I like the setup it is simple and uncluttered with plenty of space to add on if needed, looking forward to seeing more of this design.

Thanks! I can't promise it anytime soon, but I will share it when I get it done.

Cool that will be awesome! I love the idea of a small size scout vehicle, whenever you get a chance I would love to hear what you are thinking on the design. No pictures needed, but no rush on that.

We'll its all done on my side, now I ship off the Bridge to get concerted to a figure and the walls movable for the camera .

    nice work!

Now that I have a new computer, I want to teach myself modeling.

This is an idea I have for the bridge of a smaller science/scout vessel that I'd like to make a reality. The turbolift door and conference/ready room door flank the front viewer screen.

The outer stations and captain's chair are one step up.

Looks like a nice design. What era are you thinking? Also, what modeler do you plan to use?

current TNG, but a bit brighter and less military looking.

I have Hexagon, was going to try and learn that.

All right, people kept telling me to install DSON, that it's the future.
I installed it. I went to Windows, then to addons and checked DSON Importer.
Nothing has come on the screen.
Is there any kind of Readme - or by some chance, a manual for this?

I've done everything they say to do and the content is noit visable. It's in the Poser pro runtime in a DAZ folder. I've added the folder as a second Runtime. But the content is not showing up.

The folks over at the DSON forum finally told me about a third file- something I knew nothing about till now. The content's showing up now, but I'm still wrestling with it. Now it's wanting another runtime folder "Outside the Program folder"...

Hexagon is my own modeler of choice, I have access to an old version of Modo too but I'm just too used to Hexagon. Save frequently, the incremental save feature is nice for keeping sequential versions in case you need to go back. I'm no master modeler but I understand the basics well enough, if you need any tips I'll try to help as best I can. geekatplay.com is a good place to get lots of free Hexagon tutorials by Gary Miller (in the Tutorials section look for the "Projects Based" ones, those cover a lot of territory and Gary Miller was a very good, easy going instructor. Just watch out for n-gons because that's the one area where I'll criticise him, he left them a lot and that's bad news in Poser/DAZ).

Regarding the idea of a less military looking TNG era bridge, if you said TNG movies anything post DS9 I could envision what you're thinking but a less militaristic looking TNG is hard for me to imagine given how the Enterprise D bridge with it's earth tone decor, nice even lighting, comfy leather seats and wood trim didn't really shout "ready for battle!" to me. Still, it's all relative. After all the original design for ST:TMP was also supposed to be non-miltary in nature and there is concept art which had semicircular sofas and chairs shaped like the bottom half of an egg that you sink into. The sketch made it look like the lobby of a "groovy" 70s dorm or something, just needed a disco ball to complete the look. I guess they figured that took the idea too far and it got a more traditional trek look for filming. Anyway will be interesting to see what direction you take with it.

    Thanks grinch2901, I appreciate it.

I want to make the consoles, display and control panels look like the standard TNG style. For the overall design aesthetic, I'm thinking "white clean lab" meets "luxury vehicle". I'd like it to have material zones so that someone could change the wall colors, floor colors, etc, to meet their own needs.

In what way do you want to change the size of it? Physically? Just parent everything to the base (most pieces should be parented already), then scale the base up or down, and the parented pieces will match it. If you want to change the units of measure, that's something you probably need to do in the settings for your application - the model doesn't really have any embedded units of measure.

That was built to use the lightwave import preset in DAZ Studio (1 unit = 1 meter). If you are using DAZ Studio, just import using the lightwave import option and it will come in correct. If you are importing into Poser, I guess it doesn't work that way. When I originally made this (one of my first ever models) I didnt have poser so I never tested it there.

Honestly I just tried to get it into Poser and it's a mess. Actually I think back in the day mdbruffy did a quick poser import test for me back than and somehow got it to work but I just tried and couldn't. This model is way too high poly for what it is, and it seems as if I left some n-gons too. It was one of my first models and I didn't really know what I was doing then. I really can't recommend using it frankly. In fact I'm embarrassed a bit at this one and am likely going to pull it down now that I see how poor it is.

That said, I'd like to offer to recreate something similar for you, but better (lower poly, cleaner geometry) and properly set up for Poser use as a prop if you like. This was intended to be a fairly simple model representing a transition period between the NX class and the Constitution class and so it has a fairly simple, stripped down look to it. If you do want me to do an improved remake, I think I could have it done by the end of the weekend since I have tomorrow off and can dedicate a couple of hours to it. That is if you can wait that long. Let me know.

For me, it's Daz. And, yea, I'd like that bridge you are working on. :D

If you ever take requests, a bridge like the Stargazer or that of the Hatheway would kick butt, too. :D

Spent a little time rebuilding that pre-TOS bridge I built (badly) some years ago. The intent is to blend some TOS elements with those from "Enterprise" so there will be LCD style monitors and keyboards but also blinky lights and buttons. Also I want some piping, cables, junction boxes and other "primative" items to give it a less streamlined/polished look than TOS had (i.e older). This is missing those greebles but shows the basic structure I'm going with. Chairs are just placeholders but I want to have minimalist chairs like on TOS, but different shape. Still hoping to have it released this weekend.

It's an image that has been posted all over the place ... haven't found 'the source' yet ... but it's the interior of a car.

Hey, ho - new thread! :)

I figured I'd drop in and post a heads-up - I've been working on a new ship, something of a follow-up to the Crossbow-class. The modeling is, I hope ( :) ), complete; now I need to finish up the UV-mapping and then create all the texture maps. The story behind this is that the ship is actually a mirror-universe design, from the Terran Empire, which slipped through the barrier and then was captured by a Starfleet vessel; that explains some of the ... eccentricities ... of the design - it has nothing to do with the OS Romulan ship design, but its designers were of a similar mindset when it came to architecture and abilities. Now, it's a diplomatic support vessel for missions that carry the potential for ... confrontations (along with the 2 copies built by Starfleet).

    (larger image on deviantArt)

Already commented on your DA, but I really love this ship.

I think a few of the things we are lacking are unique designs such as these and civilian ships as well. You've provided us with three excellent designs (this included) for which we are very grateful.

Opinons please. The TMP Engineering. Converted from 3dMax to obj. Once imported into Poser Pro, I had to increase the scale to 4500% to get it to fit the characters.
First question: Does the scale look okay?
Second question: Does the Plasma in the warp core look okay? I had to add that- there was nothing there before.

Most of the textures that came with this were geared toward the dilithum chamber- which I haven't got to yet. What texture colors there were for the rest of the set didn't look right to me, so I gathered screen caps from Trek Core and took color samples. This revealed the fact that whoever built this, combined the corridor textures with the wall textures in Engineering. I can't even shut this corridor down and replace it with mine without shutting down half of Engineering. So, I guess Engineering is going to have it's own color scheme.
