This looks great! I eventually need to start playing in the designer program. I'd picked it up for the Sims awhile back and never did anything with it.
I don't remember seeing any for the Valiant. Definitely worth a try though. I'd only played with it on Courageous.
Pretty much my thoughts. I liked that it focused on the characters. I actually cared about them and they didn't fall back on the fact these were characters we'd known forever. They had to work at it. It was really well done on that aspect of it.
I vaguely remember seeing you work on this before. It still looks great. I can easily picture this being something they threw together for Phase II if it'd gone through as a TV show.
Looks great! Heh, I noticed the one character glaring at the food dispenser. I think he's had tribble-on-rye "chicken" sandwiches once too often.
That looks very impressive
Well, I was thinking of trying Wear Them All to see if I could port Couragous onto M4, dunno if it'll work though.
Thanks, guys! That guy is actually Captain Patterson Sans goatee. I just wanted someone to make sure the scale was right. Btw the last picture was used as a texture. I used the clear glass shader on all the windows of the ship, and used cubes with interior pictures on them as textures and put them inside where the windows are.
I've finished my Liberty class bridge and her textures so I can move on to the exterior and other decks. Woot!
Ignore the beam issues in that last pic. I've fixed that in the mesh.

Arcelyn dropped into the starboard bridge chair. They'd been waiting for 6 hours for the new computer core to sync with the new bridge stations and all they kept getting from the consoles and the Engineers was 'Please Stand By'. Well, she'd had enough of standing. When she volunteered for this she didn't think she'd be babysitting a bridge with nothing going on for days on end. Emily had warned her that it'd be boring, and come to think of it so had Challenger's Chief Engineer, Janelle Westhauer. Arcelyn had done pretty well for the first few days but now there was nothing left to clean and nothing out of place in the entirety of the bridge space. Slumping she rested her head on her hand and stared at the floor hoping for it to erupt in a sea of sparks so at least something was going on.
"Bored?" asked Lisbeth.
"And the science officer wins a point for not using her tricorder to figure that one out," muttered Arcelyn.
"You know, we all tried to warn you," smirked Lisbeth.
"Oh my gods, I know!"
Lisbeth leaned forward as she noticed the displays suddenly starting to change.
"Looks like your long ordeal as bridge babysitter is over, Arc. There be communication here!" she mocked Arcelyn.
"Don't play with me right now," muttered Arcelyn.
"I'm not kidding, Arc. Take a look for yourself," said Lisbeth.
Arcelyn turned in her chair to look at the consoles coming up one by one. She allowed herself the brief celebratory moment. They were still going to have to test each of the systems to make sure they were working correctly, but this was a huge step up from having nothing to do.
Lisbeth moved to the comms and got a hold of Emily who was working down in the computer core. "You owe me a week's worth of the late shift"
Emily's voice came through clear over the Engineering station's internal comms. "She did the fist thing didn't she?"
"You'll eventually learn not to take that bet, Emily. Today is not that day," smirked Lisbeth.
Emily sounded annoyed and defeated. "And here I thought the six hours I'd spent down here goofing off would have worn her down. Oh well, back to aligning the core with the ship's network ports."
Arcelyn stared annoyed at her friend. "You know this bridge isnt' that big. I can hear you two."

