Here's a render of Dawn planning her next move.
Yup, I was right. Inner mouth is set back too far. DAMMIT! GRRRRRRRRR Rigging adjust worked very nicely and the ERC Freeze is good but fixing the morph means I'll have to start over with the rigging fix since there is some weird bug in DS that if you readjust the rigging it goes all wonky! :-(
That is frustrating! Can you morph it into the right place?
Hi Heather- for some reason your image is too dark to see-I can just barely make out a female figure.
I didn’t said Dawn is not weight mapped. What I said is Dawn is a regular figure, so all it takes to have Poser and DAZ Studio versions are 2 different riggings OR one non-weight mapped rigging (like Victoria 4 and older), but that Genesis involves much more than just the weight mapping so unfortunately it was not possible to have it in Poser.
Yea, it's doable. I won't have to start over. I'm still getting familiar with the Move, Rotate and Scale controls in ZB though. The procedure is kinda fidgety but it works. Mask off the inner mouth parts, invert, hide the back of the head and ears and what ever else in the way but keep the face visible and click the Move button (next to the Edit button). Make sure you have the head either snapped forward or to the side (side is best) and center ring grab and move forward. If you hold down the Shift key it will keep things constrained. I wish there were a way to just drag/select the part you want to move and then just use the up, down and side to side keyboard keys. Perhaps some day Pixologic will figure that out.
Decided to submit a "wish list" improvement idea:

I doubt anything will come of it but doesn't hurt to put it out there!
Sounds like a pain. I've not tried this yet. You never know about wish lists-things might happen!

Even so, wouldn't the differences in the weight mapping for DS and Poser made it necessary to produce two different Genesis versions anyway?
I think Hivewire3D is currently going down the road that DAZ didn't want to take - for understandable reasons. Now we get so see what happens to a figure that is split into two versions - and to it's market.
Hello. I have been working with Dawn all week creating morphs just to see what I could come up with. I am having a problem with her forehead and think it might be because of the triangles in the mesh.
The forehead got lumpy and I cant smooth it back out. Has anyone else had this problem? I wish I could fix it.
Genesis is more than just a weight mapped figure, it is a new figure system that needs functions that are part of DAZ Studio and where not available in Poser at Genesis's release. The newest versions of Poser have added many of those functions so a native Poser Genesis could be made. But while the Studio and Poser may have similar tech now they work differently so the DS and Poser Genesis would still be two mostly incompatible figures. This is why I feel HiveWire should concentrate on making Dawn Poser's Genesis.
Hand and a distant Foot render of the work I did on them in ZBrush. Think the shapes turned out rather well!
I will say that, in so far as I've run into problems with Dawn, they've all been on the DS side so far (not DAZs fault, mind you). I'm not really familiar with the product's underpinnings enough that I can say that this is a structural image or just inexperience by a couple of the vendors.
Funny you mention that. Just spoke with Cath and she mentioned that compared both Dawn in DS and Poser that in Poser her shoulders are overly large and tummy has some weird thing going on. In DS this is not the case with how DS handles her in Sub-D.
Here is my (heavily postworked) image of Dawn. For some reason her eyelashes didn't render and I painted them on in Photoshop. I made new transmaps for the lashes which work fine though. So far I like her hands better than V4 and her face is prettier right out of the box. But because I have soooooo much content for V4 and don't feel like spending a ton of money on morphs and textures for a new character, I will stick mostly with V4, but occasionally take Dawn out to play... I like her smile too.
...I definitely agree about her smile, it is a lot more pleasant
Hi Type O
No issues on this end. Here is an EXTREME morph Dawn Character I made. The forehead is extensively changed-without any lumps that I did not put there.
What are you using to morph?
Yep! Manly hand it is![

Just a heads up, there was an error with the Poser version of Dawn's base textures. The DS version had the correct textures, and the Poser version did not. You can just copy them over from the DS zip or Skondris also said that the Poser zip will be updated. From what I saw it was just the eye textures affected.
There's a thread in the Contact section of their forums, "Dawn texture jpg differences between DS and Poser versions.". It's in there.
If those hips/thighs are acceptable to you, fine. Since this is a humanoid figure, I want something looking similar to the images below.
:)
thigh pose 2
Move the camera so you're seeing the hip/thigh from the back left. First is Dawn, second is G2F.
Here's an example of what I want to see.
Just a couple of quick renders...
Some more renders...personally I like Dawn. What everyone else does or thinks is up to them...please click on the red tshirt one the forum compression wrecks the stars on the tshirt.
Some renders…
I will say this, Dawn has a more intelligent UV map layout.
Be nice to see someone make a UV mapping for G2F that uses Dawn's 5_Nails UV map to allow much better fingernails on G2F.
...nicely done, Love the pretty fey.
I think Dawn has a good potential. She definitely needs more morphs and nice textures, but so far I like her :)
I hope she'll get good support for Poser and DS in the future.
...the more I see here, the more I am encouraged.
Have her (well the basic figure) but been so busy with a backlog of other projects haven't been able to sit down and work with her yet.
...nicely done, Love the pretty fey.Thanks...
