Here is a render I did not too long ago.
...no rendering here for a while with temps in the 90s and near 100° as well as no wind to circulate the air..
Not much better down here in Eugene. I manage a couple hours a day with one or the other computer, then the sun starts beating down on my western-facing office window and I shut things down. Took me three days just to set up this scene. Let The Beast render yesterday while I was off in a slightly cooler part of the house.
Asking Directions
(This was for Llola Lane's monthly render challenge. I posted it in her thread on the PFDLives forum as last month I only posted in the thread here on Daz. I'm hoping to do another for the Daz Edition of the challenge but, you know, the heat…!)
...don't have AC and system is 6 years old, not about to risk it, maybe later in the week when the temps fall back into the 80s.
Even been too hot in the evenings here, particularly with no breeze to stir the air. Maybe got about 3 hours sleep last night at best.
No AC here either. I have dual fan in the bedroom window, pulling air out during the day, pulling air in at night. (We've at least had cooler nights, so far.) Got it at Costco a few years back. It's surprising how much it helps, especially at night.
Ceiling fans and oscillating fans are your friend
I have a ceiling fan that I got at Loewes or Home Depot don't recall which, that just plugs into a wall plug and can be hung like a hanging lamp just no light on it
It's also weather proof for use outdoors on the patio or in a gazebo or pergola
Star Trek Romance
ID Please.
I bloody despise summer with a white-hot passion!... Hell, it's so hot that my tap water's warmth is a little on the hot side, yet in winter it's ice cavern cold; at least I can take hour-long showers in the summer, though! I would pick up a window unit from the pawn shop, assuming your apt has windows.
Summer here in Harlingen Texas and I can brew a cup of tea straight from the cold water tap
Doesn't get cold even in winter only cool
Oh I didn't say it was a good cup of tea just that it's hot enough to brew a cup
Territorial
Gahh, yeah, that's too hot, but I suppose it's a dry heat which is miles better than a blazing sauna that is the southeastern US!
This is an outstanding use of characters!
Not unless you consider having water dripping off the roof from the morning dew and the grass soaking wet until noon or better dry
The average humidity for this month is at 90%
Right now at 9 AM it's 87 but the feels like istemp is 101 wind is 1-3 mph
Thank you
It took a day or so
Bloody hell! Yeah, give me Seattle/Vancouver summers then!... Scratch that, give me fall/winter!
On topic, so I don't derail the thread; here's an early beastie that I rendered via 3Delight!
Playing around with https://www.daz3d.com/urban-living_KindredArts again, and a couple of dial-spun G8 characters. I'm happy with the boy, but the girl did not render as well as I expected. Added a Wind Node for his dForce clothes.
I recently took a 3Delight portrait of mine and converted it to Iray. The Iray version uses Rim Light Rig Iray while the 3Delight version uses Reflective Radiance for 3DL. Click on the thumbnails for a larger version.

@dracorn "I recently took a 3Delight portrait of mine and converted it to Iray"
The Iray conversion looks really great. Overall, well done composition and lighting.
Here's a couple of studio shots of FWSA Stacie (Rendo) with the Attitude dress (https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-attitude-dress-for-genesis-8-females , https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-attitude-dress-kawaii-textures). Bblythe Hair (https://www.daz3d.com/bblythe-hair-for-genesis-8-females) . Lighting is Sveva's Iray Intensity Lights at Rendo. The HDRI Is Environment Pink and the light set is 16 (IIRC).
Quick renders, not a lot of setup fiddling, no postwork.
The Apple
...now I like this.
It looks amazing. Which hdri, background or light set is this?
Thanks
another one for me - loving my new 1080ti, getting lots done!
My version of John Coffey and Mr. Jingles from the Green Mile by Steven King
..that's really nice. Did you also use Angenessis for the skin texture details?
Temps same here in Los Angeles. I have eight fans going throughout my apartment. Two in the bathroom because all my makeup was melting! But I have a view of five city palm trees outside my bedroom window so with all the fans blowing, playing ocean nature sounds, and spraying a little coconut scented fragrance, I can pretend I'm on a tropical island LOL. (My rendering computer is in the bedroom.)
Anyway, test render of Toon Boy who is picking up a bit of breeze skateboarding,,,
No, but I used Altern8 also a postwork tonal contrast that tends to pull details out and it was a cavas so it had a lot of details to pull.
Edit to add - I also had to use a photo for the mouse becasue I couln't find a realistic 3D one.
...nice.
If I tried that at my age I'd be in traction (though at least in an air conditioned hospital room). Used to skateboard as a kid, long before the "trick" boards became all the rage. Still remember metal wheels that caught just about every crack in the pavement (we had one blacktop street in the neighbourhood on a hill that became our favourite run as it was nice and smooth). When clay wheels were introduced, that was the "bomb".
Yeah really been rough here as this isn't usually normal for us. Today a smog alert was issued for the next several days on top of the unbearable heat along with warnings for seniors (like myself) and those with respiratory matters so had to close the windows (which means even less airflow) as when I woke up this morning my eyes were stinging and I still have a scratchy throat.
