The Serena The Succubus G3F Ready to Wear (and nearly ready to wear) Thread

Soooo, I've been dealing with an interesting dilemma...
There are several 'demon wing' products available on the Daz site. They all look very nice, but my personal fave is these:
https://www.daz3d.com/dark-fantasy-add-ons-for-genesis-3-female-s

There's a G2F version of this product as well (link below), which look very similar (it appears pretty much identical but I don't have the product), but to be clear I'm working with the product above in my renders. The G3F version has a transparent 'Succubus Shell' that gets added, so I'm guessing that is where the difference lies.
https://www.daz3d.com/succubus-add-ons
Anyways, what sets the demon wings in these products apart from other 'demon wing' products is the fact that the wing membrane attaches to the full length of the back, which can make it problematic when you are looking for clothing for them.
Sure, you can mess around with transparency maps and custom morphs/D-Formers to try to move stuff around, but it'd be nice to have a list of 'ready to wear products (and perhaps some nearly ready to wear ones).
Soooo, introducing Serena The Succubus!

Serena is a 'Vanilla G3F gal, with Jeanne skin, eyes, and makeup options. I'm not looking to win any rendering contests here, I just want to illustrate which dresses/tops/outfits and other clothes work best with these wings. As to why she has 'normal' skin, she's a Succubus/Human hybrid. Her horns are some basic horns I found somewhere (I wanted small ones) but those really aren't relevant to to this discussion. She is also sporting Aldora Hair.
The background is a simple photoshop gradient, but I haven't done any other post work in my renders (again, not trying to win any render contests here). Most of these are partial Iray renders (say 50% or so) 'cuz my laptop is slow and I am impatient...
I'm using the Surfer Guy/Day At The Beach lights in my renders at default, and Serena is currently facing in the 'default' G3F direction.
The only pose changes I've made to the 'baseline' G3F model involve the arms and head, with the shoulders and everything below them at the 'default pose. The tail has been moved up slightly to clear the beltline (I did this by unparenting it and attaching it to the hip directly, then using y translate, z translate, and x rotate to locate the tail root up a little higher). I wrapped the right wing around her right arm/shoulder just for fun, but the left wing is at the 'default' pose.
Now, on to the wardrobe choices you see here. Serena is sporting the Sunny Swimsuit HD for G2F by Elele and is also wearing the Proxy Pants for G3F from the Proxy Outfit Collection. by Aeon Soul. The Proxy top and Proxy Jacket won't work out of the box (they blend/appear underneath the wings) - the jacket has some possibilities with morphs maybe - but these pants should be representative of most pants out there - any pants that aren't 'hi cut' should work. The swimsuit shows pretty welll what you'll be looking for as far as 'Safe' choices that will clear the wings with no issues. The G2F clothes have been autofitted, and in this instance I didn't have any issues.
Similarly, similar to pants most panties should work without issues, as long as they aren't 'hi cut' in the back, so I'm not going to focus on them in this thread. I'm primarily focusing on on the various tops/dresses, and how they interface with these particular wings.
Next is an example of what I mean by 'nearly ready to wear'.

Continuing on with the Swimwear theme, here's a modified version of the Cross Monkini for G2F by Nikisatez, which will NOT work out of the box. I'm showing it here so that you can see some possibilities as far as moving the strings at the back above the wing roots using custom created morphs or whatever. Unfortunately, the strings got a little squiggly as I attempted to move them above the wings using the D-Former tool, so they look a little messy above the wing roots. I'm trying to clean this up in Hexagon, but it's taking some effort (my laptop and Hexagon have a love hate relationship). This will give you some idea of some 'nearly there' options if you don't mind doing a little work with morphs or some other 3d program.
The 'wide strap section' which is extending diagonally from the breast cup was a happy morph accident as I was trying to position the morph field. I like the look, so I kept it. If Nikisatez wants to 'borrow' that idea for an updated version for Succubuses using these wings in a product expansion, that'd be awesome! Or maybe I could release some sort of product that does this (based on her product) but for now I'm mainly trying to show the possibilities here.

Real quick, I want to show off the Virgin Killer sweater that I found for free on another website (Rendo?). It was a free download (you will need to have registered on their site to get it) and it works real well in this instance. Serena is also wearing the (modified) Cross Monokini mentioned above in this render because the sweater shows off a little too much butt crack, and I'm trying to keep this SFW. This is only a partial Iray render (3% or something), but shows off how the sweater drapes below the wings well enough.
