The downside in this case is that I couldn't use store credit that I already got in anticipation of possibly buying a pro bundle and instead would have to spend even more cash to get the discount
Really excited to finally get Mei Lin! I have been waiting for so long.
Small complaint...Would have liked to see some hanfu or wuxia outfits instead of a kimono, but I guess Mei Lin is an all-purpose Asian woman rather than specifically Chinese as her name implies.
The freebies for getting mei Lin 8 pro is a let down this time along with the $1.50 and $2.50 stuff, cause they are the same items offered as the last Pro figure sale...just wish they give banner coupon in place of monthly DAZ coupon that actually fully work for us that bought last month pro items... or just include the HD add on for free, as I never understand why pro bundle never include HD add on.
Good thing Mei Lin 8 is younger and better looking, older age looking model is harder and less flexible to be use. It’s easier to increase age on model textures yourself than de age them.
I second that this incentive for owners of earlier generations is the least attractive one we had for a while - although 20% off a GC is a good deal in general. Might wait for the next 1-2 days and see what other new releases are coming. And if I tend towards buying just the Pro Bundle and a gift card leaving the free items out to fully make use of the coupon. What I still don't understand is that the 7 to 8 shape product is not free for Gen3-owners. I always can use the "real" G3 figure of course but having the shape for G8 would be a nice bonus making things easier.
Agreed. I just went and checked out the deals and nothing i can't do without and not much of an incentive for me. I love Asian characters (just ask Mousso, LOL) but never really cared for Mei Lin much
I'm thinking that after posing the figure and applying dForce, I could add a suitably morphed plane or cylinder under the kimono, as one example.
I think most would plump for $10 off now than handing over and extra $50 (or so) now for savings later.

Well yesterday I just cancelled my PC account and deleted my method of payment. It was going to expire Nov 25th anyway. Oh well, my CC needs a vacation.
She does come with lots of nice characters. I'd like to know what that hair is she's wearing in the promo. It's not in her bundle if anyone knows.

Yes but screen shot the error and send in a ticket, or as I sometimes do, not bother with the buying. It depends how much I want the items I spose. I'll be putting in a ticket today, some cool items.
I prefer longer term saving; money in my bank not Daz's; I just don't need the credit atm.
I still can't believe they haven't fixed this after all this time. Honestly, how difficult is it? If DO item in cart has price of $0 then coupon should ignore that item. The coupon ignores other items already, why can't another stipulation be added in the code? I really think they have little interest in making it work properly as revenue is higher when people can't and don't use it.

Same. 7 never really interested me. And I've never picked up her Pro Bundle in the other previous offers.
For 8, I only like the base and the kimono. There is another outfit I sort of like too. But I'm not sure if I should splurge though...Yep, I think that's it! Thank you so much.
Looking very impressive, Mei Lin 8. I have 6 and 7... so tempting. I don't think I need anything for my main character, Candy - thought I may "regenerate" her some time down the line using a new base.
I suspect Genesis 9 is probably right around the corner... LOL especially if I buy MeiLin8... ha ha
I'm not impressed by the bundles (Starter and Pro). Although I do like her base figure. Just not enough to buy it right now. I was expecting a few pieces of Asian Clothing
I'm even less than impressed with the purple banner. A coupon AND Mei Lin 8's Pro Bundle. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not a cash cow. And if you can do both, you are very fortunate.

I went nuts on the Mousso 4 hour flash sale last night and got the Aquarium Bar and 5 Mousdo ladys. That and my purchases Friday and Sunday have killed my budget this month. Looks like I will be getting either Mei Lin only or maybe the starter bundle because I like the archer outfit and hair with the $6.00 PC coupon. But I do like her.

