Someone may already have asked this, and I may have missed it, but I looked through it and I don't think I found anything. I bough the Hyena, and trying to load the LAMH part but can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I got the Polar bear, which works great, I load it, add the LAMH and perfect, with this one I don't seem to figure out how to load it at all. If I click on the preset it just loads another Hyena, but not seeing any hair. It is showing when I open up the tree, but no hair on the Hyena at all, wonder what I may be doing wrong here. I got LAMH full version and player, though I seem to only have the option for the player now in the "create" tap, but that shouldn't make a difference as the Hyena works with the player alone as well from what the page said. so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have this model, but if you double click the .duf LAMH preset, it should indeed load the furred version. Did you try contacting Wayne directly?

No when I double click on that it doesn't load the furred version, so will check with him, just thought I check here first in case someone else has had the same issue and knows what I am doing wrong, as I have no doubt it's something I have set up wrong, just can't figure out what.

What ever it is I can't say it's the Hyena. I have just got a new computer on Friday. New install of DS, downloaded the Hyena double clicked the Default LAMH Duf rendered it, this is what I got. The windows hourglass icon kept flashing like it was trying to load something but then the loaded the LAMH Player into the panels and that stopped. the only other thing I can think of is if you have the Octane Render plugin installed it plays up with LAMH. Sorry don't know what else it could be.

Yeah no doubt it's not the hyena either, hence I haven't bothered you with a PM, as I don't think it's something you may even know. I have no clue why it doesn't load it with the hair. I don't have octane either. But it is right I only load the one that says LAMH preset, don't need to do anything else, right?

Yes that's all you need to do you don't have to mess around with anything.

That's what I thought, that's how all your stuff usually works and I never have an issue, which is why I didn't think it was the hyena, guess when I finished what I am working on, time to restart this pc, that sometimes clears those funny issues. Thanks again for your help.

Make sure that ONLY the full plugin is installed. The two cannot be installed at the same time.

Okay, I think this is a new question, but someone may have already asked it.

How do you edit one of the preset hairs? I've got the full program, not just the player, so I should think that it ought to work. But it doesn't.

I'm trying to build a sphinx. Cat body, human head. I've got the kitbash set up, and it will about work. There are two of them and they need to be black and white, rather than any realistic color of a wild cat. Well no real problem there. Lynn's morphs for the Milcat will about do, and they will take the Milcat's textures, which include black and white. There is a perfectly good LAMH preset for the Milcat as well, so I ought to be home free.

Well... not so much. I can apply the preset and it works just fine, but when I import the model, the whole thing comes in, not just the visible portions. There does not appear to be any way to select and delete the hair from the areas that I do not want. The selection tools simply do not work. None of them. The lasso tool does not select anything, nor does clicking on the polys.

Admittedly I've only tried it twice, and figured that I'd best ask rather than waste further time. But, is this a procedural problem. I should import the model, Then select polys, then, I don't know, delete them, or inverse the selection and then apply the preset only to the selected area (*will* it apply only to the selected area) or what?

Hi Jodel, I'm not sure I completely understood but, if you load a preset from .duf, start the LAMH editor, initially you should see the model (and white guide hair) in the LAMH viewport. At that point, just click the switch button (see attached image) and the tools will all be available (you'll notice that also the guide hair color will turn green).
If you want to remove hair areas quickly, I'd suggest perhaps editing the density map or scaling down the hairs.

Okay, but it doesn't work like that. That's the button to import the model that I want to put the hair on (it doesn't come in automatically when I've selected the model in Studio). And it doesn't come in like that. I hit that button and bring in the model, then I go get the preset from the project button, and then it waits, and then the green guide hairs show up. I never get a display of white hairs. And clicking the import buttan a second time doewn's make the tools actually function (well I don't know about the comb, I've not tried to do anything with that).

