  • I missed the gift card sale yesterday. crying I had a $200 gift card and a new item in my cart and a new item but fell asleep before I checked out. Woke up just a little after DAZ midnight only to find the cost had gone back up to full price and had to dump the cart.  My fault but I missed out on a $30 savings. I sure hope there will be another good gift card sale before March Madness.

I was spoiled by the November and December discounts; I only spent $5.37 here last month...

You're probably not the only person spending less. Today's the third time in the past week that the featured artist store base discount has been just 30% instead of the usual 40%. Seems like they've decided the discounts have been too generous. The problem though with training people to expect a certain level of discount, then cutting it back, is that people see the new prices and think to themselves, "30%?, 45%?... Pfff.. no thanks".

I remember when they were usually 50% off, then in January the following year, Daz started making 40% the typical discount.

Notice you can bump today's 30% up to 45% if you buy a new release, Any new release, not just the items in today's sale.

I wish I hadn't bought so much stuff during sales and release on speculation, over the past 3-1/2 years. I have a virtual ton of things in my runtime I've never used. And if I hadn't spent so much on "great deals," just purchased what I needed when I needed it, I'd have been able to afford products I really want that I now have to wishlist. I'm not sure which addiction is stronger, creating 3D art, or shopping at Daz.

I am grateful there hasn't been a lot of stuff released that I "have to have" right away. It gives my finances a much needed break. (Having said that, tomorrow's new releases will probably make my eyes bug out and my jaw drop. That's happened before. It's as if Daz read my post and then tailored the next promo to my weaknesses! lol)

I'm kicking myself for not using my PC PA coupon on January 1st; I hate to use it so early in the month, but I ended up not using it at all.  I was spoiled by the November and December discounts; I only spent $5.37 here last month...

I think of the coupons as just increasing my budget by $12, and therefore, not important which item(s) I use them on. In the beginning, I spent hours at the end of a month, looking for something to use the coupons on. (And back then, I didn't realize the PlatClub coupon worked on DO new releases.) I came to the conclusion I was wasting time on the Daz site I could be using for working with my 3D products, and since then, I use the coupons as early in the month as my cart qualifies. Most of the time, that's within the first couple of days, though occasionally, it's as late as mid-month. But I don't spend time looking for qualifying items... and I always get to use my coupons.

But looking at your January spend, I don't think my method would have worked for you last month! How did you manage to resist? I envy you that iron will.

I used both of my January coupons in the dying hours of December, since they become available a few hours before the month actually starts. I concluded that with the end of year sales, plus the loyality discount combined, the discounts through January where unlikely be better than those, and apart from the glich sale a few days ago, I was more or less correct.

LOL, can totally relate. I did really well on some commercial 3D projects to where I have enough extra income to get what I want, when I want, but I have been really eyeing purchases on how I might and how often I would use them and this has really curbed my "oh look, a new toy" spending. There hasn't been much lately I was interested in getting, but I did splurge a bit today.

As for march, I have never seen that much that has thrilled me during the MM sales, but I guess we'll see this year.

I'm surprised at how much my spending has dropped
off since DAZ sales went to "All G8, All the Time!".
    Since I don't use G8.
So far I've found two new environments that work fine
in Studio 4.10 but not in 4.9x. If this is a trend, I might
not be buying much in the future, as well.
    Since I don't use 4.10, either.
Ah, well, I have pretty much everything I need now anyway.

I didn't buy a single thing in the whole of january, until that glitch the other night. And that's still the ONLY purchase I made in teh entire month. I'm pretty sure I'll get through Feb with no purchases too. I'm making a concerted effort to decrease my spending here.

Not buying? Not going to happen. Just look at all these sparkling new toys! Yes, I know I'm addicted ...

I've spent WAAAAAY too much here and unless I really need something right away, I have only been getting things at 70% off or more or if a bundle is something I can use and triggers free items I don't already have. A LOT goes in my wishlist, but they will have to wait until they are affordable. If I won the lottery, I'd probably buy the whole rest of the store that I don't already have though... Just when I think I have everything I could possibly want or use, I'm tempted by new stuff or even old stuff I've never noticed before. Buying 3D assets really can be an addiction!

