I miss when Daz3D used to have sales
in The Commons
I used to buy lots of stuff from Daz3D. Then they started this "Buy a new release, only then can you get the sale price" crap and I haven't bought a thing in years. I miss coming to Daz and going on a shopping spree, especially since I have much more money these days.

Hmm I have to agree...I see the "buy this to get that" line and just leave...
Well, sometimes the "buy this and get something cheap" does work for me.. but most of the time the really low prices would like me to buy stuff I have absolutely no use for or that look to me very uninspired.
But as I still have a lot of old stuff to full my library with in the wishlist, there still are many opportunities to spend my money here ^^
Like today's "$1.99/$2.99 with 1 of these new releases" sale? All the inexpensive bonus items are from the RDNA catalog and I got most of what I was interested in from them years ago when it was a competitor. There are a few plants but they aren't part of this deal.
Daz started this "some sort of promotion every day" after March Madness and I don't think Marketing thought it through. I doubt the long 2019 PA, Anniversary, holiday and 2020 MM sales aren't going to generate as much excitement (which means sales) as previous years, because all us buyers will be sick and tired of months of confusing, & often ill-executed, promo deals. In the past, it would be fun to see what gimmicks Marketing came up with during these sales, & some of the promos were really great deals, like PC+ for a Day.
have you had your retail high today?
hoping the fg has a juicy tidbit
yeah ... buy 2 new to get 10% off this, or 20% of that ... not my cup of tea.
I was all excited with the possibility of buying 10 BEST SELLERS ... and then came and saw very old moldy RDNA items. I was a HUGE fan of RDNA. Bought a lot of stuff there, but most items that came over are things I had passed on over at RDNA already.
The repeat of Daz Originals is also very off-putting. How many times can you browse the same stuff over and over and over.
Then the FACT that new product releases are going up and up in price. I'm pretty close to being priced out ... I now wait for a way to get 60-70% off. 40-50% doesn;t even cut it anymore.overall
I was so excited too when I saw the sales banner: 10 best sellers, I saw myself buying a few Stonemason sets, some great light sets and perhaps a few hairstyles. I thought I buy the pose set to trigger the discount ( can never have too many pose sets) and then I saw the RDNA items
, I was so disappointed. I still think it must be some misstake, this can't be best sellers surely ..... perhaps they were at some point but not now. I also just buy when it's atleast 60 % discount, unless it's something I can't resist buying instantly on the release day which doesn't happen very often.
I remember the old sales too. In the forum, we used to have a 'game' with lists of things we wanted to see in a bundle, and tick off the one you most wanted. Then you kept checking the poll to see if yours was in the lead. If it wasn't, you'd post in the thread trying to sway ppl to vote with you. Sometimes ppl even said I'll vote with you on this, if you'll vote for me on the next. It was fun. You ended up with great products and ppl were happy. Sigh..... And PC was $1.99, all day every day.
Sale prices were rock bottom. None of the buy 2 and get this %, or buy 4 and get bigger %. Like you said, they'r'e pretty much products that most of us have from longevity here or they're old transplants, and the rest are ones I didn't want at the time they came out. Only a couple times I bought 2 new items (if they were really something I could use) to get free pro bundles I could't afford before. I picked up the Tween Pro packs for girl and boy, the Centaur Pro packs for male and female, and even Scott (gag) cuz hey for free, right? A few others I didn't want, but again, free. And I still use a lot of G3 anyway.
Yeah, prices are a killer. But vendors are putting out better and better products with what's available in software today. So I guess that's the tradoff. My wishlist is littered with things I want. So I put the price I'm looking for, set notification, and wait. Sometimes you get a nibble, but not offen.
i guess it's just me then as I have bought more products on sale in the past few years than ever. With G2, I only own one of the addon figures, giselle, with G3 it was up to 4 with G8 I have nearly all of them and they were all purchased on sale. While I don't particularly like the buy one thing to get another sales tactics, there are always PC+ new items and these have gotten me some sweet discounts. I am jaded now, when i see a sales banner for 60% off, I know to wait and I can usually get it for less at some point. I also use the history on the deal browser plugin and if i see that it has been offered for a lot less than what I am about to pay, I sometimes rethink the purchase.
Oh, there probably *are* hundreds of items. But if you've already bought something, it's hidden by default and you don't see it.
There's this "hide products I own" box that can be unticked, and it reveals there's a total of only 128 items.
Visiting the store using a different browser, which is NOT logged in, also shows there's only 128 products listed.
Whilst I have not been buying stuff long enough to remember the "good old days", I think it is a bit harsh to say there have been no decent sales recently. The temporary PC+ items about a couple of weeks or so ago, included some top quality PA products, not just the usual DO products constantly on sale, and if you were a PC+ member, there was no need to buy any items in order to trigger the sale.
