liked the idea JakieBlue had about birthdays coupon or something mine was on the 18th, this does remind a few times I did get some bonus coupons, few years ago I went fully blind from cararacts so I missed several months of using my coupons, when i got my eyesight I had several emails from daz missing me with several bonus codes which was really nice, so yeah a birthday one for pc members would be nice. Maybe every now again reoffer some of the past pc bundles or every now again a choice where you can build your own bundle of say really old stuff, or so many gen 2 say 4 items, or three gen 3 or two gen8 either at a heavy discount or free or a mix bag of stuff from the various generations an other items
I'm only getting $2.10 off when applying the 'HIGH-FIVES' coupon.
Glad for you that you've found use for it, but it never works out that way for me. I can try cart after cart of items, and the code doesn't take anything off, or only takes a couple dollars off. The question was about people's ideas of how PC club could be more useful/desirable. This was my suggestion based on my usage and experience. That's great that your experience has been different, but telling me that my experience/opinion is wrong just discourages me from participating in future conversations.
Understood, Daz forums! Nobody is interested in my opinion if theirs is different. I'll keep my mouth shut in the future. If I wanted to argue on the internet I'd go to reddit.
Are you using it on the Yuzuru Pro Bundle, add-ons, and $50 of free items? Earned freebies like that can confuse the coupons - if that is the problem make a note of the amount you missed out on and open a support ticket requesting a refund of the missed amount https://www.daz3d.com/help/help-contact-us
If you are finding the coupon works only partially i suspect you have a similar issue to that mentioned in my immediately preceeding post - items in the cart that are free with the purchase of a nother item, but not free in the store on their own. As I said above, if you do find yourself in that situation you can open a suppot ticket to request a refund of the amount you lost (but if you can, split the coupon use and the eearned freebies across two orders to avoid the issue).
Another thing to remember is that the total price of the back-catalogue items after other discounts must be over $18 for the coupon to apply - if they are $18+ on their product page prices but you have an extra discount in the cart then that may pull the ttoal below the threshold and stop the coupon from working.
And the problem with that would be???
Okay, put a max on it, say 25%. I doubt if there are very many people with more than $12,500 worth of DAZ products in their runtime. Yeah, I am sure there are some, but the vast majority of users likely have far less. Or make it 1% for every $1000 owned.
I got my High-Fives coupon code & it worked on 2 Yard & Garden DO items & the Coffee Shop PC+ for a day item but it wouldn't work on other items I tried it on like I had a cart of 8 PC+ items for a PC+ Bundle sale & it wouldn't work. I guess that was intentional though.
uh......according to My Orders page, I've actually spent way more than $12 500 here....I really don't know whether I want to admit that!
And I'm not a professional or do this to get paid, nor can I claim any of this on tax or anything like that - I'm an average user I think. A hobbyist. I think you may be surprised to find how many customers have spent more than $12 500 here.
It doesn't work on PC+ items, only DAZ Originals that are not new and are not PC+ items.
Like Jakiblue said, lots of us have spent over $12.5k. I've spent $US15.9k in real money, (or $111k in DAZ 'value') and I'm on a pension.
well over 20k
so staying out of PC+ for now
What? Spent over 12.5 k and above? ....cringe....
I think before people get too embarrassed, bear in mind how many years that's been spread over. I mean people can spend that yearly (easily..) on their hobbies.. and you know what, it's all good. What else do we earn money for? I certainly don't feel bad when spending on myself/family (after all the boring bills are paid, yea sure..). So if it makes you happy, go for it.
Think what people pay for boats and toys like that! 3D is cheap in comparison.
And it doesn't take up any extra space in the house, garage, or yard.
I have no idea how many products the average user has, but I know quite a few that have from 10-20.000 products or even more (I've just crossed the 16.000 line myself). If we say the average price paid for a product is just $4, that's $40.000 for 10.000 products.
Are you sur about the space thing? What about the array of servers hosting the content (or is that just me)?
I've managed to contain it inside my computer case. Of course, I do have the NAS where it is backed up, but I'd have the NAS anyway, even without Daz 3D content. And I've only been doing this since 2012, and I have way fewer than 10,000 products. What it really takes up is TIME.
Yes I actually worked out I spent less on DAZ stuff over 10 years than my brother had on pay TV
I don't have any other hobby expenses most other stuff I do other than for survival is free.
So no it's not as bad as it sounds especially considering I lost half as much as that in a few seconds writing off a car by failing to avoid the one in front of me once!