Hmmm, I didn't think kimonos were so open up front. It should be more on the side, but the way they are wrapped up there isn't often any opening at all. You don't normally need to worry about the legs because you cannot see them anyway. That the fabric could not overlap without exploding shows how limited dforce really is. There is probably no simple way around this. Perhaps a conforming tight dress that wraps around both legs could work, and that item has no dforce. That way it will not conflict as much. Because the item is mostly under the rest of the kimino you may not see any faults it may present. Especially is the opening on the kimono is on the side where it is less visible.
As to the promo... I have to agree that the 20% bonus card offer isn't a well thought out substitute for a bonus discount in place of already having both previous Pro Bundles. It'll work out okay for me, but I know a lot of people are hurting in the pocketbook and something that requires you to spend a huge amount more to get the "bonus" really isn't much of a bonus if you can't take advantage of it. Since it's supposed to be taking the place of not getting a bunch of free content as a reward for being a good customer, that's kind of a double kick in the teeth for those folks. It's also sad not to see the extra discounting on the non-bundled ML8 sale items, as there are some nice items that I would have tossed in the cart if they'd had the same nudge we've seen in previous Pro Bundle promotions... that cost you a few sales from me DAZ. Finally, while I was able to pick out 10 of the free items, the $1.59 and $2.59 item categories all do seem to be from that same batch of stuff that's been in every discount sale recently and in checking some of the items that I've already boguht, I bought a bunch of them for the exact same prices when I bought the Vladmir bundle on October 18. Needless to say, that left the both selections feeling very stale and picked over, and I haven't found a single item yet in either group that I've suddenly acquired a sudden desire to purchase in the last 20 days. Especially with all the other items DAZ is dumping into the store in torrents.
All that said, I do like the look of ML8 better than her previous generations, especially the younger appearance, and while none of the contents of the PP itself are all that spectacular, at least there's nothing dreadful in them.
I think that you posted everything that I was going to post. I also struggled to find 10 items that I actually wanted (would have been easier to have up to 10 items).
I really like the look of the Mei Lin Pro bundle, but I feel that the deals on Pro bundles have gotten worse over the past year. Previous bundles such as Alexandra, Edward, Edie and Ollie came with the HD morphs included, and later bundles that didn't at least gave a bigger discount on both the pro bundle and any add-ons as you placed more add-ons in your order. To also have a banner that effectively says, "Because you already have a previous Mei Lin bundle, we are going to allow you to leave some more of your money with us in return for 20% extra when you decide to spend it with us."
I've finally decided to get just the Pro bundle and wishlist some of the add-ons for a later sale, or when I can use a pc voucher.
I thought your work is fantastic! Traditional vs Modern:Peony Kimono can be the traditional and yours is modern. Just so, maybe, the open kimono can be treated as a robe without the belt? (I am not clear about the definition of a kimono outfit!)

I already own the Mei Lin 7 pro bundle but when I add the Mei Lin 6 pro bundle to my cart with the Mei Line 8 pro bundle and the 10 free items, the version 6 bundle doesn't go to $0. It is listed as a 50% discount. Do both 6 and 7 have to be in the cart for the proper discount to work?

Same here. I might have been tempted by the Pro Bundle because of the gift card offer, but it would mean I couldn't use previous store credit... and if you want to promote the idea of buying store credit, showing your customer then and there that they're not then allowed to use it on certain baskets because they have forbidden items in them is not the best advertisement.
I entirely understand that previous store credit shouldn't be useable for buying more store credit (otherwise people would just exploit discounts by buying getting free value on a gift card, then buying a bigger gift card with that, and so on and so forth for infinite credit), but the fact that the credit can't simply be made to not apply to specific items rather than preventing it being used on the basket at all is another unimpressive example of DAZ's store being unable to intelligently apply what credit and coupons should be applicable to. I shouldn't have to be submitting help tickets to get back money because the store can't work out not to apply more of a coupon to an item than it actually costs.
As it is, I might pick up the base character and one of the add-on characters I particularly like, but:
- I don't need the rest of the bundle enough that I'd be buying it on its own merits
- the free items aren't stuff I desperately need (and if I tried to get them, I'd have to send in a help ticket to get most of my PC+ coupon back)
- I've already got the Mei Lin 7 bundle
- Mei Lin 6 doesn't tempt me enough to justify that offer (the more stylised Genesis 2 characters like Aiko 6 and Girl 6 have dated quite well. The others generally haven't).
- And Daz has already got some of my money and won't allow me to spend it on this if I want to capitalise on the store credit offer, so why would I lock more of my money into their store (particularly as the GBP to USD rate isn't that great right now anyway) - and as a result, they may well end up missing out on selling me things I might have been tempted by if I'd known I was buying them with a discounted gift card.
Although I understand that computer systems are complex, it must be possible to set up a system where you can use store credit on a basket, and it just doesn't apply that to new gift cards.
