Yes I use Genesis still
I do occasionaly still use all of the Genesis figures from time to time wit G3 qnd G8 being my main stay.
From time to time - although I got started with Daz in the G8 era, I've picked up a few G2 characters. A particular favourite is a retextured/slightly dial spun blend of Girl 6 and Ysabeau 6 that's my go to when I want a slightly stylised character.
Genesis 2 and now Genesis 3 Female mainly due to the https://www.daz3d.com/undead-creature-creator-hd-morph-pack-for-genesis-3-female, https://www.daz3d.com/fantasy-creature-creator-hd-morph-pack-for-genesis-3-female..
Have not bought a lot into or used G8 much mainly because I am still waiting for https://www.daz3d.com/undead-creature-creator-hd-morph-pack-for-genesis-3-female, https://www.daz3d.com/fantasy-creature-creator-hd-morph-pack-for-genesis-3-female to make there way to G8F
I still use M4, V4, G1...it all depends on the render. I have a lot of clones that allow me to swap cloths and IRAY scripts to convert the older models. Sometimes M4 and V4 look better than G8.
I still use V4-G2, nothing higher, and only one male G2 at that. Having invested in clothes and morphs they do what I need. I still use 3Delight as well, never iRay. I do have a few monsters for one-shots in the G3/8 category, but I find them very frustrating because unless I start buying more morph sets, there isn't much I can do to tweak them, so they are very 'out-of-the-box', which bugs me. I do character work, so there really isn't much incentive to change generations once a character is designed - redesigning in a different generation can be painful. I did move a V4 character to Genesis... but it isn't perfect, and I can see the difference and it drives me nuts! Wouldn't have bothered except there were certain outfits I wanted to be able to access without too much pain, so now I switch her back and forth depending on the clothing for the scene. Genesis seems to have had a lot of support when it happened, so there is very little I can't accomplish with Genesis and its add-ons, and now it is even cheaper to pick up bits, so I continue to expand its possibilities even now. New V4 skins are still being made, which gives a lot more potential variety than the current generations. When you're doing characters, variety is everything (eyebrows... it all comes down to the eyebrows!)
I still like using the older figures because i love the Creature Creator packs. Turn a dial and you can go from a hag to a cat. Big downer that those were dumped for newer figures.
This is the cat morph for V.2.. Done in Poser in 2008.
Depends on what I'm doing, and what I need. But yes, I do still use Genesis and G2, but seldom use V4 anymore (though I do use bits and pieces her cloths and accesories quite a bit). With Carrara I typically use Genesis or G2. I definitely use G3F and G8F more now, but I still find the older models useful, but they do tend to need more shader work to look good in Iray.
I prefer the older models over G8. My main Daz couple are G3, but I still use G2 and Aiko 3. In fact, I did a Reality render of Lilith 6 about a week ago. It was just a test, but I intend to do more renders of her in the future.
Wow I really thought I was the last man standing, using G1, nice to know I'm not alone
I used to base my character use on the clothing. I had clothing for V2, MGPT and otheres that just wouldn't convert well. That problem has mostly gone away since Crossdresser 4 came along. Now, I will hang on to a character if there is a morph that I can't move to something else. (For instance Bucky for Toon Generations 2 over at Rendo. I also have a very pretty character for the original Sara that doesn't work with version 2).
Oh yeah, I still use poser a fair amount, so Genesis 2 is the limit on that.
Still use G1 occasionally, especially for monsters or distant shots. I use 2/3/8 about evenly. I sometimes use V4, though I am building an upconvert library with some V4 stuff converted to G2.
I use G8/G3 for Toons and semi-Toons. But for regular stylized illustrations I'm still with G1.
Mostly Genesis 3 for my main OC "Candy Lan:"
I only use the maps of the old Millennium/Genesis generations.
I use everything back to Generation 2 (Michael 2 era, not just Genesis 2 [though I use that too]). Here's a render I did just a bit ago of Hiro 3 as Stratus, in Wildheart and the Hiro Hair.