I wonder if enough people would benefit from some sort of an ongoing "helpful tips" or "spotlight on tool/workflow X" thread, or if that would eat too much time to be manageable or if you would run out of helpful tips and workflow reminders. Just randomly pick little tips and tricks or less-used-but-useful or commonly misunderstood features of DAZ Studio. The kinds of things we stumble across in the forums, but organized into a single known location thread that can be looked forward to on a regular basis. Of course that won't help non-DS users, but I'm guessing many users use DS so many would find it helpful.
I'm still trying to think of something geared towards providing value to those with an insanely sized content library. The obvious generic direction to go with that is finding ways to make use of said library rather than trying to add to it (adding will either happen on it's own already as it currently does, or not if that's no longer possible, you don't really need to address that part of it.). Not sure how that works into a new platinum club feature though.
Well I agree with Bamboozler and the other people who suggest some of those platinum club coupons are impossible to take advantage of. If I want to save $6 on something that costs $7 but I have to buy an $11 item to make the coupon work, then I am now saving $6 on an $18 purchase. So I'm paying $12 with the coupon instead of $7 without it. It would make more since to not use the coupon. It would make even more since to cancel the platinum club membership because then I would save that money and I'm not using the coupon anyway. It should't take such mathematical wizardry to benefit from the platinum club membership.
Previously, I went on a rant about how the free item of the week seems to often be something nobody would pay money for anyway. Just after that, I saw that the new free item of the week was the Sci-Fi Roller Bot.
The platinum club, as it is, seems to only benefit people who always find something to spend money on. It doesn't benefit people who only buy what they want or need. Maybe the name should be changed to the Impulse Buyer's Club. Or, as suggested before, the $6 savings should be added to the $6 savings of the next month if it hasn't been used. Or they could follow the model used by Costco with their cash back; if the two $6 coupons aren't used then subtract that money from the cost of renweing the platinum club membership.
Curious.. do they ever run discounts like Daz do on their memberships?
ETA: Because if not.. then theres your discount.. if they do, to the same degree Daz does, then yea.. good on them.
I dont think it does.. at the very least, with an annual membership you're getting 60 new free products a year, plus 40 older ones during the PC anniversary. So without spending anything, you're getting content - which even factoring in the comments about not liking some of them - I'm sure the value of items that you like would be at least equal the $70.. more if you purchased it on sale.
Speaking about spending lots, I was curious to know why the items on the catch-up sale are more expensive?
Seeing as how they have asked for feedback I was wondering if anyone else could identify with this: What normally happens to me is that I load my cart full of all the items that I want, and then baulk at the cost, knowing that I've already gone waaay over my budget. I then go through everything and offload all the items that I don't really need. This continues day after day until I am eating nothing but rice crispies and tree bark.
By the time we get to the catchup, I have all the items I want, but because my past purchases are in the past and it's a new day, I justify spending just a little more on a few nice-to-haves. For the last two PC sales though, the catch-up are more expensive, so you end up paying more for items that are less important to you- items that you have already rejected. Because of this, I tend to think a lot harder about whether I really, really, really want this item or not. For me, I usually say "enough is enough. I've enjoyed the hell out of it, and have no regrets, but I'm done." On the other hand, if they were the same price on catchup, that would be a little carrot dangling in front of my face, and I know I wouldn't be able to resist getting just one more item: Maybe I could use that slice of lime after all, if I ever decide to create a giant spaceship that's shaped like a floating piece of lime!! Yes, yes, I do need this!
Anyway, food for thought.
Do mean the 1.99 PC for a day products?
I can't speak for marketing - but - I think it's getting that blend of rewarding people who purchase them straight away (hence the PC for a day moniker) and then also trying to offer incentives to those who are a little late to the party. I think even at 2.99 the items are a steal.. so I think it's kind of best of both worlds.. IMHO of course.
how about pc for a day or week literally. What I mean is everyone who is not a pc member, for one day or up to week if possible get to experiance the full benefits of being a pc member such as the discounts we get for new releases including if by chance that extra discount we get on a new pro/starter bundle if released at the time and the two coupons we get but these are limited to a max of one week this can be purple banner codes and for those that are already pc members they get bonus 2 coupons/purple banner codes too but also short limit time of a week
There are incentives like that in place already :)
i still haven’t used my $5 coupon yet,
does the high-fives coupon code expire on the 29th at 12:01am or is it good until the end of day on the 29th 11:59pm?
...so OK, as I understand it is supposed to expire at the end of the month, tried it on my cart and received a message saying Coupon HIGH-FIVES not valid .
Can we get the full conditions again because I really don't want to hunt down that email from so many weeks ago.
Looking at earlier posts in this thread (as I didn't get the survey or coupon) it seems to be for Daz originals except new and PC items.
