Yes I like Corbin too.
The Exclusive Offer was listed in Messages almost as soon as Lucian went up--I checked, because that's the only way I can afford all his yumminess.I'm really looking forward to seeing more renders of him. It appeals to me that he's 'interesting' because I've noticed that most of the considered-to-be-hot real life male stars tend toward 'funny-looking' and only become 'hot' once you see them in action, ranging from David Duchovney to Benedict Bandersnatch and Tom Hiddleston. Then again, I like 'interesting' female characters too.
Wow he looks unhappy! A shame, because I kinda like many of the clothes/hair in the bundle. I just can't get my head wrapped around that sour visage of the base figure though.
He really does, it's kind of ideal for so many possible renders. Surly brooding boys are totally for the win with some audiences!
I'm not seeing what Lucians theme is? Is he a vamp? A goth warrior? Aside from being release close to Lilith he doesn't seem to be her counterpart. He isn't attractive enough to be a seductive alternate to her either. His bundled items don't seem designed particularly for him. He seems a character bundled with a whole bunch of leftovers and forgive me we already have so many medieval warrior outfits I would love a decent pair of guy underwear.
I do wish they'd consider a different sculptor for the male characters. He's not nearly as well done as the female figures.
Well, judging from his art and characters, he's a cross between Jaime from Game of Thrones and Damon from Vampire Diaries, which makes his theme "bad boy as likely to kill you as kiss you," which certainly feels like an unplumbed niche. Given how much of that ultimately has to come from the narrative attached to the art, I think they did a really great job with the sculpt.
Oh, he'd definitely coming home with me! I'll put his cranky behind to work! I really like the Oscar HD character for him too. Reminds me of Orlando Bloom.
Well, look at Rune and Ivan: a young, vibrant Boudica with an aged, jaded brute. Two completely different types of characters with only their barbarian-warrior-themed content linking them together. At least Lucian here looks like Arabella's father, which would make Lilith her stepmother. XD
Actually, I have to ask, were Arabella, Lilith and Lucian done by the same person?
Lilith 7 is whatever you want her to be. At least Arabella 7 had the kind of emaciated-yet-pretty features which exemplify the vampiress aesthetic in Hollywood. That makes her more relevant for that kind of character. Plus, the paler, 'drained' skin options specifically designed for her. Those kind of things have definite visual implications for implying death.
Lilith 7 didn't have any of that. She could be any kind of character you want - and, in fact, was sold with the primary image of her looking like a warrior or goddess, not anything demonic-related. Although, the promotional images showing the unique combinations you could get with other characters, sold her for me. I liked the result which was shown when mixing her with Girl 7.
Lucian is the same. If anything, he looks like the typical 'brooding hero'. His chiselled features give off a heroic implication, not a villainous/predatory one. With that in mind, I'd actually wager he'd look better for a military-related theme, than anything fantasy-related.
The only thing he has in common with Lilith 7, is that the promotional image of him mixed with other characters is, weirdly, more interesting than the base figure, itself. I particularly like the one of him mixed with Ivan's morphs.
The only time a character is clearly meant to be an alternative gender counterpart, is when something about their physical features (or at least, their ethnicity) is similar enough that they could potentially be used as siblings in the same rendered scene, IMO. Two characters which happen to just come out around the same time aren't necessarily a set.
I do like the outfit which is based on those from the 'Blade' films! Of course, being a costume, that's completely incidental, because it just coincidentally happens to feature as one of the bundles (and most people aren't able to afford the bundles, which makes them largely irrelevant). I've been wanting a lengthy duster for ages. Someone finally made one, which means I'll be getting that costume, regardless. :)
Hah well no attaboys from me for releasing female warrior characters yet again. That is very boiler plate here at daz. Now it would've been innovative if rune was older and craggy and Ivan was the young hot one. But we already have tons of warriors in the store Leo and Gianni and mike all have outfits in that vein.
My first impression of the main promo picture is of the rich lord's illegitimate son that is overly angry at the world, takes it out on everyone around him, and you wish would just fall off his horse in the first act. lol He looks too young for my taste in some shots, and just unpleasantly surly in others. Sadly I just don't like him based on the promos, and I was looking forward to a new male.
Someone up at the top of the thread mentioned David. Bingo. I think he could be being smuggled in as David's replacement. He's certainly being pluged into the same "young adventurer" socket which was always traditionally David's primary turf. ("Traditional" being gen3. David 5 didn't seem to have a defined role -- although he did have rather a mean face.) Can Stephanie be far behind?