Finally, here's another example of real close but needs a little bit of work with DFormers...

Here you see the Cherry Blossom Dress for G2F by Sarza and Xena. I haven't done any modifications here, so you can see how 'close' this is to being usable with the Default wings. The shoulder areas should be able to be pushed out using a Dformer fairly easily, to fully clear the wing roots (I tried fitting the dress to the wings, that didn't help, but I may have done that wrong). The Waist area can be deformed below the wing membrane base (I did this with another outfit) but it requires a bit more deforming. I suppose a transparency knockout could work with the waist area base as well, but that'd take a bit of work to set up properly using the base textures and some photoshop magic. This should help give you an idea of what to look for as far as open back dresses and such.
The Louisiana Dress for V4, etc by Bobbie25 is in a similar boat to the Cherry Blossom dress in that you need to 'nudge' the back of the waistline down a bit to clear the wings. The top part of the Louisiana Dress clears with no issues whatsoever (it just wraps around the neck). I'll show this off in a later post once I do a proper render with Serena.
That's it for now. I'll try to get a better handle on attaching pics, so may edit this post to better utilize the pics if I can upsize them properly, but I'll add more 'Serena the Succubus ready to wear' wardrobe options as I put them together in later posts. I have a rather large handful of clothing options to work through thanks to a few recent sales, especially that G2F sale...
I did grab a couple of G2F bodysuits (these include options to 'hide' parts of the bodysuit). I'll show off what I come up with bodysuit wise in a future render, If I can work out how to 'uncover' the right back regions without exposing the breasts in the process.
If anyone else has any product suggestions or wants to show off their 'Serena the Succubus - Ready To Wear' product, and wants to share renders of how they look, feel free to add to this thread. Serena is pretty easy to put together in Daz, here's a recap Serena's 'stats': in case you want to use her,
- G3F base, no additional morphs applied. No pose changes below the shoulders, or to the torso please, so we can see how the wardrobe looks in the default pose (i.e. arms and neck/head only).
- Jeanne Skin, Eyes, Makeup
- Aldora Hair (this hair is V4, etc, but worked OK for me nonetheless). Or use any hair you like if you don't have Aldora hair, the hair isn't that important.
- Succubus/Demon Wings from the Dark Fantasy Addons or from the Succubus addons package if you don't have the first one.
- The Tail from the same package, moved up slightly (unparent, then drag it to the hip subdivision (not pelvis) so you can move it up between the wing membrane bases to provide more clearance.
- I used some basic horns I found somewhere, use what you like (they aren't really imortant here)
So, which other items of clothing (dresses/tops/outfit) are 'Serena The Succubus Approved?' Stay tuned!

Comments
Would the Sexy Skinz work? They're in Fast Grab right now. I have some of them and can run a few tests.
I'm not acquainted with that product directly, but I am working with a bodysuit at the moment. Specifically, the G-Suit for G2F. First the bad news...
Many of the 'fast opacity hide' zones for torso areas (particularly the breasts) will not help you out here unless you want transparency all the way around the torso in that area. Many of the torso zones wrap around the body.
Now the good news! By using the Cutout Opacity slider under surfaces, you can 'hide' areas of a bodysuit fairly easily with some knockouts. I'll post in more detail shortly, but here's how it looks (see attachment below). I inset a reduced size portion of the Bodysuit T53 texture which I modified with the knockouts (note the black areas in the middle) to achieve the open areas for the wings and incorporated a hole for the tail. If you have an image editing program, adding these knockouts to the Cutout texture is pretty easy, for bodysuits or 'full back' clothing at least.
You add the cutout texture to the Cutout Opacity texture dropdown (similar to how you change out other textures using the surfaces tab), or replace the existing one (you'll probably want to modify the existing one depending on what it's doing), then set to 100% (if not 100% already) and Voila!
Other full bodysuits are set up similarly to the G Suit (Ultra bodysuit, etc.) so this should be fairly straightforward for those products as well.
