top of page 3, etc.  Two things ought to be fixed here.  1 - clicking on a page number should take a person to the TOP of that page.  2 - the page numbers should be at the top and bottom of each page so a person can navagate as needed.  (Occasionally I'll scroll to the bottom, decide I want to look at something farther up on the page, scroll back up to look at it, then scroll to the top of the page only to remember that there's no navagation there and have to go all the way back to the bottom.  This isn't earth-shatteringly horrific, but it's annoying and tends to discourage me from page through the back catalog these days.)  This is on Chrome, with and without any browser extensions.

100% agree.  My experience is the same using Firefox.

This has been a tough month for me in terms of web sites. My HMO, credit union, and DAZ have completely overhauled their sites. None of the three are improvements over the earlier sites (the credit union's new site is so bad, the CEO has appologized for the roll-out as well as the design) in terms of function or ease of use. I will say that I do like the redesign of the DAZ shopping cart; I think it has worthwhile changes.

I have to wonder if the designers of these sites ever actually use the sites they're replacing, and whether they allow users to try out a beta version of their new designs. My experience has been to find a site has been completely changed usually wtihout addressing issues while adding bling. The bottom line is many redesigns are not that much of an improvement over the previous version, and often less convenient to use.

It was just mentioned to me by Richard that you can use the "Home" key on your keyboard to get you to the top of the page. I tested it and it does work and zips you right to the top of the page.

Not new development in the field of web design... I cancelled my online banking account when they came up with 'new and improved' design that required lowering the safety settings in the browser to such a level that you couldn't use the browser for anything else - That was 10 years ago.

The 'new and improved' design was all about showing pretty pictures and advertisements, while you were trying to pay your bills and make sure you didn't make any typing errors with the 20+ number reference codes or account numbers...

I think the general consensus tho is that we should LAND on the TOP of the page to begin with. I know it's a workaround though, but it should be FIXED.

The Home key takes you to the top of your web browser window.  it does not take you to the top of product page listing.  so you still have to scroll down to see the product listings.  last week there was a white arrow at the bottom of the multi pages to take you to the top of the products litings, that has disapeared now.

Home key is better than nothing, but does not address the Daz3d.com website funcationality.

Odd, I thought that behaviour was a defect waiting to be fixed ... so are we to understand that landing at the bottom of a page is intentional??

[The Daz site] has done it as long as I can remember, you search for something that takes several pages to show all the results, and at the bottom of the pages if you click next page, you end up at the bottom of that page... Annoying...

It's better to hit the scroll wheel a couple time then it is to do it a dozen or more time. Nothing is perfect. So sorry for the inconvenience.

nice if your on a PC with a scroll wheel.  My MacBook has track pad, and single button mouse no scroll wheel. And my iPad doesn't use a mouse and I'm really tired of fingering my screen to get to the top of any page at Daz3d.com, including the forums.

previous two weeks has been white arrow to get to top of multi pages.  Thursday last week the page auto went to top of multi page listings, this only last Thursday and Friday the functionality was gone again, remain at bottom/use white arrow.  Now all that's gone on multiple web browsers and devices, no white arrow, no auto top of pages.

I have emptied carts on two flash sales, due to this functionality cause it's just too much trouble to try and shop the store due to this lack of functionality.

Richard, I did mean  DS as in DAZ Studio.

When searching for something that doesn't fit on one page, at the bottom of the page if you move on to the next page, you land at the bottom of that page - Now they have made the DAZ site work the same way.

    Twice as annoying.

  • wice as annoying.

Here, I wrote the store search user story for them. I should put this under the freebies section - there'll be a million downloads.

    +++

As a Content Shopper I want to search for a specific item in the store, but I only remember the product name. I enter the words "ice cream" into the search box to see a page of matching results sorted by decreasing relevance (if that's even possible). I scroll down to the bottom of the page and can't find the item I'm looking for. I click to see the next page and the page stays at the bottom and it doesn't load the images of the items I am looking at. I look for the little floating "up" arrow in the right margin but don't find it, so I start scrolling up and up and up with my mouse. My finger starts hurting, so I release my mouse and move my hand to my keyboard to press HOME. When I get to the top of the page, the item images start loading and diplaying. I start scrolling down again using the PGDN key on my keyboard but then item images are cut off halfway at the bottom of the browser, so I again move my hand to the UP/DN arrow keys to nudge the page slightly to see the full images. Then I PGDN again several times to the bottom and still don't find what I'm looking for. I wonder why the site is showing me sci-fi weapon packs and RawArt aliens. I open Google to search for "daz ice cream" and find the product I'm looking for as the top hit. I click the link to see a CloudFlare error. I press F5 several times and the site just hangs. I go to dinner and I forget what I wanted to buy or why.

    +++

    You're welcome <<mic drop>>

<Insert Whitney Houston pointing up and saying "This" image here>

  • Aw man, DAZ removed the only feature I liked about the new prodcut page :(. The side scroll that let you see all (medium size) images at once. The medium size image were detailed enough I had no need to click on each one. But now it's gone and I have to again click one by one to see a larger image.

    [moved from another thread]

...well they better get these bloody servers working better.  I'm sitting here with a perpetual swirly with the word "Loading" that's been going on for nearly ten minutes now after I clicked on the "Place Order" button.  There are only 23 minutes to go before Daz "zero hour" hits.  I haven't even been able to enter my card number yet and finalise the purchase.  To put it mildly, I will not be a very happy camper if this doesn't clear up before Daz Zero Hour (which is 23:00 where I live) and I lose the discount.

    ETA

All totalled it took about 18 min for the swirly to finally clear and let me make the purchase.  Definitely not on my end as I have a 400 mbps transfer rate.

BTW, is it just me or are the forums really, really slow all of a sudden?
