you may want to clarify that reply, make sure he knows that it only applies to the first part of his post. Well I presume you only meant it to apply to the first part.

...you'd like our system, five lines (including one to the airport) with a sixth in the planning stage. One of the lines travels through a 3 mile long tunnel with one of the deepest underground stations in the world.
...+1
...and for the better.
Well it made Tjohn laugh
Back in the '80s and '90s when I lived in the Washington DC area there was always talk of extending the Metro system out to Dulles airport (25 miles NW of WashDC, outside the "Beltway") but it never happened. But now I've learned that they have finally got (or are building) that extension. That would have been great for me when I lived out it Reston, VA I could have walked to the station. But back when I lived there I had to drive several miles to Falls Church, VA inside the beltway to try to find a parking spot in the always too small parking areas for the Metro. But if doing the Washington DC downtown shopping or Smithsonian museum scene, Metro is the best way to go. Quiet, clean and efficient.
Except for the 4th of July ceremonies on The Mall. Speaking from experience, you don't want to wait until the fireworks are over before heading to the Metro station. You want to leave about half-way through the fireworks to reach the Metro station well before the crowd gets there.
Otherwise you'll have to wait for 3 or 4 (or more) trains to get aboard. And another trick is to head for the station a couple blocks off the Mall, not the one right on The Mall (but make sure you get on a train that is heading TOWARD the mall, not coming FROM it. Duh!!! The situation isn't as bad as Tokyo during rush hour but close.
Feel better soonest!!!
Complaint: Still lingering after-effects from some of the hottest Thai food I've ever eaten. Argh, won't do that again.
Non-complaint - going to bbq some rump roast today!!! And it's a lovely day outside., 55f and sunny.
I am still not dead. Oops I mean I am okay.

Not yet but might soon. That is as soon as I finish my ice coffee and lunch.
Hi I am Miss Bad Wolf.
They make cookies out of reindeer?!?!?!?!?? OMGOMGOMG
@LG: Wow, small world! I lived in Reston for a while, Winterthur as I recall. Had some good times. Also lived in Vienna, I graduated from Oakton High in '77.
Never went anywhere near downtown DC on the 4th, my wife at the time went once and the stories she told kept me away. I miss really good light rail service, there's one light rail line in Austin and it mainlu runs during commute hours and shuts down early, and is closed completely on Sundays. I heat they want to extend it and improve open times, but there's squabbling from the cities they want to run to. Idiots... :-|
sets out plate o cookies
I expect a bag of coal this year. The fireplace is blocked so Santa will have to use the dog door! And I bet the sleigh falls off the roof.

...some of the trains here during the commute times are almost getting to Tokyo like crowding (we don't have transit system personnel hired to push people on the trains...yet). People here have taken to using transit instead of driving (thanks in part to many narrow streets in the central neighbourhoods, little if any free parking in the city centre, only three roads across the West Hills to the burbs on the west side, and for some the cost of keeping a roof over your head that takes most of your income).
Just saw the first "3700 series" bus on Friday so another new batch of buses has apparently arrived. Big plans for next year to improve service system wide and lay the final plans for the proposed southwest LRT line. Transit may be the only way to get around the inner area of the city in a few years as they are expecting big population gains here, mostly through migration.
Morning. Only one more Friday until Christmas. Haven’t had much sleep since it was two Fridays until Christmas, feeling a bit weird. My complain is all the effort might have been for nothing, temp is around 90 already and feels like a storm is blowing in so not going to get everything finished anyway - the second Indy disaster this year ! My second complaint is am too tired to care :)
Tell me there is a Santa Claus please...
...
Actually, the story comes from a legend of a demon who goes into people houses and steals children, a horrifying Danish myth, but over the ages the demons name got changed somehow and now he delivers instead of steals.
The demons name was 'Satan Claws'...!
Nope as they have been out at that location for weeks now. I did get a snowman cookie though.
Home internet, phone and TV are out. I could care more about a duck than that. I have my cell phone active and can use that as a hotspot. Just need to watch battery levels. As long as it is back up by Sunday I do not care. I do not watch TV which does not include Netflix. I can watch Netflix as I have unlimited 3g hotspot.