Edit: Oh, that product! Yeah, I was thinking about it as well. I'm guessing there's a coutout opacity texture to achieve the lace effect, so you should be able to modify that to make room for the wings using photoshop, etc.. Might be a bit tricky though, as you'll need to 'link up' any 'doily/lace edges' that get trimmed out by the wing punchout. I don't have that product yet, but it's in my wish list and I may grab it shortly.
Other than the opacity map, you can always select any clothing item, go to the geometry editor, select the polys you want to make transparent (around the wings and tail), create a new material zone for them and then turn down the opacity
Only problem with this approach is that not all pieces of clothing have nice poly-divisions, so it might end up being an odd-looking hole?
My suggestion would be to use mCasual's tailor's chalk freebie, draw a circle/sphere where the tail is, and make a custom transmap... :)
OK Llynara!
So, I now own that Sexy Skinz product. Keep in mind that I'm rather new to Daz, and I haven't really messed with the whole Skinz product line thing with Daz much yet.
As far as I can tell, the Skinz textures blend with the base texture to create the effect, creating a temporary texture. I don't understand the whole 'blending textures' thing yet (i.e. how to do it, I've tried it but I'm probably doing it wrong).
SOOOO, what I did is create a G3F geometry Shell to avoid the whole 'blending thing' and to create a new clothing layer. (Menu Create > New Geometry Shell. I then applied Sexy Skinz BS10 White to the shell instead of directly to G3F. This adds a 50% white sheen to most body areas, except where the 'flowery parts' are. I then dropped the opacity for all of the unused areas to 0% for the areas I didn't want to have the shell showing (fingernails, eyes, face, legs, etc).
Note that the buttocks have a 50% sheen (they are part of the torso material area in the Surfaces tab), and that the exposed skin in the back area is darker than other skin areas. I'm GUESSING I could fix this with a Cutout Opacity map, but I haven't got that far yet.
Unfortunately, since this product uses a 'modified' Torso map, the back area is split in half (left and right edges of the torso map area of the textures), so modifying the 'back lace edges' to adjust where the lacing shows up on the various texture maps (there are a few) looks to be a bit of a chore, especially with the multiple maps. It'd require a bit of work. It might be easier to DForm the geometry shell, but then it'll get wrinkly probably. I may mess with this more later, but for now this'll give you an idea of one approach to take, I'm sure others (with more experience with Skinz) may have easier solutions, and I welcome them to chime in...
It might be easier to export it into another modeling program (Poser etc), but that's beyond my capabilities. I have Blender, but I strongly dislike that program, it's too non-intuitive for me - this is why I do my stuff in Daz now. Again, anyone that can suggest a quick and easy solution, feel free to chime in.
I like the flowery lace bits, and it'd be nice to 'move them' outwards away from the wing and wing membrane roots. I'll be interested to see if anyone comes up with an easy fix for this...
Anyways, back to rendering more 'Ready to Wear' stuff! I have a few items in the cue the moment...
As to why I'm such a fan about using cutout opacity, see this render...
I painted in the panties (more SFW that way) in Photoshop. I will probably wrinkle the skirt a bit with some DFormers (it's a bit rigid at the moment), but this shows off how you can easily do lace textures using a custom Cutout Opacity map. I borrowed the leafy texture from some generic texture set for the opacity map, and converted it to grayscale and cropped it into the skirt texture I made for the cutout opacity. The skirt texture was round/2 half moons, so I used multiple layers and a few perspective transforms to 'link' the texture elements together as they wrapped around the skirt). As for the bra, I think I simply applied an appropriate unmodified square texture map as a cutout map, but I don't have the file open at the moment.
I wanted the leafy parts to be a bit transparent. The skirt is actually 2 skirts (duplicate nodes), one at a lower opacity level and no cutout texture applied, to achieve the sheer/see trhough effect for the leaves.
Anyways, back to the grindstone!
Interesting suggestions. I'm still learning, and am willing to learn new things. Thanks!
I found a few dresses in my runtime that come close.
Precocious for G3F
Hellenic for G3F
Seasons for G3F
Antoinette for G2F
Corvidae for G2F
A couple other bits that seem to work:
Darkwoods Heroine for G2F (just the shoulder piece)
Lorelei Mertail for G2F (the top)
Eagle-Guard Armor for G3F (parts of it)
Thanks thistledownsname! I don't think I have any of those in my collection currently, so feel free to share renders if you are so inclined.