Ok, so you are not loading and editing a LAMH .duf preset, but you rather load a .lmh file. Is that correct? Then, if you say that after loading the preset, the guides are green, what is exactly that doesn't work? At that point, you should be able to comb the hair, and do all the changes you want.

I want to select and delete all the hair on the head and neck, since those are invisible in the scene and the hair is producing a ghost image. But once I load the .lmh preset I can't select anything. None of the selection tools seem to work.

Ok, let me prepare a movie to show how to do it. Hold on some minutes...

Well, i"ve found that I need to zoom in and click on the individual groups with the scissor tool. That works. Couldn't *see* it until I zoomed in really close.

The scissor lasso ought to be able to do what I'm after, but it crashes everything.

On the next revision of the plugin, could you add a cancel button? Or a quit button. As things are, if you make a mistake, or want to try to put hair on something else in the scene you have to force quit Studio, because once you've sent the LAMH window away it will only come in blank and you can't start over.

I think I've found the proper tool. But it doesn't take out all of the hair. Just most of it. And when I click on the visibility for the other hair (which comes in in orange) there is hair there as well. I need *all* the hair on the head and neck gone. Particularly the ears.

And once the preset come in the polys are non-selectable. I can select them in the model before loading the preset, and delete the (invisible) folicles, but then the preset refuses to load.

I'd do it another way. Try to use the attached density maps for the SkinFace and SkinHead. Load them in the materials setup dialog, and you'll get rid of all the hairs from the head, and on the neck.

In response to this, please take a look at this video: http://youtu.be/XvWoBNA2smQ

If you close the LAMH interface, you may reopen it from the LAMH pane->Show LAMH editor.
Also, since LAMH supports multiple figures, you may switch from one to another, as shown in the video.

Thank You! I'll give that a try. Will get back once I get something far enough along to export the hair. So far I've got about 80% done and the plugin crashes Studio.

Well, doesn't appear to work. I can find and link to the density map. The panel lists it anyway, but it doesn't apply. I hit the update and save button up at the top of the panel, and nothing happens. And when I hit the save button next to the box to apply the map I get this:

Since it will only list one map at a time I'm assuming that one needs to do this in two passes? Although I suppose neck fur could be hidden by increasing the size of the neckpiece on the headress.

Still haven't got it to a point that I can export without crashing yet.

Well it seems bound and determined to act up. Originally when I applied the hair and exported it tossed me back to Studio when finished and there was the sphinx with hair. Including the hair which was poking out of the headdress.

Now it doesn't ever return to studio, and if I move the window aside there is the sphinx with the green guide hairs. I'm not convinced that anything but the guide hair is even coming in, for when I render it the coverage seems pretty sparse.

As to the head and neck; there is more than one way to de-skin a cat. When I couldn't get the density map to apply I just shrank the cat head and ears down until it was pinheaded enough to fit inside the Genesis head and headdress. I suppose it's possible that the screwy behavior I'm getting now may be because the head is so whacked out of scale, but am assuming not.

Will try it again tomorrow and see if starting fresh gives me any different results.

Hi, I see some issues with your LAMH installation: some button images are missing, and i doubt you are using latest 1.5.01.
Please check out if it's so; eventually, as a suggestion, use the DAZ DIM to remove and reinstall LAMH 1.5.01.

BTW, the button you are clicking is for saving the density map to an external file, while the one you need to click to load one has a "+" sign that you can't see because of the interface missing images.

If you need any help don't hesitate to contact me, also via email.

Ah. I was pretty sure that reinstallation was called for. I hadn't seen that there was another update. Will go and get it when I get home later on.

I don't use the DIM but I've manually de-installed and reinstalled so I know the drill.

Very good. Also, the 1.5.01 fixes an issue specifically with the lasso selection tool, which from what I've read was one that you mentioned. If you need help, I'll be here.

Have downloaded and reinstalled. Still no buttons in the Materials setup panel and still only exporting the guide hairs.

Well, foo. Who knows how hairy a sphinx is anyway.