Adult, but younger than Michael (i.e., not a teen): check
Slighter build than Michael: check
Supporting content heavily weighted toward adventure themes: check
I do like pretty much all of the bundle (particularly the add-on morphs), even though all of the clothing tends to fall into the "another same" category. But they look nicely done in the promos.
Yes, kudos to DAZ for making the promo of the base character morph mixed with other base morphs a standard. We need to see that, and it makes the possibilities a lot more obvious from the get-go. (At least for a male release we don't have to beg for a promo that isn't buried in eyeliner.)
I guess he's got that Draco Malfoy/Jaime Lannister vibe (although he is not a celebrity lookalike for either actor) and I think that surly, sullen, spoiled rich kid look could indeed work well in many renders. The more I look at the character, the more I can see the utility of him. Even when he's smiling, he looks sour on life! :)
Maybe it is the scowl but he doesn't look youthful to me. Skin looks like Leo and the images with the blonde hair I actually thought at first glance he looked like a middle aged woman. I like Morana description. He looks spoiled and angry.
Why does he have to have a theme, its just people pigeon holing. Personally I like what I can see but then I'm not bowled over by the PA characters to me they look like all the others in the store and don't appear to deviate from the original much. As to whether or not he is attractive that surely is dependant on who's looking.
Of course that is a given.
It doesn't but.... Themes are helpful to those who like to purchase content for a particular genre or style. For example anime characters neeed anime style outfits. In general some of the male bundles of late gave lacked cohesion. For example Ivan an older character had no gray haired option. When designing figure content should be in keeping with the style and type of figure being sold. Just throwing a bunch of unrelated items and calling it a bundle doesn't always work. Content should compliment the character to show him or her in the best light. At least that's my take.
I like Lucian, but after the PC Anniversary sale......I'm just not able to rationalize spending $46 on the Pro Bundle at this time.
Give us a week or two to recover before dropping new base characters on us next time.....
I do agree he has that David-reminiscent shape, but David always looked younger and slimmer to Michael, as Stephanie always is to Victoria. Wasn't that the whole point to their characters, anyway?
I'm actually getting kind of a Severus Snape feel, myself. XD
Time for some renders!
I don't really know David (before my time) but while I agree Lucian is more wiry, I don't really see him as 'younger' at all. His nose is too big.
Gianni, Leo, Lucian, Michael, in a lineup.

They're all very golden-tan but N.G.S. 2 has convinced me that's a function of IRay, not the skin textures themselves.
I can always use another Daz Elite texture. FWSA Oscar renders like he has an implementation of N.G.S Anagenessis II. Vampire Executioner lapel is flat and fake looking, though. The Leather Style Outfit has no texture expansion and the back of the collar dips unrealistically low. However, the G3M loyalty discount and 40% Pro Bundle related item discount made this an easy decision.
Nice renders, the character looks fine. Lucian based on those renders looks the youngest of the Genesis 3 Males except for Kenji who is sort of anime so doesn't count I guess.
One more, then I have to run for a while. But I think he works pretty well as a wiry, lifeworn veteran, opposed to Ivan's heavyset lifeworn veteran look. While Michael is, basically, a model.

Huntsman outfit, AJ hair with the bangs adjusted, NOT one of the bundle poses.
That last one looks like a lean, young Arnold Swartzenegger!
Lets see... Skinnier/less muscley characters! (no sixpack, do you know how hard it is to dial out a sixpack? you can't), cheekbones out the wazoo! some medievalesque clothes, a really medieval suitable hairstyle (dax is like perfect 15th century hair, seriously)
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Guy definitely has a case of resting... grumpy face. But yeah, He's certainly the closest thing to a David we've got in the last 2 generations, so I'm going to be dialling him into a lot of my gentlemen, (and maybe I'll really go full david with him and start dialing him into my ladies too)
Well, if you'd like some comparisons, look below.
Yeah, Lucian is definately David 7.
YES! Now that you mentioned it, I can't unsee it. Somebody get this guy a black robe and stringy hair ASAP! :)
Now that I've got that out of my system, someone else mentioned how Lucian reminded them of "odd-looking' guys like David Duchovney and I can see that too. In fact, Lucian could have been the type of lean, character-actors-with-attitude that were pretty prevalent in 1970s Hollywood and who still turn up as TV antiheroes. I'm definitely seeing past his scowl now though I'm a bit lean on cash after all the PC+ sales to afford him right now.
Meh. They have similar physiques, but their faces are visibly different even in your small clay renders. And face is what I care about the most, since most of the time my gents are clothed.
No, I don't see David in him. He is a very stunning figure, in a brooding kind of way. Sort of a young Richard Burton with a bit of work.
I don't in any way have a problem with how he looks ;)
