Thanks Dreamlight,
I had a good teacher. ;)
Cool thing about this piece was it used the same lighting throughout.
I only moved the camera.
But on the final face reveal, the lighting was really bad. Heavy shadows all across the face,
But boosting some of the bounce layers gave a cool, final effect that brought the face back up while keeping the feel of the picture.
A definite "wow" moment for me.
Well, I counted up the pennies and got it early (compared to my original plan), so here's my test scene.
The problem now will be deciding which variant of a render is the 'right' one
Nice job!
The cool scheme has a very cool, night feel to it.
I do not know if that makes it the 'right' one though. :) :P
@Jabba: I like them all...o_o However, I am more attracted to warm scenes so the Miami wins. It works with the palm trees...
I created this one for a PC challenge that is going on this week. Had a lot of trouble coming up with something I liked. I had tried linear point lights, ambient lights, preset light sets .. nothing really worked for me. So I thought I would give it a go with LDP-R.
I had to remove all the unseen walls and ceiling of the room to let the distant sun light in.
I positioned the sun directly in line with the TV. Had to turn the TV's shadow casting off to let the sunlight through to the kids.
Setup the DOF in the LDPR camera and let it go.
Once in Photoshop I was able to play with filters and levels per layer.
All in all it came out close to what I was going for. I have been trying 3delight rendering more and more (as opposed to LuxRender) and LDP-R is an excellent tool for this purpose. The flexibility it gives is very much worthwhile.
Hey, awesome, that's exactly the way it's meant to work. Of course, placing the sun has a vital role, since it also bounces off surfaces. Keep up the great work!

lol, thanks for posting. At least luxury problems beat non luxury problems... ;)
Wow, that's a very original way of using the sun light... ;) Turned out really cool! You can also stack your own lights on top of the LDP-R render. Once finished, simply remove every LDP-R components, BESIDES the LDP-R camera. Keep it still. Add an additional light, such as a point light from the TV (or spot light). Make another render. Once in PS, combine the LDP-R layers FIRST, then add your own layer on top of that. Adjust to taste, and run a filter.
Indeed! :) Just to be clear, the cool filter does not automatically make a night feel. Ippotamus carfully adjusted the layers, and made a unique look and feel, that mimicks night time. Although the main, "untouched" render should have distant fog included...
Nice job!

Yes, black background is good to have! :)
Light Dome PRO 1 / 2, there will not be an "update". Light Dome PRO-R replcaes them both. There was talk about a discount for LDP 1 / LDP2 owners, but I'm not running the sales process. Waiting on DAZ to get back to me on that one. Mood Master will not be updated, it will instead be part of Light Dome PRO-R. (And already is to an extent, since it has a fog effect and renders layers)
If LDP-R replaces LDP2, teach me how I set up the lighting myself from within the Plugin and can do Animation renders as fast with this version as I can with LDP2 and DAZ Studio 3 Advanced. That is the product I needed and wanted. This version is NOT a replacement in my eyes.
Animation will be added to LDP-R at a later stage. LDP-R will, if possible, get a built in mixer for all layers and effects.
Mech close up... Rendered in DAZ Studio 4.6 with Light Dome PRO-R.
For sure it is a lot of fun when using LDP-R. Below is a render of Stonemason's Urban Future 4 with Cold filter and some other
adjustments applied in Photoshop.
D'oh! I must've switched-off the fog layer by mistake when saving out the "untouched" version (which was not a separate render, but selective layers in PS).
Wish List -
* Mood Master stuff (rain etc), so that's already answered by you earlier in thread (will be an LDP-R upgrade in the future)
* An option built into LDP-R camera to make god rays e.g. volume camera ...not sure if this could actually be done with consistent results, but would sure be more convenient than setting up a separate volume camera .
After I installed LDP-R and LDP-R Photoshop it does not show me the LDP-R Actions in PS. I have still the default actions only.
Any hint?
Win7 64
Photoshop CS 2 (32)
I don't have the files in front of me right now, but there are some install actions you need to take within Photoshop.
Check the Instruction Manual that should be in the Readme directory. One of the first steps on the first page of the PDF details the Photoshop install process.
You have to open up the Actions pane, choose the Load New Action command, then navigate to the file that DIM installed during the "(Photoshop)" portion of the install.
Then all of the actions should appear.
Yeah, from the PDF...
Thank you, that's it. Shame on me... :-S
1. Open Photoshop, locate the Actions Window (if it's closed, open it with Windows →
Show Actions). Click on the small arrow at top right of the Actions Window and
choose Load Action. Choose the Dreamlight LDP-R.atn file and click on Load.

Hey no problem. I had the same issue / confusion as you.
I am not use to DAZ items coming with instructions / Readme's anymore. But someone on the thread inadvertently cued me in on it's existence.
It is not in the Folder.
It is not in the Folder.
If you installed with DIM, then you can check the location there.
Open DIM, go to the Installed pane. Click on the Light Dome Pro (Photoshop) entry and check the detail pane on the bottom.
If the detail pane isn't there, click the little "Show Details" check box.
Then click the bottom button that says "Installed Files." A new window should pop up with just that one file showing. If you click on the file, a window should open showing the directory where the file is.
The older version of octane render plugin causes the problem.
After updating the octane render plugin, LDP-R works correctly.
Thank you.
Love this, I did 3 renders with the 3 different filters and then blended the three filtered renders together, was just a quick play with it but its easy to use and I can see getting a lot of use from this, and its perfect for those times when I don't want to wait a long time to get a render done.
lol, np... Thanks for your feedback!

Wow, beautiful view! Thanks for posting...
Gotta love that car! GTA 4.6? ;) Thanks for posting...