I seem to remember Daz having a huge 2.99 sale last month that seemed to last forever and didn't require me to buy anything. I racked up on a lot of items in my wishlist!
Like that other thread says, There's always another sale on Daz.
I don't like to complain, sales here are amazing, but... There really are only 128 items of the alleged hundreds that were supposed to be there. Also, most are ancient. AND, several are for Poser, only.
I was ready to buy two of the new items today, especially the beautiful "Sisters." But I'm over-propped as it is. Hard drive's almost full. Can't imagine what I really 'need.' So even when they mess up here, they do me a favor! Love this place!
Over the past six months or so there've been so many sales I remember people making threads about being burnt out on them. I've only been around about a year and a half, but in that time period I've seen everything from new and very desirable items at PC+ prices for a month to longer stretches of the standard "buy new item and get 65% off the releasing PAs' catalogs" stuff. This feels like a pretty normal state of doing business for Daz? I certainly haven't perceived any kind of shift in business model; they do different types of sales because they appeal to different types of people.
I remember that game, I loved it. It was an Anniversary Sale tradition years ago. Every week Daz would post a long list of items we could vote on to be PC price for several days. I got Daz Studio 3 Advanced that way. The PC+ For a Day reminds me of it.
Speaking of promotions I do enjoy--yes there are some--I miss the promo Daz used to do for some new base figure releases: Buy the newly-released Pro Bundle and get the previous 2 generations' Pro Bundles free, usually with the same deal for the Starter Bundle and base. (E.g., Buy M8 Pro, get M 6&7 Pro bundles free) They first did these during G3 but stopped soon after G8. IIRC, Monique 8 was the last deal like this.
I was excited, took my lunch break, and... oh. One page of RDNA stuff - never bestsellers, here, and I really do own nearly everything I wanted that ported over from RDNA. Sigh; but shopping shouldn't be the goal anyway :-D Plus, new stuff I can't use being the condition makes everything on offer lose lustre by association.
I am one of them who purchased many items over past six month. My first purchase probably 2 or 3 months ago though at that time I was unfamilier with Daz sales and some items I bough with full price and then I realized I can catch sales and I catched almost all sales during that time. Now it is actually good for me. I will again start purchase bulk items after 1 or 2 months later.
Unless there was once a market for rendering women in skimpy outfits whilst holding hoes, forks, or other garden implements, I suspect that a lot of those items were never bestsellers anywhere even when released for the first time a decade or so ago.
...the two I dislikes the most were BOGOs and the ones where you had to collect points for progressively better discounts (like what airlines and hotels with their sponsored credit cards).
I remember a March Madness where you got a flat 50% off with no gimmicks and there were special coupons you could use that increased the discount (like the time one of Utah's college hoops teams was in the NCAA version of MM).
Of alI, I feel the best is the PC+ anniversary sale, thought last spring I loved those "PC+ For a Day" specials (though you must be a member). Picked up around 1,400$ worth of content I needed and wanted for just a little over 100$.
The banner sales are OK but I don't get a lot of them as most tend to based on having purchased G8 character or Pro Bundle and I'm content working with with G3 (not into having to get all the other tools I need for character development like merchant resources & such all over again).
I don't really get the OP's comments.
If it doesn't suite you then don't buy, which you haven't been doing.
I don't mind sales incentives; some suite me, when they do I buy, presuming there are products I want. if there are no products I want, I don't buy.
It can be 100% off, if I don't want it or like it, then I don't buy. I pass on lots of the freebies.
I wonder if they have some disconnect between raw sales and gift card sales. Like they're not giving products purchased via gift card the same weight as stuff bought with 'real' rather than captured currency. So they're trying to crack down on gaming the sales, not realizing said games were an enormous part of DAZ's attraction in the first place.
We get sales all the time that don't require a new release purchase, so I don't even get this thread. We even get frequent flash sales. We get surprise coupon sales, etc. We get a lot of sales that aren't dependent upon a new release purchase.
I'm more or less fine with most of the sales here. If nothing strikes my fancy, I just don't buy that day ;). V4/M4 stuff is very definitely OFF my list and has been for a decade. No sale is going to entice me to get those items, even if they were free - they'd just be clogging up hard drive space I could use for newer things ;).

There are some nice new items, that hair by Hellboy looks very nice but I am broke from all the bigger sales.
There is nothing wrong with today’s new just why did they bother with the ridiculous hundreds of top seller items promotion, just a oh you can grab an old thing cheap if you want to as well comment would have sufficed.
Well, there's my question answered - I was wondering "Is it something wrong with my browser? Cache or cookies maybe? or are the 'hundreds' of 'top sellers' 128 items?"
For me, the "Buy this to trigger that" sales are hit and miss - as long as there's a new item I want, or enough things in the sale to absorb the overhead cost, I like 'em fine :) Other times, not so much... :)
...for me it is the same, as most "trigger" items are G8 content I have no interest in purchasing.
