On the other hand, it leaves a few more dollars for new releases. I hope we see some dForce compliant clothing for the guys soon. The clothing for the ladies is lovely, and more like what women might wear in real life, but my men are in dire need of more clothing options!

Well, there probably isn't much that dForce can do with skimpwear bikini armour (and not to offend anyone, as I have nothing against the fantasy skimpwear stuff also).  However, to showcase dForce, there needs to be a bit more fabric, so perhaps this means that for a while at lest, we will see more real clothing.  The new dForce clothes do look good, and I did buy the dForce gored dress https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/prod/47091/ - firstly because I liked it, and secondly so I would have  one known good dForce item to play with before I try older clothing and massive poly plane primitives.  So it should stick where it should, and flow where it should smiley

LOL... I bought the Free Spirit Outfit for the same reason. I really like the Gored Dress, but Free Spirit is a DO and therefore a smaller investment. But there are several dForce dresses in my wishlist now. If only I weren't on a finite budget.

  • Regarding todays Cayley bundle from 3D Universe. Haven't there been any orange banners/extra discounts for owners of previous versions in the past? Own quite a lot of those figure-hair-clothing-bundles and think there was something. But it might also not be provided due to the PC+ sale?

LOL! Yep, got the Fiona Dress for the same reason! Figured it didn't hurt to work with and study something that worked, in addition to the Bardot Outfit.

@Rod- I checked and I'm not seeing anything in my messages for 3DUniverse.

  • I think the PAs should all be aware...

There are some great looking outfits using DForce available for G8F. I'm not going to buy them, or any G8F clothes or hair, unless it supports G3F too.

    Same goes for G8M.

I don't know what goes into making content cross compatible with both figures, but if you don't, you're absolutely limiting your market of potential consumers, by at LEAST one. I suspect it is quite a bit more than that, though.

Adding to what @donovancolbert said, I'd like to reiterate what I've said before: I'll be far more likely to purchase a product that supports both G3F And G8F, and/or both G3M and G8M. When I'm deciding between two products, the one with multi-generational support will win every time.

I use G8 some of the time, (though I refuse to invest in it as heavily as I did with G3,) and will buy wardrobe and hair products for G8 occasionally, in part because I can use SY's method to use them on G3. But if you do that bit of work for me, you're the vendor I'm going to support most often, even if on the day of release I don't buy your multi-generational product. Just as I have stopped buying from vendors whose products disappointed me, I will buy your new releases and back catalog products because you listened to the customer base and put in the extra bit of work to support the generations we prefer to use.

Seconded. I was very slow to begin collecting G3 stuff when it first came out, because I had a lot of G2 stuff already and I just didn't need it much. I'm being even slower picking up on the new G8 stuff; partly for the same reason, partly because I just can't afford it right now.

    i'm there, too...

unless it's a really exceptional outfit that fills a gap in my g3 content, and worth finagling.

i do like a few of the new g8 features a lot, but basically...well, it'll probably be a couple of years before i can possibly have a toolbox for g8 figures that matches the capabilities of my already-purchased toolbox for g3. and some of my favorites--the genX plugin, for instance--seem unlikely to ever have g8 counterparts.

the positive side of this is, a product that does support both generations immediately has my attention.  :)

Sucks to be a PA around here at times, LOL

  • I definitely am more likely to get a product with more flexibility, such as having clothes or morphs for multiple generations.

That said, in the case of dForce clothing specifically, isn't is relatively straightforward to use on G3 if you are going to be using the dynamic capabilities?

Enter a website where the main-page banner says up to 80% off 1000s of items in Daily Spotlight, but when you clock through, the copy reads,

    "Items 50% off"

    and...

"TODAY ONLY, get an EXTRA 50% off  Daily Spotlight ITems with purchase of any Debut or Still New Release above..."

And on the same ad reads...

Extra 20% Off with purchase of any debute or Still New Release *or* 50% OFF without purchase.

You've now entered a place where numbers twist and distort and lose their meaning... you can't tell if the maximum discount is up to 80%, only 50%, 100%, or 120%... and if you could figure it out, it isn't any of those...

You've entered the Daz Math Zone.

The way I'm reading it... it should be 50% plus an additional 50% with ends up being 25% (you get half off the half off price...) so, 75% total discount at that point... then an extra 20% off that...

Which, who knows... maybe does equal up to 80% off.

This is particularly funny since most of the Featured DO in my cart are coming up at 88% off.  Hey, I'm not complaining about that.

  • NorthOf45NorthOf45 Posts: 5,691

That's what it's supposed to be. Right now, however, the extra 20% on Featured DO's with a Debut ot Still New in the cart isn't working, but the extra 50% is.

I just put a Spotlight item in my cart and it seems to have the expected discount - possibly even a bit more. Can you give a specific example we can check?

Well, 0.5 * 0.5 * 0.8 = 0.2, which is 80% off. Even better, being DAZ Originals, there's already another 40% off to begin with, so that makes it 88% off.

    Another way to look at it is that you're starting at 70% off (as PC+ members), so 0.3 * 0.5 * 0.8 = 0.12 or 88% off.

Someone else had questioned the discount yesterday, and I did the math, as shown in the quote above. I was getting this myself the last couple of days (88% off), and the qualifications have not changed today, so I expect the same.

    I made up a sample cart with a Debut, a Still New, a Spotlight item and a Newly PC+ item. The Newly PC+ gets 60% i.s.o. 30%, as expected, but the Spotlight item is only 50% off the listed price (20.99 * 0.5 = 10.49). Should be 10.49 * 0.8 = 8.40

Is it still wrong? it's showing $8.40 if I add it to my cart just now.

  • NorthOf45NorthOf45 Posts: 5,691

Logged out, and back in. Removed from cart and added again, still at 10.49. Actually 10.50, now. Going in the wrong direction...cheeky

  • It's definitely working for me now (it was actually wrong when I posted previously, but masked by something else) and daz has confirmed that it is right so I'm not sure why you aren't seeing the correct price (if you still aren't).

Oh, I just realized that it's not the total that should be 8.40, just the teacup fairy bundle. Okay, that's 8.40ish. So that seems correct here. Sorry for the confusion, it's late for me... :)

Almost there. I can get Teacup Fairy bundle down to 8.40 with TWO Debut and/or Still New items in the cart. That wasn't happening before, but I wanted to show that neither one was triggering it. I can work with this.

  • Lucas 8 seems to be a bargain right now at $38.87. The sale with Elija 7, Brodie 6 and David 5 was no longer promoted but it still worked for me.

For the "Friends of the PC+ club" sale, I think that's every PA in there - but I noticed that one of Stonemason's isn't discounting on the page, the "Lights adn Cameras for Urban Future 5". It doesn't have a "new" tag on it - can that be checked pleased?

Sasrching for Urban Future brings up a lot of items not in the sale, as does looking at Blondie's store from the link on the promo page. I don't know if the lists hould be seelctive and isn't or if a bunch of items are missing - asking now.

Edit: actually, the non-discounted item I added did look to go down by around 46% in my cart (which woudl be right) while those showing 47% already add just a small extra discount. I'm not sure what is going on but it's been flagged up.