Here's The first ride of the Condor's captain, James Patterson...The Kelvin class USS Dauntless.
Anybody know if there are any free models of TOS era Andorian ships? I might be needing one for the fancomic...
So, here's renders of three cast members of Flight Of The Condor with hybrid uniforms. Need the sleeve ranks, but I found that the person on sharecg who created these for V4 did the textures such that they convert very easily to Valiant. Also have the RDUDA tmp pins on them. Since The story is NOT a straight bridge between TOS and TMP, but is an alternate continuity that is a blend of TMP and Phase II, I really am thinking of just going with these.
For your uniform simplicity.
In the Motion Picture, the only uniform that had a star fleet emblem pinned on was Kirk's at the begining of the movie. All of the ship duty uniforms are embroidered patches sewn dirctly onto the uniform. And in the TMP era they still use the rank braid on the sleves
Since you will still need to customize the texture to add the ranks, it might be nice to use star flieet embroiderd emblems with the department icon on them.
I knew the emblems were embroidered EXCEPT I had never noticed Kirk's was a pin. Hmm. I will have to see if I can find pictures for that. That would also remove the issue of the pins phasing through the chest with alot of poses, requiring tweaking the position on the chest. Thanks for the Idea!
Btw, anybody think the jumpsuit variants could work for junior officers? I am not certain I want to use them, but I dunno.
Scotty and Decker are both shown on screen wearing the jupsuit in the movie.
Yeah, but my point is I'd only use them, if at all, for junior officers. Remember, the story isn't strictly canon, but a Phase II-ish alt continuity. I don't care for the jumpsuits, myself. But I would like a uniform difference between junior and senior officers.
I really like the two tone colors on these instead of going with just a straight up one shot color. It's a nice visual look.
I was gonnago with one solid color, but everyone likes the slight tone change like you do, so I'm gonna keep it that way. If I can get the chance tonight I wanna get the ranks on the sleeves and emblems as JamesJab suggested. Glad you like em!
So... I was messing around with morphing Stephanie 8's face to show how well her face shape works for making unique characters.

After completing the face shape and rendering her, I had a thought. She would make a pretty good Vulcan, and here she is with pointy ears and green subsurface/transmitted colors.
Tossed her on my bridge set and as soon as my first test render started drawing itterations I stopped it and toned down the green subsurface and transmitted color.

So, here she is looking much more Star Fleet standing on my Enterprise A bridge with blue accent coloring.
Started playing with Marvelous Designer 7's new topstitch feature.
OOOOOOH! Me Wants!!
She looks right at home on that bridge. Looks amazing.
Just a couple of renders on the bridge.

Awesome work! :)
Thanks much!
I may have started trying to map out where the windows would be on the Liberty Class saucer section and then accidently spent all day building out her science lab on deck 3.
So now I have a science lab set for the Liberty class. :P I'll have a few more renders so you can see the lab stations a bit better tomorrow.
I've been working on conforming figure for Genesis 8 Male and I thought I'd show it off. I also have a version for Genesis 2 Male and Genesis 3 Male. I will say that doing the UVMapping was the easy part. Trying get the actual material to match G8M was a pain. I had to hand edit some material pose files in order to get all the settings to transfer over to the figure. For some reason copying and pasting from G8M to the figure would not transfer everything over. I don't remember having such issues with G2M or G3M...
No idea why it did that to you but I like the results! Nice work.
*****************************
Work continues on the Liberty. She has windows now in the saucer with little rooms behind each one. 15 windows in all in the saucer. 3 of them are in the crew's mess hall.
Also, a wip render of the Liberty along side the Galaxy class I've toyed with in the past to give a better sense of scale. I meant it when I said she was a smaller ship.
I've been kicking around some Genesis 3 characters here and there and was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on using them over V4/M4/Genesis? I've primarily been using them but I've recently become enamored with some of the options for Genesis 3. Not moving away from the classics mind you, but willing to give the relatively new models a spin. I'm not sold on Genesis 8 just yet although the Gen 8 I did try did render up pretty well, they just don't have as many options yet.
I have been using the Genesis 3 models for my work lately and they have been working well for me. Redid my Tahira Character using G3F .
She looks great!
I've been thinking about carrying my morphs over from V4 and Genesis to G3, but I'm not happy with my initial test of the morph loader or the UV transfer. The only one that's worked pretty well was the external morph creator using Face Gen but that imports it into G3 natively. hrmmm.. There's an idea. :)
I was just over at Foundation3D looking around and found this thread - http://www.foundation3d.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20280
Its either going to inspire you or scare you but that is some beautiful work.
I dont know if this was posted yet either but the U.S.S. Shenzhou - https://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/89612 - is available in Blend format
