Other than the dForce threat pinned at the top of the Commons, is there somewhere else in the Forums that has a/some dForce threads?  I don't know what I'm doing, and I can't find the dForce conent that is supposedly installed.

Thanks

I have a thead over in the Art Studio for dForce, dForce, dWeight and dWardrobe. Chronicles of.... Here are some of the links I have posted so I can aways find them:

There are a couple of basics to using dForce. You need to have OpenCL installed for dForce to work, version 1.2, I believe. If you have an Nvidia card, the latest drivers will have support for OpenCL. You can also download and install recent drivers for your CPU, if you'd like. At least one or the other, CPU or GPU, needs to support this.

Once you've installed the dForce Starter Essentials, you need to reload the menus by running the "Update and Merge Menus" script. Be aware, however, it may mess with your custom scripts. I think it now preserves what is there, but early on it did not. Once you've run the script, you will have access to dForce menu items in a number of the menus.

To simulate an object, it needs to have the dForce modifier applied. Select the objeck in the Scene tab, click on the Scene Menu, scroll down to Edit->Geometry->[dForce options] The option you will use most often will be Add dForce Modifier: Dynamic, (or something like that. Doing this from memory!)

If you have any specific questions, need help, whatever, please feel free to post in my Art Studio thread. I and several others will be happy to do what we can to help you.

Thank you!  I'll take a look at all your links.  I'm on a Mac and I don't have an Nvidia card, but I tried the first drape with 2 primitives and it seemed to work, so maybe I'll be alright?

It looks like you got the basics from what you show.

The fact you can do any draping at all indicates you have the OpenCL installed, as well as the dForce Starter Essentials, the "basics" as RGcincy said. You should still run the script, Update and Merge Menus, if you haven't already. There are several places you can access the dForce modifiers you'll need to add to an object to simulate. (Before I ran the script, the only place I found those was in the pane menu when I was in the Simulate Settings pane.) There are also the Fan node and weight map node you can access via the Create menu, and it's been so long, I really don't know if you have to run the script for them to show up in the menu or not.

Here's a thread I created recently. It isn't as detailed as some of the others but it does go through the process of setting up weight maps, which can be awfully useful for controlling how dForce works on an item. And most of the other threads allude to it with helpful things like "why not just paint a weight map?" but no real info on how to do it. So I wrote it down for myself and others, in the context of trying to get hair to work in dForce.
