The best way to clear up problems with the CMS is usually to uninstall it from the Start menu in Windows, then reinstall DS4.5 which will install the latest version of CMS as well, and that should cure any problems.

That wont erase my categories right?

It shouldn't, but I always back them up, just in case. If you're using DS4.5, go to the Content Library, options menu (the rectangle with horizontal lines in the upper corner) > Content DB Maintenance > Export User Data.

how do i seperately install it

You can't, it installs as part of the main application, but, if it is there, the main installer wont replace it, that is why you need to uninstall it first, then when the main DS installer runs, it will install the latest copy of the CMS for you.

That is a fairly old version by now, the last stable version was 4.5.1.56, and you should try downloading and installing that one.

Make sure that you uninstall the CMS again before installing the main application.

What version are you running now? Help > About DAZ Studio.

Are you running AntiVirus software as well? You may need to list CMS as a trusted application or similar. You could try stopping the AV, and seeing if that is the problem, if so, you may be able to sort it out?

    Its 4.5.1.56
I tried after stopping antivirus but same problem

Most likely the culprit is a corrupt index. This is fixable without a lot of fuss.

    Do do so:
    Close DAZ Studio.
    Stop the CMS service.
Go to the CMS databases folder.
    Rename "ContentDB.ind" to "ContentDB.ind.bak"
    Restart the CMS service.
    Wait 30 seconds.
Start DAZ Studio. Be *patient*. The index will be rebuilt when DS is launched and will delay the "apparent" startup of DS.
Once DS has finished starting, check things out and make sure things are stable.

By default it is in the ProgramData folder. Go to your "Run line" and enter %ProgramData%. Then look in the DAZ 3D\Content Management Service\databases\ folder.

well i restarted daz but there is no rebuilt.

well i restarted daz but there is no rebuilt.
Then that is not where your CMS Database resides and you're looking at an old copy.

It would've rebuilt it before the DS interface even appeared.

Let me think for a moment as to how we'll find your database.

  • edited December 1969

Actually it has already created a contentDB.ind after i renamed first one

Okay, about our only hope here is to trace the actual CMS service. Please be very careful.

Go to start > run and enter "services.msc"
In the resultant window find the "DAZ Content Management Service" listing.
    Right click and select "Properties"
On the general tab, there should be a listing for "path to executable"
Find that path in Windows Explorer.
In that path is a file named "ContentManagementServer.ini"
    Open this file in Notepad.
Look for the line that says "SystemCatalog=" and note the path to the right of the "=" sign. This is where your database resides.
Please post the results of that path here and we can continue.

    SystemCatalog=C:\ProgramData\DAZ 3D\Content Management Service\databases

    Oh! Okay, that's good.

That means it *IS* in the default location. Did you end up with two copies of DS running?

  • edited December 1969

Not talking about installed, was talking about up and running. Thats' OK though. Just close all copies that are running. Wait 1 minute. Launch DS again (1 copy). Does everything look OK?

  • edited December 1969

No there is nothing in categoreis and products