I hit a 'good patch' with a few dresses (click pics to enlarge).
First off, the Diana Outfit for G2F by Amaranth and Shox-Design
I managed to dial in this dress by adjusting the hip area scale, lowering the y axis and bumping the Z axis back a bit, then working upwards scaling/bending each area a bit if the dress was submerging in that area. This dress has a few morph sliders that help dial it in a bit better as well.
Next up, the Jessica Dress for G2F by Bobbie25 and bucketload3d.
This one worked out of the box with no tweaks. There's an issue with the skin poking through the right glove (and I scaled up the left glove a bit to hide some skin poking through), but that can be fixed easily enough, using the usual methods to adjust gloves when they don't want to cooperate.
Here's the Sherwood LongDress, part of the Sherwood Huntress Outfit for G2F by Bobbie25 and DarkStarBurning
Again, with some scaling and a downward y adjustment at the hip, and a slight X adjustment, this mostly dialed it in, again, working upwards and bending/scaling as needed in regeions where skin poked through. This one had a couple of morphs as well that helped 'align' things.
Finally, here's the Ulysses Dress for G2F by Nikisatez
This one took a bit more on the scaling/y and z adjustments at the hip, again working upwards bending/scaling as needed, I didn't want to mess with my poses but the right wing 'folded' pose needs a slight adjustment to clear the dress. As to whether it's 'appropriate' for a Succubus is another story, but I think there are some definite retexturing possibilities with this dress in this context (going darker/playing up the goth angle a bit).
All four of these worked with existing adjustments/dials, no special morphs needed. These are fast/partial renders, but show off well enough how the dresses look.
I did load the Helena Dress for G2F by Nikisatez and Shox-Design onto Serena, but it'll require upward adjustment of the 'x' straps in the back using D-Formers or some other method to clear the wing roots.
That's it for now. I'll pick this up again soon.
ulyses dress looks beautiful
i've never tried the DS dynamic clothes, could you make a skirt collide with the tail?
Alieta Spryte Outfit for Genesis 3 Female(s)
https://www.daz3d.com/alieta-spryte-outfit-for-genesis-3-female-s
The tail is making an impression on the skirt in the render I did. What is it that you are looking for pose wise?
I like how the tail is sneaking underneath the upper skirt layer there. Adjusting the upper layer downward a bit it clear the wings just right might be a small challenge, but it'd be so worth it. That outfit is in my wishlist, so when the time is right I may grab it
.
Plus, I like the 'elvish' metallic loops on the top. I have several similar 'metallic frame overlay' style products, I'll show them off in due course.
I only have the G2F version of the succubus set, so unfortunately when I autofit it to G3F it looses all its rigging. But here's a go at it. I'm using Fit Control to make them fit.
Seasons
Precoious
Antoinette
Corvidae
The Hellenic Himation and Peplos need a lot of work to squeeze between the wings.
Lorelei looks rather uncomfortable
Arki's Eagle Set has to turn off the Gloves, but the rest works. Sort of. The plates right at the top of the wings will need more work than Fit Control can do.
Darkwoods heroine needs the same work on the wing joints that Eagle does.
Nice set of renders there thistledownsname!
I think it's awesome to have Genesis 2 Females also showcased in this conversation too, so feel free to represent! It's good that you have the G2F wings. This thread is mainly about showng off good clothing options for gals sporting these wings, not any particular gal!
My purpose for using Serena here was to create a 'vanilla' character to show off the baseline situation, and give people an idea of how much work (if any) would be needed to use a particular outfit with the wings, and suggested ways to get the clothing to 'fit' properly. The farther away we get from a 'baseline' character, the more issues one should expect, but it's good to have a baseline.
Plus Serena the Succubus just kind of rolls off the tongue, and makes for a good thread title.
If someone has some other popular character (The Girl, Aiko 7, etc) I think that's fine too, but G3F and G2F are kind of the baseline these days (everyone gets these with Daz) so having strong representation of the baseline characters is good.
I'm loving all the interest in this, and I'm seeing some fun outfits that I missed before along the way (as others are too)! I think there must be litterally tens of thousands of items available for Daz at this point, at least it seems like it... I'm seeing a lot of stuff for the first time in the Poser sale for example (not that I've been doing Daz that long).
Having someone show off a G2F gal too is very helpful. Keep up the good work!
