Great, thanks for posting! I think the prop itself, would need a smoothing angle tweak. Try selecting all surfaces, and bring down the smoothing angle to 34.
Damn, that hard-coded, eh? Thanks for the work-around. I'll doublecheck with DAZ, why this is happening, since I cannot replicate it on this end.
ok, I tried it...
I had a new error :
/data/Dreamlight/LightDomePRO_R/LDP-R Skydome/UV Sets/Dreamlight/Base/default.dsf
So I renamed my folders from :
data\Dreamlight\Light Dome PRO - R\LDP-R Skydome\UV Sets\Dreamlight\Base
to
data\Dreamlight\LightDomePRO_R\LDP-R Skydome\UV Sets\Dreamlight\Base
Now It's ok !
Thanks
On the to do list! :)
Yeah Surface Mask Creator for DS4.5 + would be nice Val...wink wink.Quick out of the box render.
Moving the opacity around on the "Sky" layer gave me some great control over the shadow strength.
Can not wait to sit down and do a proper piece with this.
ROFLOL glad you didn't say Soon. ;)
Second attempt, once I worked out the settings a little better. Also wanted to try and get a night time-esque look. Used the Miami filter to try and get a little more color into it.
Going back to revisit the previous attempt, using your suggestion.
EDIT: Might take a little longer. That was such a test that I didn't bother to save the project.
I had to try it o_o I'm a fan of one-click solutions...
I had the render settings as Daz Default with the Shading Rate at .50 instead of 1.00. I used the Medium Quality lights and the Sun light is directly overhead. It's a shame I couldn't get the sky to show through (without mucking around too much in PS) but it's still a nice effect if a bit glary. (Is glary a word? O_o) I also used the Remove Ambient just in case...
It's a bit grainy still and I've mucked around with a few settings trying to minimise it in PS. Otherwise, I LOVED the speed at which it rendered!! And it gave me the natural photorealistic look I would have tried to achieve in Luxrender without the horrible waiting time and dicking about.
Looking forward to playing with it! Hopefully that posted link fixes the .dsf Skydome issues when you load a material preset :)
Really looking forward to seeing what people do with it!
Edit: First one is the "original". The second is one I tweaked. Perhaps too dark...
Looking awesome! Yet, it's almost indoors... Thanks for posting! Yeah, you can play with the glare / glow effects when the filter is applied, and just adjust it to your taste.
LOL, hate that word! :)
Nice! :)
Nice scenery! Are you rendering using Deep Shadow Maps? They tend to produce very soft sky shadows... Raytraing would create more in-depth results...
Another super quickie - so fast! Even though it's tiny...
Cool! Damn, you're pushing this outdoor light set real hard indoors..! Amazing that it works so well indoors...
A quick question. Someone mentioned they got this to work with Photoshop Elements. Do you know if Elements supports all of the action features you use with Lightdome Pro R ?
P.S. can I use the skies I bought for Lightdome Pro 2 in Pro R?
P.P.S. Is there any prospect of an upgrade of Lightdome Pro 2 to work with Daz Studio 4.6?
I just had to post this one... It's an outdoor render mocked up to look like an indoor scene.
This was an old project that I dug up out of the archives. An image that I was never happy with, mostly because of the lighting. And I gave up trying to fix it.
The original end result had four different scene files, each with a different light rig to accent different areas. Each of these scenes took forever to render.
The new result is here. Almost all of the previous light rigs are removed, except for the candle Area Lights (which I think were Uber Lights).
All the new lighting is only Light Dome. And this one rendered in easily a quarter of the time that any of those previous scene files took.
Great, love the light in the face!
I actually don't know, since I don't have Elements. As for skies, yes you can. You can add any sky image you like, even your own skies. LDP2 will not be upgraded, however, there might be "built in" mixing features in LDP-R, making it more similar to LDP2.
A couple more LDP-R renders...
Does anyone know if you can use LDP-R for animation or export still images? Or is this strickly for photoshop?
One more, using the cold filter this time.
Duplicated the fog layer several times.
And I added just a touch of noise to this one: 2% opacity.
This is so addictive.
This is probably the most I've ever used PS. Ever.
So fun.
Ah.. I love that. The color in her is like a glimmer of hope in a dark, abandoned place.
Can confirm the actions work fine with elements (i use version 8). However id did install it a bit different than mentioned here in the thread.
-1- Copy the Dreamlight LDP-R.atn file to: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Locale\en_us\Workflow Panels\actions
-2- Delete: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Locale\en_us\MediaDatabase.db3
-3- Startup elements and wait for the rebuilding of the contents and effects
From there just following the instructions that come with LDP-R, to load the renders. You can run the action script with the action player.
- Select EDIT Guided (default on EDIT Full)
- Click on Automated Actions -> Action Player
- In step 1 select Deamlight LDP-R, now Step 2 shows all 4 actions (select LDP -R Combine first and play the action).
...could I get a text version of the Metadata edit as I am not that savvy at editing code manually. I would be more comfortable with simply copying and pasting the revised code section over the existing one.
Thank you.
I have Photoshop CS4. I can't get the action to work right - it seems to be placing the wrong renders on the various layers.
When I tried opening the layers all at once, in order from 0-6, PS window reordered them. So I opened them one at a time and this put them in proper order.
When I ran the the action, the layers were obviously mis-named, so I didn't try to do anything more. I am assuming that ambient layer should look like ambient and sunlight layer should look like sunlight, as shown in the video?
And the last step of the action was to try to close all the files - it asked me if I wanted to save the last one before closing.
Edit: For some reason a "mix" layer wasn't created. I guess that's why the script didn't work. Weird. I'll try again. Or do I create that layer manually?
Edit #2: OK, tried several more times. It does not create a "mix" layer. The manual says: "Click on 0_Fog.jpg. Next, hold down SHIFT and click on 7_mix.jpg." I have layers 0-6 and no 7.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Edit #3: I downloaded the file again and reinstalled. Still does not create "7_mix.jpg"
(I am using Windows 7 and DS 4.6.)
Actually all you need to do is:
1. Copy Blizzard.metadata.xml and rename it to Dreamlight LDP-R.metadata.xml
2. Edit Dreamlight LDP-R.metadata.xml and change Blizzard=Blizzard to LDP-R=Dreamlight LDP-R
I couldn't post the code in the forum message editor as it caused the post to not display. I hope this will do. I've edited my original post with this and removed the xml code image.
...ahh that's right. I had an issue like that occur when I was attempting to post a sample of HTML code in a response. Never seen that happen before, some kind of conflict with the forum software I imagine. Kind of makes the "Code" tags sort of useless.
If it is, give us feedback, then I wil buy it myself.
Thx
Dom
As of now, LDP-R is only for still images and will not work with animation.
Awesome view, well done!
