This is my first March Madness as I am new to Daz. I’m wondering if I have to buy a MAD release first and then I get $2.99 hair or do I buy them at the same time? Sorry for stupid question.

The sales can be confusing at times, so it never hurts to ask. In this case, you must get the MAD release at the same time. Which MAD release (Newly, Still, Related, etc.) depends on the specific $2.99 group you want to get into. The * refers to a note at the end:
* Items must be in cart simultaneously for discount to apply.
Cannot be used to purchase items already owned at a lower price.

Ultimately I winnowed my cart down to 26 sets of hair. I probably could've gotten a few more at least, but this should keep me busy for a while, and I was getting to a point where I was starting to have styles overlapping a lot even from a kitbashing viewpoint (I like having a few variations on a theme). Plus I need the majority of what I buy to work with long elf ears, excepting things I get with specific human characters in mind.
One of them was the FW Oliver megapack for G2M, which means that in addition to some useful shaved styles and new jewelry, Gianni now has a pair of underwear that wanders in the direction of being briefs. Yay! G2M had so few options.
By "wanders in the direction of being briefs," I mean it's a shiny gold banned-from-new-promos thong. (That's an observation, not a complaint.)
This by far is the most uninspired, downright boring March Madness I've every seen. It's like not only has the fatigue set-in with the customers, it's definately set -in with the venders. Stephenie Petite 3 items as bonus purchases !!!??? This is stuff they were trying to move before they were going to put it in permanent cold storage. I get it. It's March Madness. There's ALWAYS been a March Madness sale, but if your heart's really not in it, what's the point? Bundles that have Gen 8 characters that were re-leased approximately a year ago, are now the tentpole for "Must buy" bundles. Next Year, rather than starting the sale early, how about NOT over extending yourselves, nor trying to squeeze the very last dime out of a Sale, that really doesn't generate much interest, and do a shorter but more exciting sale? A flagship sale, is suppose to be that, not just the same old, same old, being pimped under a new banner.
So conveniently I discovered DAZ just as this sale started and have been buying things up every day. Question...how long does March Madness typically last? Can't seem to find this information anywhere, maybe I'm overlooking it.
Typically it lasts from 1st March to 31st March. Sometimes it runs over a bit.

Major sales always start on a Monday, and the last day is always a Sunday, so likely last date candidates would be April 4th, or maybe even April 11th
Sigh... just when I start recovering from the fall sales... It's MARCH MADNESS... and I get sucked in again. Can anybody explain the 28% off Gift Cards at the top? I looked for the "gotcha" (meaning what you have to do to get the discount) but all I'm seeing is 20% off a $200 gift card.
+1. I wake up with my wallet ready to buy every monring and then see a bunch of "meh" new releases. Hard surface shaders... Oh look, one of them is tinted all in pink and pastels and called "Ulimate Girly" /facepalm
Not to mention the "Did you buy the overpriced bundle from the other week that was made up of stuff you bought 2 years ago and had no use for? Oh you didn't, well there goes all your extra bonuses."
You also need 1 of today's newly mad items to get the full discount.
Is there any minimum?
Only 6 days in and I've spent more than what I was hoping would be the full month.Those $2.99 sales are killing me. Brilliant marketing. I would never have spent more than $2.99 for 90% of the products I purchased, I had passed on many for years, but for $2.99, I look at them and say, "OK, I could do something with this," create an image in my head of some brilliant artwork that I will create with it someday but soon forget about, adding more assets to my exploding external hard drives, fully knowing that I will never have time to render all of it in my entire lifetime.
If I go for a gift card I will have to pick up some new release, and the shaders are the cheapest, as in truth I don't want or need any of the new releases.
Anyone know what exactly are the shaders doing, something procedural maybe? The products are very light on info and screenshots. No texture files are provided, and yet the screenshots imply you can get a speckled pattern on the hard surface. I guess it would at least be VRAM friendly if you can get nice looking tiles without texture maps.
They are shader presets, it looks as if they are nothing but surface settings nothing you can't do yourself. Without seeing them being used on anything more than cubes I feel the vendor is missing a sales point, personally I say save your money and learn to do it yourself , the sparkle is most likely achieved by the metallic flakes setting.
The gift card has to be 200+ dollars.
$200 minimum or more gets a 20% discount and if you add one of today's new releases the discount should increase to 28% (but currently only increases to 27%)
Sigh... I can't spend that much. I've got vet appointments already scheduled for next week. I should just clear my cart and run for hills. (I beginning think this like one of those nightmares, where you're running as hard as can but can't move...) yeah... like that.
Oh wait!!! What happened to CC Shave This Body Hair for G8 Males??? It was in my cart at $2.99 and now it's full price!
Well it was not an indication they are working on the gift card issue. Just reloaded my cart, still at 27% off.
Is today the last day for the weeklong 15% extra discount ?
Guess so unfortunately.
The 15% was only for the first week? Damn, I missed that part.
Oh well. Guess I'll have to buy less in the upcoming weeks. That really made what I've been spending less painful and the dollars stretch further, I'm glad the sale on hair came when it did.
Yeah. The extra 15% really made a difference and I don't want to buy into that all over again.
Will the $2.99 prices come back without the buy-in? I am not a fan of the buy-in.
With DAZ promos is not possible to guarantee that it will, but it is likely to not require a buy in tomorrow as (at least during the last year i have been here) the weekends of this kind of sales have the "catch up" that adds a "buy in" and/or a small price increase, but during the next week it goes back to "normal" and with new items (weekend items are usually and for the most part the same as we had during the last week all toghether). This is for PCFAD, the hair promo looks particular to this weekend not a cath up.

Not related to that..... too bad the catch up for the new releases only goes a couple of days back for the Still Mad, i can't find 2 items i actually want to pay release price in that small selection to trigger the hair promo for G8, and the only one i want is actually packed for genesis 8.1 only
Well I enjoyed the extra 15% and bought an awful lot of poses (with the blender promotion most products were down to $2 and the selection also included some non-pose products as well) and hair. Also got some of the new releases like todays mud props (highly recommended) and the new pose product by RiverSoft. Still have the 28% store credit at hand for things to come but I guess I will cut down spendings once new releases stop to be 62% off and PC+ being just $2.50. But maybe DAZ is expanding the 15% or doing some extra percentage for having spent so much in the first week (they had such kind of loyalty discounts before). Anyhow, with all those poses and hair and some things from my wishlist already removed (like the latest releases from Zev0 and Aeon Soul which also got the 15% as a nice extra) I do have so much new stuff to play with that I can definitely do some days without purchasing as a wallet relief.