Keep 'em coming Guys! I'll show off the Lorelai outfit in one of my next batches (this outfit wasn't really in much doubt, but it's pretty and I like it).
Most of the outfits used a combination of "Rear Down" and "Rear Loosen" to accomdate the tail. Some (particularly Hellenic) needed other adjstments. I can send the Fit Control parameters to anyone who wants them. (I'd post them, but it's just a bunch of number for each outfit)
I'm about to grab wear them all for a3, v3, etc for G3 females (needed a new release for some other discounts). Hopefully this does what I think it does without too much work. I do have the Clothes Converter program, but I've only tried to use it a couple of times.
It converts clothing very well! A warning about fitting: auto-fitting has better results with conformal clothing, so some older products -- especially dresses -- will produce distortions. Smoothing can take away *some* of it, but it may be severe enough that smoothing may not work.
That reminds me, I was supposed to post a tutorial for fitting-distortion fixes last week... crunch time got in the way o_o
I don't have it, but the Althea Outfit just hit fastgrab, and looks like it would work perfectly.
I was just about to post about that fastgrab. I saw that one about 2 minutes after I submitted my order (yet another sale...). Fortunately, it looks like none of the discounts I was using apply to that one, but it's on my wishlist now. I agree, fit wise it looks about perfect.
OK, so I did some more renders last night, but I was really tired after trying to figure out which items from the Poser sale I wanted (I grabbed a lot...)
First up, the Lorella outfit for Genesis by DemonicaEvilus and Silver
I said that this one was never in doubt, but in practice I did have to do a few adjustments after doing the autofit thing, mainly involving conforming the outfit to the torso better. I like this outfit a lot, as it has several mix and match options texture wise (the bra area can be different from the belly area, for example, and the gems have separate texture maps). The textures here are a bit flat and glossy, but there are several ways to address that under the surfaces tab (bump maps, glossyness, etc).
This brings up an interesting point. By going to the submenu for the Parameters (Right Click over the properties tab) and selecting "Show Hidden Properties', a WHOLE LOT of new sliders will show up, including individual x, y, and z scaling options for each body section. The Lorella outfit already has a fair number of morphs, but used in combination with some scaling, you can dial in the fit much better. I should also note that I needed to nudge this outfit down a bit in the waist area to clear the wings.
This brings up another interesting point. So far, a LOT of the outfits I've been working with just barely sneak under the bottom root edge of the wing membrane. It might save you a bit of headache by nudging up the lower edge of the wing membrane root a couple of inches (I haven't tried this) via y-scaling or some other approach.. This wouldn't affect the overall look of the wing roots (they would still look essentially the same), but may save you some work with a lot of outfits.
Next up, the Elven Princess for G3F by Bluebird3D and DirtyFairy
No fit issues whatsoever with this outfit. I like how the black version of the texture maps included with this product match the black and gray of the wings here.
Finally, here is Mistseeker for V4 by Lilflame
Again, due to autofit issues I ended up doing a lot of scaling and positioning adjustments by again using the 'hidden' morphs by checking the 'show hidden properties' under Parameters. The panty and the dress are different items, and each required some adjustments (I had to adjust the panty upwards for a better fit, and dropped it's y-scaling a bit as well). The panty is strapless (just wraps around the crotch and butt crease), and the back actually points into the tail, but with some creative positioning you can 'bury' the pointy part under the skin (like I did). This one could use a bit of work with glossiness and bump mapping as well, but you get the idea of how it looks here.
That's it for now!
Yeah, it was pretty cool seeing Aiko 3, etc. appearing in my autofit dropdown now. Somehow, I've missed Victoria 4, etc., that's apparently provided in yet another product, which isn't on sale at the moment. It's in my wishlist for the next time it goes on sale...
In the meantime I"ve been autofitting a lot of outfits using the Genesis 2 Female option, and it seems to work pretty well (although not perfectly in some cases).
Still plugging away at this.
First off, I decided to do some pose bending and such with one of the outfits, to see how it would react with my changes. As I mentioned before, I had the tail attached to the hip grouping, then moved it up using the Y axis. This caused some issues, but I found if I attached it to the lower abdomen instead, it seems to move properly when you bend the lower abdomen. The tail normally attaches below the beltline, hence why I move it up (since a lot of pants, panties, etc. 'cut off' at the top of the hip area and a lot of other clothing utilizes this seam as well for belts, etc.
