  • Just a sad observation. No matter how many things I buy out of my wish list, the list is always growing and never shrinking. :D

Take todays sale for example, many items from this sale are in my wish list but I should not be browsing these artists products because I only add more items and I can't buy them all.

Everyone's talking about March madness and I think I'll be broke before it even gets here! :D

So, today's sale takes you to 60%.  Any stacking out there to get farther?

Some DO items and some fastgrab items stack with the extra 20%.

Sweet. Thanks for the heads up. I picked up a couple of really nice sets. MortemVetus also has a freebie in there that qualifies as the third item.

If last MM is a predictor it is likeley that you get these prices or better multiple times over the next 4-6 weeks, So I'm sitting this out

Maybe. But most if not all of March Madness will be within the 30 Day return period. So, if it is cheaper during MM you can always request a price difference refund, or just purchase it again and return the earlier purchase.

  • It ... has ... begun !! [Enough said]

  • Hey MM Day 1, I'm not mad today. Where is steep discount? cool Make me mad indecision

Weird. 50% off is less than normal sales...

50% off on new releases is a little unusual.

50% off on new releases is a little unusual.

But you need to buy 2 to get that, 40% off new releases isn't that unusually anymore; its the problem with all the big sales we have had recently the discount needs to be very steep for it to look unusual.

    Greetings,

50% off new non-DAZ O releases (and ~66% off DAZ O new releases) is definitely more than recent sales, and the discounts are easier to get because all the items in all the featured artists' back catalog also count toward triggering the 50%.  Still, if the new releases aren't doing it for you, I can understand that it'd be an underwhelming start.  But remember that there's essentially 6 weeks of this to go.  Give it a chance; different days/weeks will appeal to different people.  Every day isn't going to wow everybody.

Myself, I'm kinda into the NY bundle... :-)

If you want more discounts, you have to get into the Punch Sale category, which enough people loudly and angrily panned for years... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • 50% off on new releases is a little unusual.

we had up to 66% on the new stuff last year and up to 60% in the catch up sales If I remember correctly

Very Boring so far... no Madness at all...

    It's Day 1 of ... uh March.

Every time everyone complains that the sale starts off underwhelming. 50% off new releases was about the same last year.

  • On the Products: The NY Lifestyle Bunle looks quite nice and fairly Priced.

Especially the Trading Floor Outfit looks based on the Promos like one of the best Suites I have seen so far.

If anyone of you bought it allready, could you put it on George or another massive character and post a render?

I looked it up in my Mail history:  Last year MM started on the 29th (leap year) From day one it was 50% + 10% Daily Mindblower + 10 % The Girl Pro Bundle Punchcard = 59,5 % on new items

Oh that's right it was 50+10, now it's 40+10 w/ purchase. No blowing of minds this time around either.

People did still complain though like in most sales and then the sale improved over time. MM also went for about 2 months last year, and it isn't even March yet, so there's plenty of time for more offers.

I think people forget though that these event sales tend to be more stable (in terms of stacking discounts) as opposed to the normal 3 day sales which can overlap into all sorts of savings chaos. Once used to taking advantage of all the criss crossing sales, a major sale event can look underwhelming in comparison, despite offering things (in MM case, new releases, generally) with offers you wouldn't normally see.

Either way I have to admit I have no personal investment in it because I'm not buying anything until there's something I really need put on sale.

I'll try to get my wishlist smaller. Besides, a new male outfit is welcome, especially if it seems to be well done like this one today.

    +1

  • So the question is, are the cost of THESE PARTICULAR items, on sale now, going TO IMPROVE?

If I see something I like - is it possible to get it for cheaper later in the month or are these itmes as low as it gets....?

And different items will be going on sale later in the month?

And...and...are there straight % sales like 60% off + 20% on whatever items we want? Or is it always going to be limited to certain vendors...

