    Thanks,

None of Danae's textures have bump maps, though it's easy enough to make your own. What they did do was to plug the diffuse maps into the bump channel, I suppose it works as I never used to notice they weren't bump maps. The trick to remember with the AoA shader is to plug the specular maps into the Specular 2 channel. I kept forgetting that, which is why some of my work with older textures looked odd.

I have just used default V6 and has forgotten, that one can adjust SSS strength on her.
I wonder why the creator of V6 make such a strength value as a default.

75% seems to be the default and I haven't had any issues there, you could always try a different colour for the SSS, Anna's colour is 252 210 189, that works well for the Danae Dublin render I will post shortly.

    CHEERS!
Could you please tell me in which setting dial you set the colour for the SSS?

Anyhow I have changed V6 material to Anna and have choosen 50% SSS strength settings preset.
I have also replaced Uber Environment by Advanced Ambient Light, so the rendering time dropped to 1 minute 49 seconds.
I am still experimenting with the position of AAL, but do not know if that matter.
In the scene rendered below, I have put AAL in front and above V6 head.

    Looks better,

I've attached a screenshot showing the subsurface colour, click where the colour number is and this will bring up the colour palette. Type the colour number you want into the right hand 3 boxes and click ok.

Oh, regarding the AAL, load that and leave it where it is. Make up the other lights with the ASL, assuming you have it that is. You can set the ASL up like you would any other Daz light. If there is a set you like, make a note of the position and settings and adjust the ASL to them. The lights I've been using have one AAL with the rest as ASL's.

Thanks, I have found it. One small problem persists with close up renders of V6 with Anna materials.
How can one reduce grainines on her face and neck att close up?
I have tried reducing Bump Strength and Normal Strength, with no visible effect.

I think I found out why my renders of Justin look pale. He doesn't have EHSS. Also, his skin lightning model is set to plastic. Yuck. I'll need to edit his surface settings when I have a chance. Thanks for the tip about changing the color too. I didn't know that subsurface has a color.

Try turning the specular noise down!?

I didn't notice any restrictions on tools used - but based on the original title of this thread, I thought I'd toss this in the mix. Poser Pro 2012 on the Firefly render engine. I used two lights from Colm's IDL Studio 2 and the character is The Metropolitan Collection - Edinburgh M4 from Rendo. The glasses were stock props from Poser's James character and I changed the texture on the metal frames only. The final image has ZERO post work except adding my signature.

    Now that is brilliant!

You see, Danae's textures are native to Poser and it''s where they've always looked their best. However, with minor tweaks, I hope I've shown that they can look just as good in DS. As if to continue that, below is Lyon.

    No worries,

We all get like that, job or no job. My PC build keeps hitting speed bumps, no sooner do I settle on one thing, more research means I have to rethink. I was all set to go with one retailer, then I read reviews and decided it wasn't a good idea. I've changed case brands, PSU brands, it's a minefield. I also had a job interview this morning, and will find out if I got it tomorrow. Thing is, if I do get it, I'll have to put the build on hold till I've ironed out the financial side of the job. Nothing seems straightforward right now and it's bugging the heck out of me!

    Thanks, I got it,

It's not quite a job though, I'm now in a job bank, which means that if they need someone real quick and for a short time, I'm their man. I can work it so it doesn't affect my benefits so I won't be sat twiddling my thumbs with no money coming in. It's something, but, it's not the full time job I really want. In terms of the PC build, it's doable if I'm VERY careful, so don't expect too many renders of new stuff any time soon as I want to plough as much as I can into the build and still get by.

Here's hoping that the experience I get from the work I do do will stand me in good stead to get that all important full time post

We have a supermarket over here called Tesco and their slogan is: Every little helps.

Wish you all the best with the job and hope you will get the full time post in the future.
As a matter of the PC build, take your time and research all the possibilities.
There are so many choices around...

    Thanks Artini,

The first part of the build is underway, and not without irony! I was all set to buy the case from one retailer, but, it went out of stock yesterday. So, I researched another, and a rash of satisfied customer reviews were flooding in. It dawned on me that all the bad reviews they'd been getting were during and after the Christmas rush. Customers can be so stupid sometimes where they get all self important and think it's the end of the world when things don't go their way. They look to have inundated the poor retailer with orders that, considering the time of year, they hadn't a hope of entirely fulfilling. Now though, the retailer seems to be over that hump and things are on an even keel again. If you know you're going to need something by a certain date, for god's sake don't leave it till there's a week to go!

Anyway, the irony is that, no sooner had I bought the case, the other retailer, who I'd asked to email me when more stock came in, had a big delivery of what I wanted only moments after I'd completed the other order!

The retailer that I got the case from has all the other components I need, so, provided I get what I want from them and it's all good, they'll get my business when it comes to getting the rest

    Well,

The case arrived, safe and sound. It's in perfect condition, nothing missing, no dings. I'm happy. I gave the retailer positive feedback on eBay and a glowing review on Trustpilot. If things go right it's important to build up a good rapport with the retailer to ensure that good service continues. I'll definitely be getting the rest of the components for the build from them. There's still a long way to go as yet, but, things are off to a great start.

I'll render what I can when I can on this thing, but, I can't wait to see what the new box will do...

    CHEERS!

    EDIT:

Found a graphics card better than what I was going to get for under £7 more (It should have been over £30 more and would have been out of my price range.), it was a higher spec model and there was only one left in stock, so, I went for it. That's now got the most expensive (in terms of individual parts) part of my build out of the way and it'll be plain sailing from hereon in.....hopefully!

So, recently I found myself in need of some dark skinned textures for Genesis 2 and ended up drawing a blank. At present there doesn't seem to be any options for black Genesis 2 figures, though I'm sure we'll see some arriving in the future. That said, I was able to create my own using some V4 textures and UberSurface2.

I had to work the materials from scratch. Being a rendo skin it was, as one might expect, missing specular maps among other things, so I ended up spending a great deal of work creating my own maps for it. I think the result came out reasonably well, but I'd certainly appreciate a second opinion from less biased persons.

Both the child and the female are using the remastered skins. The boy is Genesis 2 male using the Growing Up set and the V4 UV maps (since they're inter-compatible) so both he and his mother are using the same materials except for the eyes. The grass was done using LAMH instancing.

    They look great,

I've used Marie and Rob elite textures and have got good results and there are a couple of Mec4D male textures for M4 that would work with shader tweaks. You are right though, there isn't much out there.

Thanks. It's part of a series I've been working on for some time now. Sooner or later I'll have to stop dropping teasers and post a few pages, but as always I like to make sure everything is picture-perfect before I give it the proverbial thumbs up. Since Genesis 2 has arrived, I've been working on redesigns of some of the characters to take advantage of the benefits.

Here's a couple of recent frames scaled down for easier viewing (not a full scene, just a sample). Larger versions of these are available to view on my Deviantart page.

I agree with you, but you're missing my point. It was removed as inappropriate. Whether we agree or not, you just reposted an image deemed inappropriate. What we think is not the point.