I've been a PC member here for ten years now, so there really isn't anything that I need.  I still haven't embraced Genesis 8 (which technically speaking is less different from Genesis 3 than Vicky 4.2 was from 4.0), and I only buy new non PC items if buying them will get me a substanital discount on Wishlisted items.  While my needs aren't great, there are some new Items I want, and so they go on the Wishlist until they are cheaper.  I have a couple of wishlisted Vicky 3 items that have never gotten down to what I've been willing to pay for them, which has of course decreased over the years as I use V3 less.

I treat my monthly DO coupon like cash, but the PA coupon generally goes towards a combination of products, and so it's more complicated to use for me, being the cheap rascal that I am.  I view it as taking cash off the individual items in the combo...

PS; the first February I was in the PC, there was an awesome February Sale with lots of previous generation (Gen 3 back then) items at PC prices eack week. It must not have been sucessful for DAZ, as there hasn't been one since.

PPS; in January I did spend over $30 at other Stores, as DAZ isn't the only game in town..

I was looking over the sales page and saw the extra 10% for PC+ members:

    New Releases 30% OFF
PC+ Members get an EXTRA 10% OFF*
(this is in additon to the standard PC+ discount)

    Nice.

But be aware, the additional 10% is added in the cart. It does not show up on the sales page.

And it's 10% off the 30% off, so it's 37, not 40. Still kinda nice, but not in the 'omg I must buy NOW' range.

in passing by today my eyes fell again on the banner with the lady in undergarments. i hadn't given it any attention since i'm not interested.

and i had to laugh. the 2 main words, isolated, are not especially funny. but i guess you realize "lingerie" probably comes from the french - or is the same word. and "sale", which means "discount" in english, means "dirty, unclean" in french. so... this banner is one very unlucky mix of those words, since for any french speaking person, they see "lingerie sale" = "dirty lingerie". ooops. laugh

(hope this wasn't inappropriate, this wasn't my intention)

  • I received an ATI mail stating that https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-content-creation-with-blender was at 79% off : 14,48$. Since I checked, between the page and the cart, it went from everything from 26 to 34, never down to 14, changing at least 3 times. What the heck is happening there ?

New flash sales starting, and something most likely glitched with the prices.

  • Too bad, at 14 I wouldn't have hesitated :)

Is there a way to tell when an item will lose its 30% off? I've got the dForce Master - Cloth Simulation Presets in my cart, but I'd like to wait as long as possible to see what other stuff comes down the pipe. How can I tell when the 30% will fall off and this will enter full-price purgatory?

  • cherpenbeckcherpenbeck Posts: 1,417

Indie film maker new releases don't give right discount to artists older items. Should be 50% with new items, is just 40%.

New items keep their intro discount for 14 days. They remain "new" and therefore do not qualify for other discounts, (with the rare exception,) until they have been in the store over 60 days.

If you have the Daz Deals plugin, the Read Me link next to the SKU on the product page will go to the Daz document page for that product, (except for bundles. Then you have to go to the document page for one of the peoducts in the bundle.) If not, the url is:

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/23037/start

where you replace 23037 with the SKU for the product you're checking. For example, here is a link to the Cloth Simulation product's document page:

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/50109 /start

I've actually got the first one bookmarked. It's for Michael 7, which tells you pretty much how long I've had the bookmark! lol

Thank you! I was just surfing through the forums looking for references.  Yep, Ati's link to the Read Me is fast and the Read Me has the date right there. Thank you again!

I spend over $160 in Jan alone. I don't know what I'm doing. Why am I buying these stuff?

I don't even use them. Now I think I need a new video card for Iray rendering but graphics card prices are crazy because of cryptocurrency miners.

  • I was so underwhelmed by the Build Your Own Sci-fi Bundle. Was excited when I saw the banner, but only a page of models even with my purchases unhidden. And none of them things I need or want.

  • New flash sale for G2 and G3, lots of stuff I want in it.  But most of it doesn't have the discounts attached yet.

  • I was wondering about that..guess I'll wait a few..

  • AtiAti Posts: 9,193

It's the DO items only, that are supposed to be discounted.

  • bytescapesbytescapes Posts: 1,916

It looks as if there's a glitch in the 'Genesis 3' flash sale. If you click the banner link, you get a page showing the same content as in the Genesis 2 flash sale.

I believe that the correct link should be this one, rather than the one currently shown.