I for one am quite happy with the MM so far. I hadn't used both my PC+ coupons, had the Daz Original one left, and am quite pleased. But EVEN WITHOUT IT, how can anyone say that paying $6.98 for a $19.95 item is a mediocre sale? That is only paying 35% for the product! With two items in the cart, that item dropped down to a measley $4.53 when the code was applied.. The $28.95 was only $10.14, which dropped to $6.59 when split with the PC+ discount with one other item.

NOTHING wrong with this sale folks. Edit- but see post a few posts down. Not sure how this is calculating, but it isn't enough I don't think.

Last year was my first March Madness and I thought it was a lot of fun. The promo art was very entertaining too. Love all the creativity that goes into it.

This year, I think all the recent great sales are spoiling us. There have been so many!

Today there are a lot of beautiful new items out and the prices are pretty good. Think of all the work and time that goes into creating these. And they come with commercial usage licenses, which is a steal for anyone using 3D to do anything professionally. For hobbyists, yes it can feel a little steep at times, but there are much more expensive hobbies than this one. I'm probably beating a dead horse.

Anyhow, I wish I could afford some of today's new releases, but trying to wait till payday. Finally splurged on FaceGen and that really stretched the budget. Resistance really is futile!

Looking at my orders from last year, there was some deal going on February 25th where my overall discount was 90% off, but that was the RDNA merger sale (I need to empty my trash folder!laugh).  My looking over my March purchases, the overall discounts were about 65-75%.

The last half of March and all of April were an utter dud for me; I didn't buy anything from March 16th to May 8th....

I'm not sure what the pricing is doing. Let's look at what it did:

The Male Trading Floor Outfit was $6.98 (for a $19.95 item)  and I had two of the new things in the cart.  Two items trigger an additional 50%
It was priced at 8.38 and 58% off to start with.
Another 50% off the 8.38 would be 4.19, not 6.98

The $28.95 set was again already 58% off, priced at 12.16
50% off would make that 6.08 but it only went down to 10.14.

So not sure how this is working. You can't take 50% off the original price and call that a deal if it's already 58%, so I have to assume it's 50% off the beginning price which is the discounted 58% one. So mods, what is this supposed to be doing? It isn't taking 50% off the beginning price, or the original price- that would be MORE than the price it starts at!

(I bought two things from the sale, not the stores- I got the loft and the male business suit)

    @Novica:
    The buy two offer replaces the Base Rebate of 40% with 50% you can then deduct the 30% PC+ DO Rebate => 50% + (30% of 50% = 15% )  65% total => 6,98

  • Coincidentally I just pusblished Episode 2 of my Daz Buying guide Series

In this Episode i explain how rebates are calculated and the product life cycle here at DAZ

    https://youtu.be/xAtN3kvxsEo

@Barbult: This one is much shorter.

I would again be happy to get feedback!

Thanks for the explanation, at least you got it to work. But that rate wasn't applied- it started at 58%, not a base rate of 40%.  You can't "replace a bate rate" that wasn't in existence to start with. (Well, they did apparently, but that's not right IMO)

    58% is 40% -  (30% of 60% PC+ DO Rebate ) => 58%

Novica, it only started at 58% for you because you are a PC+ member - log out and you'll see it starts at 40% (i.e. $11.97) for a non-member and if a  non-member puts two items in the cart that one goes down to 50% (i.e. $9.98).

ETA: The "base rate" happens separately from the standard DAZ Originals 70% price for PC+ members, so you see 40% of that 70% or 50% of that 70%. For members the non-sale store price is $13.97 not $19.95, so you're getting the 40% or 50% off that.

ETA: Sorry Renomista, for the cross-post!

    Gotcha. Thanks MelanieL and Remonista!

Edit to add: I can see where people who are not PC+ members will be more disappointed in these sales- but that isn't Daz's fault if people aren't members. (and understandably, people's budgets differ and it can't be assumed everyone can participate in the Platinum Club. But that still isn't Daz's fault, they have had ridiculously low membership prices to try and assist.)

FYI- Fast Grab has changed and there are new freebies as well. Mostly textures.