OK on to the outfits, and things I've done.
Here is the Mini Dress for Victoria 7/G3F by Hongyu
I initially tried adusting this by knocking out the base of the back region using a cutout opacity template. It looked OK, but there are some drape creases and such, and by 'punching out' the base, the dress was hugging Serena's skin a bit too closely. So I went the D-Former route instead, scaling one D-Former field to pull the dress down appropriately, and a second D-Form field to adjust the middle of the 'sweep' of the dress beween the breasts and the wings. The dress creases along the edge look better here, but I'd probably play with the Dformers a bit to soften the angle change of the botttom fold. This dress has quite a few fun morph options...
Next up, we have the B25 Club Dress for V4, etc. by Bobbie25 and Sarza
Here I used a cutout opacity template to adjust the sweep of the top to clear the wings. The belt and skirt are goverened by separate texture regions, but they seem to be right where they need to be. I did need to do some sizing adjustments to this outfit using the supplied morphs. I'd also tweak the texutres a bit to get rid of the 'plastic' look, but you get the idea here.
Finally, here's the Hot Pants Outfit for G2F by Nikisatez and Sarza
Here I did a combination of using Cutout Opacity to cut out about half of the shirt back that was crossing underneath the wing roots, and then used a morph to push the shirt up over the wing roots, attempting to create a 'fold' pattern above the wing roots. Again, I'd probably play around with the morphs a bit more to get a better look, but you get the idea here. The Hot Pants might need to be nudged down just slightly, but if you nudge the lower root of the wing membrane up slightly (an inch or two) as a permanent adjustment (as I suggested in my last post), this will eliminate conflicts with a few of the outfits I've detailed above.
So, short form, all three of these outfits will require a bit of work, but I think that they look nice in this context, hence it may be worth the extra effort. Especially in the case of Hongyu's Mini Dress. Hongyu also has a full length dress that appears to have a lower 'sweep', but it wasn't on sale so I haven't grabbed it yet.
I have a LOT of outfits to sort through at this point. I'll keep posting suggestions as I get time. I look forward to seeing more from you guys as well!
been trying to share more but had trouble sharing Barbarian Queen works well btw and there's a dress got does too I'll share when can
The Evening Style Dress for V4/A4 by Bobbie 25 works nicely, and looks nice to boot!
It required a bit of work to dial in the fit on Serena here (fun with scaling and nudging), but that's what morph sliders are for.
Here's the main bit ofthe Molten Outfit for G2F by Nikisatez and Arien
I needed to use a morph slider to slide the 'bra strap' down (it crosses under the wings 4-6 inches avove the panties). I used a D-Former to pull it down and into the body (so it wouldn't cross at the back), scaled the x up slightly, and positioned it so that it looks like it attaches to the panty/belt area (instead of looking like it's burrowing inside the body).
That's it for the moment.
Ok, this one was mentioned above, just showing it off since I have it:
The Althea Outfit for G3F by LilFlame and Sveva
Confirming that this one works out of the box with no adjustments needed.
Next up, here's one that can be modified pretty easily by including wing cutouts on the back.
The Cheyenne Outfit for V4 by Ravenhair
This one takes some morphing using the existing sliders to get a good initial fit. I had some fun and scaled down the y axis on the thighs considerably, to create the short dress (it's normally extends down to the ankles). As the back is a 'full back', it's pretty easy to use a cutout opacity template to punch out a hole in the back for the wings. I went ahead and did the same for the front as well, to show some additional skin above the breasts. I'm missing a couple of the accessories for this outfit it looks like, but you get the idea here.
Finally, this one requires a bit of work:
A3 X Style, Daz Originals
I don't have this top where it needs to be yet looks wise in the render, but you can see how it might work. Getting the straps to cross above the wings is doable, but using D-Formers things get distorted pretty quickly. You'd pobably want to try editing this in another program (Hexagon?). the skirt works pretty well, with maybe a slight adjustment downward and the usual adjust to fit using existing morph sliders. I've always liked the look of this outfit, and distortion issues aside I think it stands up pretty well as a G3F outfit! I'll probably try to get this one to look purdy using Hexagon at some point.
That's it for now.
