Me too. That's why I have bought only Aiko 6 and not the bundle.
Below is the portrait of Aiko 6 wearing:

    Also used:

Have to experiment with different lights, though.

    Yeah, nice,

I want to get that distant light and those presets too. Forever setting those up got tedious.

Had time to kill so I ran off a render of one of my old Bjorn scenes. Took just under 7 mins, not bad at all!

You got nice details on your Bjorn render, Rogerbee, and your lights worked well.

    Thanks,

They are a custom set up based on a tutorial by Caisson. The tutorial was for Poser but the ideas were still sound and could be adapted for DS.

I want to get the advanced distant light so I can try those presets. You can spend hours trying to set something up for yourself that doesn't look good, or you can find a preset done by someone that knows what they're doing that does look good.

...OK, diving back into my work, rekindled my old Merida project now that I have more resoruces to work with. Originally I took the toon route to develop her using a mix of several 3DU characters and Smay's Nata. One issue I kept having was that I couldn't ger the higher cheekbones needed top create her head and face shape and her chin didn't look quite right (even tried using a DFormer which helped a little but still didn't fully eliminate an unwanted crease).

Then on whim I started over, using of all figures, Teen Julie as the basis as she has slightly high cheekbones to begin with. After several sessions (which included shaping her head with scaling controls and a few of of Die Trying's Genesis morphs), I finally got as close as I think I'll ever get to the actual Pixar character.

I tried using the Toon shaders, but for some reason she looked a lot less like the character than she does with the Julie skin map and base SSS shader (with a few adjustments). For the hair I loaded two instances of the Bolina Hair prop to make it look thicker.

Looking very nice, Kyoto Kid. Seems a lot of work were gone to creating such character.
I have not yet succeded with creating a character that I would like to have for rendering,
that is why I am using mostly characters made by someone else.

...thanks, I have t in turn also thank Wancow for getting me into this with his "Belle" project last year.

Still a bit of a WIP as I'm continually working with custom morphing and SSS to get closer to her skin texture used on the original character.

I also am going to mess with Dformers on the hair a bit to try and get it to look closer to the wild mane the character in the film had. Barring that, I do have Garibaldi Express.

As to the actual dress, put out a notice in the Freepozitory to see if anyone has done a freebie version (even an MFD Texture would be nice).

Below is what 16gb of RAM can do,

Yep, I got the HD zombie from Long Time Dead to load! The textures are still the ones I made and the teeth textures are from Dental Plan for Genesis with much of the shine dialled down. This is just a test and I may do a full render at some point.

Thanks. The lights I have used in the renders came from http://www.daz3d.com/skin-builder-for-genesis-and-genesis2-female-s
I have also used different filters from Filter Forge 4, and they make the image looks even better.

Broke my nose against the Luxrender wall!

Just wanted to test Luxrender. Got it, installed it and was met by a spaceship consol with no instructions.
Tested it right out of the box and the render was horrible. Left it for a couple of months and reopened Pandoras Box yesterday.
Tried to find some instructions on how to make a decent Lux render and came up with two things to do for a first render.
    1. Use Metropolis
    2. Use Bidirectional

So I did... and came up with this.
    1. Is my original Daz Studio render with no postwork
    2. Luxrender (render time 9h 52 min)

What I need is some piece of advice to get the Luxrender to look decent. Just a few simple tips what dials and knobs to switch to what, so it looks at least semi-good.

What are you using in conjunction with DS in order to work with Luxrender? There are support threads on here for both Luxus and Reality.

...wish I was that bored. Actually I have been as I lost my net service. Have to go back to the neighbourhood coffee shop to get online again. Real pain in the bum as I just have nothing else to do while rendering and cannot watch Vid tutorials while working on learning new processes.

Downloading is also very very slow again and cannot use the DIM so I have to transfer via flash drive and manually install any content.

Will try to get some of the pics I finished transferred over to post tomorrow.

That sucks that you have to use the coffee shop for internet again. sounds like a pain

For me it's not even boredom anymore, i just have no motivation anymore to work on renders. Kinda hard to find any reason to do them any more really. make a picture put it up online somwhere and forget about it and on to the next render that also has no reason . uugg. Zero motivation.
Most of the time i just throw them up on face book now and forget even about devientart. But i continue because.......i guess practice? i don't know lol.

...yeah, no more streaming music while I work, and like i mentioned can't just "jump online to check a tutorial out when I run into a sticking point.

Actually been fairly active 3D wise pushing the software and trying to learn more of the advanced techniques to expand my portfolio as well as entering challenges to (hopefully) get GCs for buying content.

Been playing around with Luxrender again recently. I picked up a shiny new set which seemed to be begging to be used under Luxus. The default materials were all Poser based, so I converted the neon strips to light sources gave it a bit of a chrome finish in places and came up with this result.

The girl was mostly so I could see how well the outfit I recently purchased would fit on her, and again for yet more materials testing. The final result could probably use a bit more time in the 'oven', but it's been rendering for nearly 3 days solid now so I think I'm going to give it a break.
